I've done a lot of painting recently and the most common negative I read about frog tape was it's lack of adherence so it might depend on your situation. Reviews really seem to be split between the two and it seems to be a matter of personal preference. I believe the difference in price between frog tape and 3M with edge lock is under a dollar. The original blue tape seems to bleed a lot which is why use the one with edge lock. Don't think you can go wrong with either and I might try frog tape just for comparison this weekend.
