Quoted from Honch:I see people post this alot, but then they complain that prices are out of control. They can't have it both ways. BTW GGL this is not any sort of attack on you, I was just pointing out the downside of the hobby being a little more mainstream.
Actually, if the hobby gets more mainstream there will be even more manufacturers emerge and the prices of pins will actually drop as even more competition forces the companies to compete on a cost basis (that is not happening at all now, JJP's entrance [or impending entrance] only served to increase the quality of Stern's machines . . . as Stern saw they could charge more for better quality . . . if JJP starts producing a couple pins per year and really drags away from Stern's NIB purchases, then we MAY see a price decrease).
Quoted from iceman44:Yep, no doubt....a few thousand more pin hunters have emerged onto the scene worldwide....the roller coaster ride is on the way to the top right now
Yep; the newer entrants into the market are buying all the older B/W machines at these high prices (Shazaam!!!!) allowing the older players to fund their XMen LE, WOZ, BHZA, etc. At some point if new people keep entering the market and machines start going back on rout in any reasonable number we will see pins (really good pins at that) start being over produced by the manufacturers and then prices will decrease and bubble on the older machines will burst. Until then . . . roll roller coaster roll.
