FS: Complete set of Atari project games (Atari Party Pack!)

Added: February 2nd, 2020 Ended: February 9th, 2020
Condition: As is

Item description

Here is a complete set of Atari project games of all 6 titles. Open to offers for just the games as one lot, or all the games plus the large batch of parts. Might be willing to entertain trades.

I haven't plugged them in for a while, but they've been in climate controlled storage since I acquired them.

Atarians
Time 2000
Airborne Avenger
Middle Earth
Space Riders (2 of these)
Superman

Please see the discussion thread for additional photos. Photos for Atarians, Superman, and the batch of parts will be forthcoming.

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/fs-complete-set-of-atari-project-games

Game details:
Atarians (Some playfield wear. Booted & flipped to some degree)

Time 2000 (Untested. Playfield glass is missing a chunk out of it. Wiring hacks for extra power switch for service outlet)

Airborne Avenger (booted & flipped, but the display fuse was blowing. Backglass is sealed)

Middle Earth (Booted & flipped to some degree, I think. Original backglass is falling apart; includes nice spare backglass)

(2x) Space Riders (Untested. One has a small flipper drag mark, the other has rusty playfield mechs. One backbox has a bondo repair that wasn't painted)

Superman (Booted & flipped. The building plastic is intact. Backglass is missing a small chunk out of superman's cape. Backglass is sealed)

Each game comes with a manual & schematics. Each game except for one comes with legs, but I'll be doing a count to verify.

Buyer for the games has first dibs on the parts. $2500 OBO for all the parts. Many of these parts will be very helpful for restoring the collection of games. The batch of parts includes:

-Populated Airborne Avenger playfield
-Populated Time 2000 playfield
-Time 2000 backbox and nice backglass
-Nice Space Riders backglass
-Set of middle earth plastics
-Various System 1 MPUs, driver boards, display boards & glass, 1 transformer assembly, 1 cabinet wiring harness
-2 superman MPUs, 1 superman driver board, 2 superman power supplies, various displays
-Nice Superman backbox
-Superman backbox lamp panel with wiring
-Superman siderails
-A few plastic aprons from various Atari system 1 games
-A few Atari coin boxes
-A few owl eye coin doors
-Various playfield parts, spinners, drop targets, coils, mechs, backbox lamp strings, backbox "golf ball" style bulbs, cabinet feet, 1 lockbar, start buttons, shooter assemblies, MPU covers, etc

Note that if you are able to find a Time 2000 cabinet body, there are enough parts to build a Time 2000 (which was going to be my original plan, until I actually found a complete Time 2000).

The games and parts will be staged for easy access. No stairs. Loading area is covered and can accommodate large box trucks. I have handtrucks & flat carts available and can assist with moving & loading.

Airborne Avenger playfield, Time 2000 playfield, Time 2000 backbox & backglass, space riders backglass

Note that the space riders backglass is in a protective plastic sleeve. I had trouble trying to slip it off, so I just left it on.

Wow! Super cool to be able to get them all at once like that.

#8 6 months ago

I would need to put an addition on the house first, Atari machines take up a lot of real estate. Wish I had a bigger house.
Glwts, really cool stuff here.

I've only seen one other collector with the entire line-up. Wish I could recall who that was--they posted some photos a few years ago in a thread somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it again.

Two complete collections under one roof. Hmmmmm

nice to collect something specific that not everyone has, and to complete a full set of it.

What about Hercules?

#15 6 months ago
Quoted from Eric_S:

What about Hercules?

No Hercules since it's not a standard sized game.

#16 6 months ago

Very nice collection of games/parts. I thought you said you'd have all these games done and ready for Pinfest this year?

I think I may have mentioned more than once wanting to have them all lined up at a show. Too many projects, not enough free time, lol

I was just busting your chops. If I weren't dwindling my projects down as well, I very well be may be renting a truck and visiting again.

Would be very cool to have the whole Atari lineup in one shot....but I don’t need the Superman.

#19 6 months ago

Hey guys.....(forceflow and colsond3) do either of you have any extra superman plastics.....looking for a couple.......

I might have extra sling plastics. I’ll have to take a look. I know a guy had a few on eBay, but he was asking ridiculous prices for them.

#21 6 months ago

seen the ones on ebay........right crazy price......

I just woke up and looking at that pink plastic trying to figure out what it was. I thought it was a firework or something. Like a shower of sparks type one. Optical illusion.

Turn it into a bizzaro superman, much like zitt did with his Star Trek Mirror Universe game

Wow. Now that is a FS ad!

#26 6 months ago

Atari had some good things going. Too bad they had to close out . Still want to play 4x4 and Road Runner some day!!

#27 6 months ago

To any buyer: I'm interested in the extra Space Riders backglass

Wow, totally jelly of the Pinsider that ends up with this collection!

Only The Atarians is missing in our collection…. It is very rare here now; I've never seen one here in Holland. Not for sale nor in a collection….

Ah-ah! That's the photo I was thinking of. I originally thought that collection included Atarians.

Around here, both Atarians and Time 2000 are incredibly difficult to find. I've only seen maybe 2 examples of each pop up for sale in the past 5 years--and that's including the games I acquired.

#31 6 months ago

A friend has the full lineup minus Hercules and Superman. They were all functional to a point at Louisville Expo a couple years ago. He's acquired parts shape them up, minus a few things. I forwarded your listing but NY is quite a haul away from here...

#32 6 months ago

Last year I BARELY missed an Atarians deal at a local vintage shop going out of business for $40. Still miffed at that one but what can you do.

A few years ago a 4x4 sat on e-bay for a LONG time, which IIRC included a 2nd populated playfield. Always wondered where that one went.

We are still trying to aquire an Atarians to complete our Atari collection. Maybe we are Lucky sometime. All our games are running. Time 2000 and Airborne Avenger still have the crazy Ledex flipper "motors" and they are stil powerfull enough. But we will need to weld a few flipper bats as the bushing and the plates of these are pressed and there is play developing between them. Fortunately we still have parts.

Not pictured are 4 Airborne Avenger in various conditions; some incomplete. We made 1 nice one out of these and the rest is used for spare parts...

Finished digging out superman, but didn't really have time to take extensive photos. Maybe tomorrow.

There's a few different digital pinMAME versions available. No idea how well it actually plays, though.

I’m surprised you’ve never owned one Cap. You have some rare ones.

Are either of the two that were produced anywhere? Someone knows who has them?

Quoted from albummydavis:

Roadrunner and a partial 4X4 were here in SF Bay Area at the California Extreme show. Great to play both of them!

I thought that RR was pretty fun.

Perhaps someone can chime in and reveal who brought them? I just don't recall from the show.

Partial 4X4 because there was no backglass installed in the machine.

Quoted from Colsond3:

I’m surprised you’ve never owned one Cap. You have some rare ones.
Are either of the two that were produced anywhere? Someone knows who has them?

well 1 of 2 is really hard to come by. But I do have some really rare stuff. But if I was going to get any game that was 1 of 2 it would be pinball circus.

If the 4x4 at CAX had no backglass it means there’s likely more than one out there, as the on I saw for sale had a backglass. (Or tragedy has struck it since.)

Pinball hall of fame in Vegas had a Road Runner (when it was in Tim Arnold's shed.... not sure if they still have it nor if it's in the lineup).

It was kind of fun, but not great. I do like the shot to flip to the standups in the inlanes. It used the beep-beep sound effect a LOT.
