FS: The Shadow - Shopped/Excellent
Featured Ad

Added: March 15th, 2017 Ended: March 19th, 2017
Condition: Fully shopped/refurbished

Item description

This is a beautiful example of The Shadow. Here are highlights:

- No errors - plays perfectly, fast and strong

- Playfield - this was lightly used and is close to perfect. No Mylar - not sure if the Clearcoat is original factory or restored and then cleared. Regardless, it's awesome.

- "Aurich" Translite/Speaker package. (I have the original artwork too, will include, but the Aurich mod is perfect IMO)

- Cabinet - excelllent. Main cabinet touched up in a few spots, looks very good. Check out the cool custom side decals! New installed (and go great with the Aurich artwork)

- Interior Side Decals - really cool artwork, lit "Shadow" city at night, decorate the three interior side panels.

- Sanctum - neat custom circle decal marks Sanctum magnet spot.

- 100% custom Super Bright LED's - tasteful, fit the theme - but also mainly white GI keep it traditional.

- Brand new PF glass from Marco

- 5 new balls

- Legs wire brushed with protectors

- New lockdown bar

- Restored lockdown receiver- brushed/new decals

- New Titan rubber/New flippers

-Manual

- *BONUS* I'll include an original 1973 # 1 DC Comics "The Shadow" in excellent condition.

$3,850

Need a close-up Sanctum photo.

#3 2 years ago

Mostly just looking for cash, but would consider the following in trade:

- Earthshaker
- Fish Tales
- Dr. Dude
- Donkey Kong Arcade

I will take a pic of Sanctum later. I can provide any hi tea pics anyone wants.

Thanks

Not "restored", "shopped out" is probably better term.
Great game, good luck with the sale

Fair point. Somewhere in between - wouldn't say CQ or Fully Restored, but it's close.

I didn't want to be the one to say it. What got me was the "fully restored" with the cabinet floor looking the way it does. I'd go for "partially."

Gorgeous machine, though!

I agree - I'd put it in between shopped and restored.

Wished you lived closer. I see that you're willing to ship but I can't justify a $4k plus shadow after shipping.

Nice machine!!!

To be fair, I'm not sure what part of this is considered restored at all other than new head decals and the lockdown receiver/bar. Cab is in original condition with touch ups (which sounds nice from your description), orig Playfield with sanctum decal fix.. restoration means stripping the pf top and bottom, taking apart mechs and cleaning, new parts as needed on reassembly, and generally redoing the entire cab as well.

I would amend the title to excellent condition or something similar, restoration is a mis-representation/label imo.

That said, it looks great and your price is pretty fair I think for the condition of the game, shadows seem to be on the move up in value.

Cabinet head, backside looks water damaged

I agree,

That backbox has seen some serious moisture at some point in time.

#13 2 years ago

Okay, I changed description to "shopped/excellent"...

As for the back box - there's light reflection on the back which accentuates that effect. The back box looks really nice overall.

The sides were sanded, painted (primer and finish) and had the new custom decals installed. The decals look great. There appears to be no sign of water anywhere insides the back box, or on sides and front.

Maybe the backside got wet at some point? But if so it was superficial and it actually looks better than most pins. It has been touched up, the latch was removed and wire brushed, new plastic feet... I'm happy to provide more detailed pics.

I'm pretty sure if we work on him long enough we can get him down to "nice player's example."

#15 2 years ago

Update makes sense. Table looks nice!! glws.

#16 2 years ago

The pictures are the most important aspect of the listing, and judging by the pics, this is a really beautiful looking machine. Good luck with the sale, would make an offer myself if I had the space!

#17 2 years ago

Nice looking game. Hard to find a top 30 DMD game in nice condition for this price.
