I'm surprised nobody had grabbed this yet. They are nearly impossible to find.

me too, they are no longer being manufactured.

#5 11 years ago

Might help if you clarify purpose of board and if it is a complete plug and play assembly.

#6 11 years ago

All right I finally read the original link and understand purpose.

Why for sale? You getting rid of your Tommy too? If no, why not keep as a spare? For someone to want this, in general, they need to have a broken Tommy blinder or want a spare board for it. I am tempted to have a spare on hand but if I do that for several parts on several machines and at $100 a pop it becomes cost prohibitive. I started doing it with a $100 motor for the paddle wheel on Maverick...then $100 for a wire harness and glove motor for JM...add in all the regular parts that we all like to keep on hand (leds, switches, rubber, wax, transistors, etc) it starts to hit the wallet

I actually went out of my way to find a Pinnovations board when I first got my Tommy. Despite the fact that my blinders were working perfectly, I simply wanted the better, more reliable board in my machine. The really funny part is that when I finally found the board and went to install it, I discovered that my game already had the updated board in it. Believe it or not, I had never actually checked.

#9 11 years ago

Ahhhhhh. Yep you hit on something that I missed. Upgrade! So there are 3 basic reasons then.
1) Tommy is broken
2) Tommy needs a spare
3) Tommy would be better off upgraded for peace of mind

Good point!

At least I have a spare NOS Pinnovations board now in case I ever need it.

I didn't catch that the first time around when I read it! Hehehe...that is kinda funny. I think I better pull my glass tomorrow and check mine. Crazy week while my wife and I work after we get off work, on preparing for our son's High School grad party. If I forget or don't have time, I have to make sure I check next week. Maybe I should pick this up and install it. I am not reading anything bad about it and Tommy is my favorite pin (obvious since it is my avatar

Peace!

I currently have a Tommy which is acting up and I am not sure if it is this board or the servo motor that is the problem. It opens and closes but randomly will start acting flaky and shaking etc. I have tried fiddling with the pots and the connectors etc. when its flaking. However when I unplug the motor and plug it back in, its still in the same flaky mode.. spazzing out and shaking.

I think it may be a stripped gear, but the weird thing is, it seems to work perfectly when it wants to for a little but, and I cant make it strip or start acting up on my own... jiggling wires moving the arm etc. nothing makes it start acting up...

So I would think it may be the board, but I even reflowed the solder on the connectors and the pots, and no help... Twisting/adjusting the pots dont help, so it dont seem to be flaking from there....

Does this sound like the board to anyone?

If I had the cash I would buy this right now, but I just forked out for the servo since I couldnt find one of these boards for sale... If I knew it was the board that was the problem, I would buy this right now! I guess I need to wait for the servo to come and swap it out before I fork over the money for the board possibly for no reason.

Anyone have that experience with the blinders? Flaking and spazzing out randomly? Specifically when I first turn on the machine it seems... once they are in place they seem to behave until they just want to randomly start shaking about and half closing and then opening again etc.

I still have this for sale, considering what Tommy's are going for would think that someone would invest in a new controller board for their blinders to keep them running longer with no issues.

Cut one side of that green chiklet looking capacitor and it will solve your problems. Worked for me on the first Tommy I ever bought.

Priced about like your GNR magnet boards I assume, high high high.

Go start your own For sale thread asshole

As I previously explained the magnet board is subject to a commercial arrangement and I have no control over the price. All of my other boards are well below what most people would expect to pay.

I deliberatly made no comment in this thread until the board sold so I really think you're out of line calling me an "asshole".

As a person sinking tens of thousands of dollars into my "hobby business" because I like electronics and pinballs and my main objective is to help pin collectors I would have thought a little civility was in order - I guess some people simply aren't civil....look at the CPR thread - hahaha

Please ensure you are NEVER a customer of mine thanks.
