I recently lost $1,500 selling a pin. Sometimes you just have to take a loss and move on. It's painful, but I'd still rather do that and ultimately get something I like significantly more in the process. Please understand that I am not suggesting that your situation is equivalent. It's just meant as a general observation. Like most other things, pins don't always retain their monetary value. I came into this hobby with that illusion, but I've since learned my lesson. As they say, "Education is expensive."

Of course, one has to consider the value of having a pin to use for a certain amount of time. In the case I mentioned, however, I truly did not get $1.5k's worth of use out of the pin in the year and a half I owned it. Anyway, sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. I won't hold onto a pin just because I know I will take a beating over the price. If I can't afford to do that occasionally, then I'd better not be in this hobby.
