GL WNY...kinda hard to believe this pin is still around.

    Here's a bump for ya

Curious on the tax thing. Lets say I buy I pin from Starburst...and I have the receipt showing the 2 taxes were paid (I live in the US). Would they need to be paid again should I bring that game across the border again?

Bringing a game into the states is no issues or 'taxes.' I'm just curious on a machine that was bought in Canada and the taxes paid(with proof on a receipt)...brought to the US...then brought back in to Canada.

I have a couple HUO machines in my collection that have receipts from Starburst showing the GST + PST paid

Or is it like a used car in the states...taxed on every sale

    Quoted from brewmanager:

Unsure how it works going into the US, but they check what you've got coming into Canada, and you have to pay the tax. Tax is what it is...I for one am ok with paying it, especially since it shouldn't be a surprise - you want the pin bad enough to import it, you pay the import costs.

They are actually pretty craft now at the border. You can usually shave a little of the sale price. But if you try to get a MM over at a grand or so...they'll stuff you with the 25k Ebay price.

There's also the US guy bringing the game into Canada for 5%..but I've heard of one story that the US citizen got hit for the whole 12-13%

I've also heard a US guy (going to Canada) just getting waved through.

    Quoted from pinballwny:

How is the tax determined on a private sale? Do they assess value or do you provide a "receipt". I can make a receipt for just about any number. My printer doesn't care. So if you show up with a receipt for $3000, do they dispute your purchase price?
It's been years since I took a pin into Canada, but I just made up a price ($400 for a Judge Dredd) and no one questioned it. Don't know if it's changed over the years, though.
