With only 782 games produced, Solar Fire is the rarest of the 4 Williams multi-level games. I have two (mostly) working Solar Fire projects for sale. They are complete, both start up (one sometimes in audit mode), credit up and play - but will need the normal system 7 maintenance done (rebuilding and/or reflowing connectors, replacing capacitors, etc.). I love the game and was hoping to restore both, but I will not have any time to do it in the near future. So, instead of storing them away for later I'm offering them up for sale. Here is some more detailed info:

Game #1:
After searching for several years, I came across #1. It had been packed up by a moving company and stored in a garage in two pieces, and the seller had not put it back together. I got it home, connected everything, and it worked great. All the plastics (except the one above the shooter lane, if I remember correctly) were in nice shape. The cabinet was actually pretty nice too. The boards looked great and there was just one minor GI hack in the head. The displays looked excellent. The playfield was the worst part (like most SF's) and had brittle and yellowing mylar on it, and you could tell right away the mylar was applied directly over the playfield wear at some point. I think it must have been through some freeze/thaw cycles as the paint is starting to pull up. I played maybe 20 games on it and absolutely loved it. I knew there was no way I could keep the mylar on it as it was horrible, so I carefully removed it using the freeze spray method. The mylar is off but I have not removed the adhesive layer yet. I then removed everything from the playfield so I could get some scans in order to make waterslide decals using photoshop, or come up with some other method in the future to restore the playfield. At this time I did not have Game #2, so my options were limited. I looked for a new playfield but could not find one. This playfield is going to need some serious work done, but with new scans from Game #2 it's now really possible to restore it. Technically, I guess you could apply new mylar to the whole playfield and use it as a players game but I think the game is too rare to not restore it completely (if possible).

Game #2:
The game comes up sometimes in audit mode, and other times with credits and settings intact. Sometimes the right flippers work, and sometimes they don't. Just like the other game, it needs the normal system 7 maintenance done. The overall condition is very similar to game #1, but with a much better playfield that would be easier to touch up - and it has no mylar to remove! It does have some playfield wear like almost all SF's, but I think it's really nice and will come out great with some touch up - or it looks good as it sits right now. Also, the doorbell on the front is included at no extra charge (lol).

I have two sets of gray legs for the games that are in decent shape (some surface rust here and there that could be removed with evaporust and repainted, or left as they are). I also have all new leg bolts and leg levelers for both games. Also, a nice original and complete manual with full schematics and an instruction booklet.

I also purchased a new backglass from Marco when I just had game #1. I think it was $245 with shipping, and I would sell it for $200 with the purchase of the two games (as I really don't need it). The two original backglasses both have flaking, one worse than the other. I personally would replace both.

It's killing me to even think about selling these, but I really want someone to have them that appreciates how hard they are to find, how much fun they are to play, how great they look, and how rare they are. It's taken me years to find both of these - not to mention the distances I drove to get them. If you don't think the price is fair - no problem, tell me what the games are worth to you. I prefer a local sale, but I would be happy to ship through NAVL (and they have 2 for 1 shipping).

It's rare to see one Solar Fire for sale let alone 2! Great price for 2 of them. I wish I had time to take on a project game or 2 but I don't with a toddler and infant at home. I've bought several machines from Todd in the past and he is as honest as they come and easy to work with! GLWS!
