The Pinside Price Police will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger if you ask more than what they consider a fair price in this already inflated market.

Yes, this is accurate. I sold a D&D with a Bill Davis cc'd pf and tons of nos parts for over $2 grand.

Btw, that upper lh ramp red/orange insert, is the text gone on it?

? I've sold a lot of games the past few years, I don't think I've ever sold for the Boston pinball average. Boston pinball uses eBay, which I think everyone would agree is high considering the amount of funny business that goes on with eBay bids.

Free bump for you, I've always been intrigued by d&d, it looks like a fun game

#56 10 years ago

Bump to a great seller! Price police restrain yourself like myself there is a buyer for every price. Love cannot be pricemarked.

#57 10 years ago

The Forum is for buyers and sellers.
You put a pin for sale on the forum "FOR FREE" people will comment on it. Put it in the market place - no comments. Put it there then or do not worry what people say. Ignore the price police, but good luck telling people to move along and don't leave and negative comments, which may help a buyer looking at the pin make his decision.

If I sold your Mother this pin at your asking price would that be OK with you?

#58 10 years ago

Ah he'll that's a deal.. There's a guy in my backyard wants 2500 for his and its beat.

I'd have to see the game first, but my Mom does like some pinball....................

Yeah, stay away from those guys......they're a couple of tools. Have you seen their "perfectly working" "zero issues" DE Simpsons for a value at $2300? Wonder if they even realize the backbox sides are supposed to have graphics.

Insert decals are around if needed for this or other games.

Some of you guys really should get off his case. It's his pin, and there are plenty of people out there that are D&D and pinball fans that might want to buy this.

when you bought it, it was worth more, it had the topper

#72 10 years ago

While I agree it's more appealing w/ the topper you gotta admit this things a beast w/ it on! Some people might not even have the ceiling height in their game rooms for this thing.. I mean, that makes it taller than big guns right? If my basement had an old drop ceiling there would be no way

Exactly, I get that the topper is important to some, but not everyone likes toppers.. Personally I hate them and they look cheesy on top of games..

for the most part you are right, but sadly in this case, you are wrong. There are a couple games that the topper makes the game, D&D is one, another is Heavy metal meltdown. Those two games add about 50% to the game value sadly. Where a game like GnR, Judge Dredd, TFTC really dont affect a sale price even though the toppers bring good money

While you can't play a topper, you can play the game... And if the game you're playing is D&D... well...

Best of luck with the sale!

This is the point im trying to make. I love the d and d pinball, im not putting it down. For some reason the market is different for this game, for example: the cost of the topper without the game is value X , the cost of the game without the topper is value Y , the cost of the game with the topper is X+Y+30%. Not sure why but thats the way it is

A friend of mine just sold his D&D without the topper for $1,400 just last month.. Trust me I know the value and your $800 isn't even close on this game..

I defended you earlier, as the price police were saying that your machine was worth 700-800. but as far as value with or without the topper, you are wrong there. I know this because i also have a D&D for sale, and i do not have a topper, so my price is alot lower than if it had the topper. Each person that has contacted me about it has asked if I have the topper. On this game, it hurts the value. Hopefully you got full value for the topper, I know several that are willing to pay 400 extra for this title with a topper. The price that you have your machine listed for without the topper and after your price reduction is what this game is basically worth with the topper. I know that i will not get my asking price from a member here because they all know about the topper. The only way i will get my price is by selling it through ebay or craigslist and get an uniformed buyer.

#82 10 years ago

The topper on D&D is just one of those "needs to be there" there kind of things.

The topper for most games are hard for inexperienced collectors to know if they are even factory (like Space Shuttle), but one look at D&D's topper and you KNOW that it came from the factory, and it is part of the game experience.

Same with Lights Camera Action, lots of people took the topper off so it would fit in their basement, but the game is worth 2x as much with the topper intact. Again, it's part of the game experience.

I may have it sold already without topper.. Like I said its just not important to everyone as it maybe to some..

D & D is a $1200 pin at best... maybe $1400 if NIB.

Just out of curiosity, given all the debate on the topper, how much did you sell the topper for?

I'll take two NIB Dungeons and Dragons for $1,400..

#92 10 years ago

The D&D topper is really the most special part of the game - strobe lights, fairly realistic pulsating fire effect, synchronized with the dragon sounds... It is really quite a bit more impressive in person than the WOZ, etc. laser-etched stuff coming out today. Without it, the D&D game is what it is - about 3 shots, really poor "bleep bloop" sounds even for the time, and a fantastic back glass!

At the end of the day, the free market determines value, right? So, if it ain't selling, it ain't worth it... You might throw it up on eBay with a $1200 opening and see what happens... You are going to do much better selling this to a D&D junkie who may not know pinball so well. Good luck!

#93 10 years ago
Quoted from Choggard:

Not NIB but I don't think the last D&D around my neck of the woods sold at all.

#94 10 years ago

Dude I know how you feel. When I got my FT, it wasn't a big deal to me that it was missing the topper. However when I decided it was time to move it, it has been a point of contention and gives a potential buyer leverage to beat ya up on price. Of in this case a bunch of pinheads who have no intention of buying your game an opportunity attack (nice D&D reference) on your asking price.
Good luck!

#95 10 years ago

Here's a concept. Just post your pin in the marketplace and not in the forum. That's what I did, and I sold one on 24 hours, and the other in 3 days. Both for my asking price and both buyers paid for NAVL.

That way, the only people that will PM/comment are most likely interested in your pin.
And if it's not priced right, no one will and then you'll know what it's worth. (At least to anyone on Pinside) There's always RGP or Ebay. Having said that, I had almost no local interest on the pins I was selling and BAM, once they were put on Pinside they were gone. Think about it!
