FS: Poor Quality PPS licensed Rocket backglass repro

Added: November 14th, 2016 Ended: November 28th, 2016
Condition: New

Item description

A friend of mine bought two of these and gave me one. By the time I got my hands on it it was too late to return it and my friend doesn't want it back. The colors are nothing like the pics on E-bay and are so washed out and bad, that I am keeping my original near 60 year old glass in the machine as it still looks much better.

Maybe somebody can use it as wall art, but it won't be me and I don't need or want it around anymore.

Oh the timing on this is perfect o-din, GLWS or GLWD

#3 3 years ago

You have up sold it a little to much for my tastes

#4 3 years ago

wish i was closer

#5 3 years ago

If somebody wants to use it as a replacement in a game, that's up to you. The repro is the one on the left. The original is the one still in the machine.

I try to be honest when I describe an item I am selling.

I wanted to make sure I disclosed that, because I didn't want any trouble for trying to sell something they didn't license.

It's really not that bad, though not great.

I don't see why you bought it in the first place your original looks fine. And I'd always prefer an original even with a little wear.

#10 3 years ago

One other thing to disclose. It's not real glass. It was done on plexi or acrylic or something like that.

#11 3 years ago

What funny is some colors are weaker than original (red rocket) and others are stronger than original (moon/cheese).

They see me trollin', they haten'.

I didn't buy it, a friend did. I actually told him not to, but he just does these things. And then one day it arrived at my house. If and when it sells, I will give him whatever I get for it.

I was hoping to get a real silkscreened repro done by one of the experts, but that may never happen.

My original isn't that bad, but one color in particular- a reddish orange that would be on the 1 and 5 rockets and some of the numbers around the edge are pretty washed out. Still looks better than this one. Just look at the light blue background and the greens.

#13 3 years ago

It actually looks pretty good in my opinion except for the smoke from the blast off on the bottom. It is very washed out looking compared to the original. Still a great option for someone missing the BG or that has a damaged one.

#14 3 years ago

Quality!

#15 3 years ago

Yeah the bottom of it is pretty terrible. The rest looks ok.

it's a 60-something year old game at this point so I think these plexi replacements by the likes of McAfee are "better than nothing" options for people with missing or completely trashed backglasses.

I have a Wonderland, and that gorgeous backglass does have a little flaking at the bottom but I wouldn't think of replacing it with something like this. If I didn't have a backglass at all I'd be thrilled this was available (and Classic Arcades does sell one)

#16 3 years ago

If it had looked even close to the pic on e-bay, I may have installed it, and been very happy with it.

Here's the ebay photo. Nice and shiny!

It's on the website, but sold out long ago. Not sure he will ever do another run. Don't know anybody that got one from the first run either.

But I know at least two people that would buy one right now.

#19 3 years ago

I will take Blue Chip stamps in partial trade for this item.

Bump!

Wms 21
Wms Tic Tac Toe
Friendship 7

Si. But I would like to match my machine with a light blue backglass. As close as possible to the original. If not, I'll just let the old one age with the machine and I can live with that. In fact I've resolved to that. Somebody out there must need this repro. Price break coming soon.

#22 3 years ago

That PPS licensed Rocket backglass looks like ass.

#23 3 years ago

Wow, something being sold by Classic Arcades that isn't accurate to the original???? You don't say?!?!

#24 3 years ago

It isn't even accurate to the pics they are using to sell it.

Price drop!

$75 and two full books of Blue Chip stamps.

#25 3 years ago

So, no plastic covering to protect that peals off?

Feel like a shmuck for asking...but not stated.

#26 3 years ago

I'll wrap it in Saran Wrap if you like.

#27 3 years ago

Typical McAfee garbage. If PPS cared, they would have quit licensing to him years ago. It's just too bad his poor quality products continue to flood the market and people get stuck with it.

#28 3 years ago

That picture in the ad looks like a picture of an original backglass, not the repro being sold.

Not sure if thats true, but that what it looks like...

#29 3 years ago

The repro being sold here is the actual item I received.

I was just going to make a smart ass comment about the blue chip stamps. I don't know what the hell those are, but they have a cute chipmunk on them, so they have to be something people want.

#38 3 years ago

Our family collected both, but Blue Chip had a way better catalog as I recall. I totally remember going to the Blue Chip redemption store as a kid.

#40 3 years ago

Blue Chip way better. I got that Wenzel pup tent and moved out.

#41 3 years ago
