So 3 months ago, I picked up a routed and dirty WCS94 from a local friend. There were a LOT of problems. If you check out my post history, you can see all the topics with all the issues that I had to deal with.
As it stands now, the game is 100% playable and working (with one issue due to how powerful the flipper coils are...see below). This isn't a collector's game - it's a player's game. It's not in pristine condition, but it's in excellent condition with a few cosmetic issues on the cabinet. This will be apparent in the pictures I upload later.
Here's a short list of what was fixed/replaced:
- New soccer ball rubber (there's a scratch on it because a dumb plastic wasn't on there all the way)
- New kickback coil
- Complete flipper rebuild
- Replaced motor control board for soccer ball
- Replaced left flipper board
- GI pin on board was burnt, so that was replaced and resoldered
Machine is full LED. The wireform could use a re-dip, and the legs probably need to be replaced. They are the original copper/bronze colored legs. They're dirty and a bit rusty in places, but I didn't feel like buying the replacement set (because they're expensive and I had no reason to since it didn't impact the game at all).
Plastics are all good. There's one that I can think of (the bent plastic on the right ramp entrance) that has a small chip where the screw goes. I think one other plastic has a small chip in it. However, they are not broken/missing. The chip is, in both cases, on a spot that I imagine was due to overtightened bolts when the operator was working on it before. Also needs a new plunger tip (the one on there is cracking and I forgot to order a new one).
The cabinet is in good shape. I won't say perfect, but it's far from bad.
Lots and lots of pictures to come, but I figured I'd get this up now so that I can put the feelers out there.
As for why I'm selling it? Game is a ton of fun, but I actually had more fun fixing it than I am playing it. I'll hunt down another project at some point.
The ONLY remaining issue the game has that I am aware of (as in, I've never run into ANYTHING besides this):
When lock is lit and you hit the right ramp, as the ball flies around the ramp and triggers the switch to engage the magnet, the magnet may not catch the ball. I finally realized the reason for this is the new flippers + superbands = too strong. The magnet is indeed activating, but the ball is traveling too fast to catch it. I haven't lowered the flipper coil power yet (that's a thing, right?), but regular rubbers OR adjusting that switch will fix it. I tested it with the glass off and, as I said, it is NOT a mechanical error...It's simply a "ball is moving super fast and beats out the switch" error.
A couple of pictures for place-holding sake (these are at various stages of my restore, NOT necessarily the final/current product). No credit dot. Purpose is to show the LEDs, and some of the wear and tear due to routing, and the game before the final "stuff" was put on. I'll take the good pictures later.
Oh and I would prefer not to deal with shipping at this time.
