    You’ve been found out

    #5 5 years ago

They blocked me once for like a day.

The best day of my life.

    #6 5 years ago

Did your employer hire you to look at Pinside as part of your job??? If not I do not blame them. Spot screwing around and do what they hired you to do.

    #7 5 years ago

In the running for the dumbest complaint of the year..Sad, very sad...

You know the IT guys saw how many hours you were wasting here and blocked you.

IT1: Odd amount of clicks from asdf13232 to a pinside.com
IT2: WTF is a pinside?? Needle porn?
IT1: It looks like a website where people glue dolls to pinball machines.
IT2: Fnck that! I'm blocking that for sure, worse than anime .

    #9 5 years ago

If you haven't tried already, use https in your browser's address bar instead of just http.

    #10 5 years ago

That's it, give the slug another way to chisel his employer's time...

Unfortunately, mine left me at a desk with high speed internet that is not used in any way for the job to pass the time while waiting for customers to come in.

I love it when a customer says "I've been here before and I should be in your computer"

They could have just fired you. Be glad you are just blocked.

    #13 5 years ago

Our company blocks a lot of stuff. So far not Pinside. But the IT guy at our site, both he and his dad have pins.

    #14 5 years ago

Idk seems like lazy management. Passive aggressive. Just tell guy quit surfn net. Besides if he’s on his break then I don’t see a prob.

    #15 5 years ago

Try working for a financial institution and see how far you get on the net.

    Man, get a union.

    #17 5 years ago

Ok... let's say you spend 5 minutes a day looking a pinside at your job. And let's say you make $15 an hour. What does that cost your employer??

$15 and hour equals .25 cents a minute times 5 minutes, that's $1.25 times 5 days a week equals $6.25, times 52 weeks equals $325. Get the point??

Lets say your employer has 50 employees all doing the same thing.....$16250 a year in lost wages.

Try being an employer and you'll do the same thing, if you do not fire the guy or gal first.

    Something to think about...................

    #18 5 years ago

HA, in a huge union, they could't get rid of me for surfing pinball shit in a million years

I usually surf around when I go in early for a bit before work starts anyway.

lots of old school thinkers in here...

companies should never block the internet from SFW sites like Pinside. Productivity is what matters and retaining good workers by allowing and even encouraging downtime to surf is smart business.

Lets say smog tests now take at max 10 minutes each and I do 20 in a day. How much time does that leave to fart around in an 8 hour day?

If I only made $15 an hour, i'd tell you how much i'd have left for pinball......
Also, I don't get paid for what I do, I get paid for what I know. When it's time to save the company, I do my job, not that I have to justify that to you.

    No I get it.

Have a job with a cool boss where you don't have to work very hard.

Apparently not or your employer would have been ok with it.

I would never work for somebody like you.

Well the guy upset that his employer did something that he didn't like. I just thought I would explain why they maybe did that. Sorry you guys can't handle the truth.

    #36 5 years ago

That clip is pretty funny !!!

    #37 5 years ago

Historically these topics go a lot rougher than you'd think. VERY big "shouldn't be surfing at work" crowd here.

“My employer” is a very broad term, my manager? His manager? That Guys manager? Or someone in the IT dept saw a website that wasn’t filtered yet that is tagged with “games” in its detail and they got rid of it because it “came up”?

Just to make you extra happy, it was one of the nice last days of year for weather and I fucked off at 1pm and got 18 in before 4pm, it was fantastic!

My workers make me cash money all day everyday. If I see them on there phones on the job I do nothing. End of the day happy workers that I made cash off of. And I’m still on site everyday. As long as they make me more then they cost who cares. IMO

    #42 5 years ago

O ya I’m on Pinside at work right now and I’m watching my guys get shit done for me.

    #43 5 years ago

Quit. Get a new job. Be sure and mention on your resume and interviews that you have a medical condition requiring visiting Pinside frequently.

Why would someone in IT have to do something like that.

Just curious. How much time have you spent in this thread? How much did that cost you and/or your company?

I use metrics to monitor my employees. If they are meeting their goals I don't care if they spend a couple mins here or there on the net. If they don't meet those goals then I use that to help defend my desires to terminate. Then I trend the goals and if they are set to low then they get raised, to high they get lowered. Unless you live in a shit town the economy is strong and retaining good workers is more important than being a stick in the mud.

Before you become a smart ass with me and my time now. I'm salary, get my job done (as well as my directors to make him look good). On calls at all hours of the day and even some over nights. I put in more than 40 hours worked a week EASY so yup, I will take time between meetings to clear my mind.

    Frickin corporate America blows!

    #48 5 years ago

I once had a middle manager call me into a meeting with the VP to discuss how I was bringing down company morale because I was only averaging 39.5 hours per week instead of 40 (non-salaried position, so I wasn't even paid for 40). Not only did no one else notice or care, this moron wasted more time and resources than someone casually browsing pinside by escalating non problems, watching everyones time, and pretending to do work of any value to the company at all. You can't make this shit up.

timab2000, is that you? Ironically, his first name was Tim. It's funny how quick you can bust out the math for quantifying the dollar waste of an employee doing non-work related things but completely neglect to calculate the value or revenue they generate for the business.

    #49 5 years ago

I'm on pinside now....and it's ok. It's part of my job.

    #50 5 years ago

    This doesn't surprise me....

According to Kevin Kulek's mom....pinside is an "adult site".......
