Hello guys.

This is my new restoration project. Picked it up during the summer after a 3 hours trip for 80$ as scrap. In the beginning I was about to use it for parts but I changed my mind.

First I had to reassemble the whole thing. I have done a lot the last few days during the current lockdown here. More to be done ofcourse.

Wow - that is HUGE project....

Most people would just part that out but the playfield looked decent.

Good repair on the cabinet.

Exactly. After I realized that the entire playfield is there (nothing missing, can you believe that?) I desided that this pin worth to be repaired.

#4 3 years ago

Can't believe you saved that cabinet - that is awesome!

#5 3 years ago

Wow, the before pictures are truly painful to look at. Thanks for saving this game!

#6 3 years ago

Looking good. Every pin is worth saving if remotely possible.

#7 3 years ago

Wow fair play I’d of transferred to a new cab but to completely save it takes balls lol

I imagine in Greece they’re hard enough to come by so this was worth it!
What an amazing project, great job!

Fantastic job saving this one!
Wow

#11 3 years ago

How did you get the Dingo to sleep through you removing that thing from its enclosure?

Awesome work, btw. What a great $80 spent.

Yes it's very hard unfortunately. But there is always a pin to be found somewhere. Most of the cases condition is like this one. But that's the true meaning of it I believe. To save them.

#13 3 years ago

Entire cabin ready. Going for the playfield now

Done with playfield.
Made necessary repairs on art, replaced the old ramp with a clear red new one, replaced broken targets, polished metal ramps, replaced old bulbs with leds and placed new rubbers, clean or replaced plastics and applied Novus 2.

Thanks.
Just edited my previous post and added some picture of the current situation. I did try before but for some reason I was getting an error.

I am going to create a back glass next week, so that will be the next step.

Very nice! Lots of work.
Curious what money the coin inserts are priced in. Looks like "10M, 20M, 50M". Wondering what M is.

I think it must be German Marks. It's a pre-euro currency.

It's funny how every single High Speed I see has the exact same worn area on the left slingshot plastic as in your photo, my own included. Never the right sling plastic though.

Amazing job on a very tough donor machine. I know how hard it is to glue a splintered cabinet. I will say, it’s super fun to visit the before and after pictures. I once restored a Space shuttle that was flooded in saltwater. Almost anything is possible.

Unbelievable !! You sir need to be congratulated for bringing that beast back from the dead. I would have put lighter fluid on it lit it up and toasted marshmallows over its corpse.
Very well done.

Finally complete!

It took me a long time to reach to this point. With some breaks of course. It needs some work to the board, a transistor must be replaced, and I also need a lock down bar, I borrow the one at the pictures from my Comet, but long story short, here it is. (plus a reminder picture of how it was when I found it)

Any info on how you recreated the graphic? Why did you cut out the display area instead of just leaving it clear? Awesome job!

Hello,
I was lucky enough to find the file of the back glass in High resolution and so with the help of graphic designer I was able to print a vinyl copy translite.

Now, the vinyl translite is being applied on a piece of a plexiglass as you can see, after that a 3mm real glass is also applied on top of that. Now if you don’t cut out the display at the end you will have the Plexi glass attached to the real glass, you don’t want that because when the display is lite, it will create a short of reflection between those two parts and cause to looked blur in some occasions. Also is very likely that dust and moisture will be trapped there, and you don’t want that either.

Okay. Makes complete sense now. Didn’t realize you added real glass on top. You by chance don’t still have the high resolution file do you?
