Updated 6/22 - Back in Bloomington 6/27-6/29

FS: Here are the machines that are remaining for sale and the prices that we value them at. We with a couple of people looked thru the machines again, and again they appear (and this was corroborated by a couple of people) to be in above average condition. The area holding them for most years was air conditioned and heated, as of late it appears to have not been that way. Games have not been turned on for probably 10-30 years(!), so have no idea what mechanical shape.

We are now selling them individiually initially at the prices below, which may be high/low/or right.

Pictured of these games are posted (see previous thread on Mega- game sale of Gene Cunningham), pictures are not great, but there should be 1 picture per game.

NOTE: to contact me TEXT or CALL MY CELL as I'm NOT on computer as we are busy packing and preparing stuff for transport and sale. My cell (Rick) is 408-891-7878 call me anytime!

SEE PICTURES HERE: http://www.pinball.com/sale/games/index.html

You can:
a) Either purchase outright (at the price below) without seeing and we can arrange you to pickup (games are mostly all together and they would need to be taken apart (by you) or taken legs on).
b) Setup a time to see and then purchase right then and there (which will likely be at the price below unless there is some irregularity in the game)
c) NEW: we can bring some games back to CA on our trucks (first one arriving fro CA Extreme, one another 2-3 weeks later) .. $100/game (to san jose CA pickup)

First to COMMIT with me is the first to get the game (either a or b above)

I am in Bloomington only part of the day on Sunday, and if coming please call me either on your way down 408-891-7878 (I will be there until early afternoon).

Nice! I saw one somewhere. Should have noticed that.

Pretty goofy pricing!

#7 5 years ago

If anybody looks at these in person I would be interested in the Bally Gold Rush if the backglass is good.

#8 5 years ago

Nice that these games will likely be getting played again sometime soon

#9 5 years ago

The pictures can be found here

Looks likes some good deals can be had if you can pick up.

Is there more of Gene's collection that isn't being sold? It seems like he had other games. I know he had at least 1-2 1963 Big Deals.

The good stuff is already cherry picked and gone. Ed

#12 5 years ago

text sent... one that my wife is REALLY wanting and another that she likes but we'll chat about price...

#13 5 years ago

Who got the Magic Castle? Score
And the Barracora with the expensive backglass just propped up on the slick game rails. Yikes.

#14 5 years ago

I bought #100 Bally Alligator, #116 Bally Capersville, #135 Bally Campus Queen & #169 Bally Cosmos.

Now I need to arrange the shipping. Yikes!

Congrats. Really like Capersville.

#16 5 years ago

WOW! Look at all those. Will Gene keep any pins or is he all the way out now ?

Congrats Marcus! Love Capersville and Cosmos. I knew I should have asked him to hold that Campus Queens for me, oh well.

Since this was a chapter 7, I don't think there is an option to keep any.

Like Gene or not, this is hard on him especially late in life.

Agreed. While it's nice these games will be played again I think treading lightly is in order.

IMO it's probably better for him - like a huge weight off his back. At his age, what good was hoarding all this stuff really doing for him? Was he going to restore it all and enjoy playing them? No way. I hope he can see this as an opportunity to relax and enjoy the simpler things in life.

Yeah, you are right. Being homeless at 70 is something to look forward to.

Any of us who collect machines have people that can't understand why he would want those in out lives. Pinball was his life whether he did it your way or his there was something he found pleasure in by owning them. Having the humiliation of having your possessions all taken from you would not be relaxing in any way no matter who you are.

Well if that's what's happening, obviously that sucks. Is he losing his home too?

Not sure about his home but they did take Kim's home, which must have been owned by Gene.

I believe he lost everything from tidbits of info Ive heard. Ill not defend/slam Gene or his business practices as I never dealt with him but for anyone that takes joy in his demise needs a nut punch.

Man you are a glutton for punishment. Those games are absolutely brutal.

Agreed. This in fact is depressing to read. Imagine if that was your collection. Best to Gene.

Great quote!

Hey did Gene start out running a coin op route?

He could have made this sale that Rick is running, well, anytime in the past, right? I mean all he had to do was list them in say 2012-13 and he would have been fine. I am not sure he was ever going to sell though. Might just have sat on them forever. I like how Rick described the heat and ac WAS running but then wasn't. Definite sign he should have sold them.

You know...it would go a long way for Gene if he would apologize by name to those people he mistreated. If he asked, and they forgave, he might get some help from the community.

How else will I ever get better?

I have dealt with Gene several times. Always nothing but good.
He went out of his way to go through his many contacts when i was trying to locate a hard to find backglass.
One of them panned out and I am a happy camper today thanks to Gene.

I'm not one to piss on anyone, but Karma, believe it or not, (and I don't believe in it) is a bitch.

Quoted from rommy:

Once the court locked him out of all his buildings, I'm sure he quit paying the heat/electric bills.

I think it's better to simply forgive, without waiting on an apology from a 70 year old man who looks to be going through an awful time. Even if the apologies are warranted, what does it prove at this point?

Life has a funny way of kicking you in the nuts at times, and I, for one, would rather extend my hand to someone who needs help regardless of how they may have treated me in the past (especially over petty things). He probably accepts that karma has done a number on him so late in life.

This !

Oft times you only know one side of the story. It takes two.

That wasn't my intent at all. If Gene or his family literally have nothing, not even a home...that's terrible and I hope they can find a way out of that situation.

I was just saying that "stuff is just stuff"...I hope there's a bright side on the other end of this for Gene and his family.

#37 5 years ago

Even if Gene apologized (and who knows if he even did anything wrong - you know how the court system works) it's not like he will ever get his stuff or house back.

If the average life expectancy is 72 years, you can't expect that his final few will be good ones.

Perhaps I misunderstood what you were trying to say then. Because somehow I interpreted it as a dick comment.

Yes, I didnt mean you did, just used your quote to respond (edit-to your Q).

By the way I played a few games on Family Guy yesterday with The Korn.....thumbs up! Ive only played it ~8~ times before that.

Especially with the loss of his daughter a few years ago.

He's still a good friend and I wish him well!

Gotcha. In your world, old people are given a pass in regards to anything they may have done when they were younger...

I'd like to live in your world. Sounds like a great place.

#43 5 years ago

In the past Gene has always helped when I needed a hard to find part, he did a lot for the pinball community, before a lot of you guys had your first game, I don't know him other than making purchases from him and saying hello to him when he was a the Allentown show. I will say a prayer for him and his family, Gene , good luck to you and your family and thanks for all you have done for the pinball community.

It's a wonderful thing. No one is perfect. You may need it someday.

Why kick a man when he is down?
He is bankrupt, there is nothing else to be gained

Okay, what, exactly, did Gene do besides running a business with only himself in mind? Isn't that what most do? Isn't that what PPS is doing here?

Seriously, I wanna know. What's the story here? I'm new to the actual hobby (2009) but I've been hunting down location pinball my whole life. Sometimes, when I read about dudes going bankrupt & folks wishing him the worst, I think it would have been best that I kept it that way. I've only known Gene as the IPB guy at shows. Seemed like an old man in the hobby who had the right amount of money at the right time. I always took the poorly spoken words about him as words from those who had a bone to pick from a jealousy stand point.

Enlighten me, Pinside, for I do not know the whole story & I feel like most here do not either.
