Any chance of ghostbusters making its way over there? I

Although I just took delivery of a NIB GBLE, probably not. I'm going to need a few weeks to install mods and prep the game for commercial use. And since a great deal of my time is now consumed with running the arcade, and keeping the street accounts running, the GB LE prep work needs to be put on hold.

For those keeping score: My GBLE has a build date of 8.22.16, and has neither ghosting nor mismatched side rails. I've only played 2 games on it so far.

See i will give it a good workout this weekend and you will know if you are having ghosting problems or not! WIN-WIN for everyone!

You can count on my business when I'm in Vegas for SEMA.

There are ways to ghost play games to get them or you can play the real cheap and fun games like Sigma Derby.

Where is there a working Sigma Derby in Vegas today?

I believe upstairs at the D still has one. Not sure about MGM Grand anymore.

#56 7 years ago

MGM had one last November when I went.

I want to know if there has been any new information about the supposed updated sigma derby that was shown a year or so ago at a trade show.

Bottom right of the page.

That's correct. I played it in July this year.

You actually got a seat?? Every time I've gone into The D, that game is packed with people and deep with people wanting to play it!

(By the way, how great is The D? And just Downtown in general?)

We love downtown, that's why I'm glad to see an arcade going up there. It can be a chore to get family over to the PHOF when they would rather gamble. I had my biggest win there once, and it was at the Fremont. We always stop at the D, and guess what - we always have enough seats for everyone. Downtown is a blast. You'll save footsteps because everything is packed about as close together. You can probably fit all of Fremont on the walkway from the strip to Ceaser's Palace.

(The shifty guy on the left is me)

Downtown Las Vegas is my favorite. As long as you skip the Plaza and The California, you will do just fine. I love Golden Nugget and have to say I am impressed what they did with the old Lady Luck, which is now The Downtown Grand. The "D" has really come along since the transition from Fitzgerald's. I just cannot do the strip anymore. You can't even walk across the street without 2 escalators, raised crosswalks, and a whole bunch of detours. I just want to go from one side to the other. Sorry, no longer possible.

Going to be interesting to see what becomes of the shuttered Las Vegas Club & Binions.....hearing a crazy rumor of a super casino/resort being rebuilt in that space. Binion's hotel has been closed since 2009. Hopefully the original casino part of it can be preserved and the rest, blow it up!

What's happened to Binions since they lost the WSOP to Rio is just so sad. Hotel shuttered, back of the casino with all the empty poker tables, now brightly lit when it used to be dark and awesome... I do look forward to what gets done with that whole parcel of land.

But what's your problem with The Plaza and The Fremont, man?

#62 7 years ago

Now I have a reason to go downtown! I generally dont go there as its been a bit gritty (i know thats the charm of it...).
Getting a GB there is a must since its so popular now, make sure it has the center post and I'll put $20 in it the next time I come to Vegas.

#63 7 years ago

The sleaze was a part of its charm. I was sad to see Mermaids closed

Not I. Got the worst food poisoning ever from one of their hot dogs. You might say "it's your own fault for eating a hot dog from Mermaids" and you would be right, but still.

#65 7 years ago

Just saw this..... Dang it, Larry! The main reason I go to Vegas is to play pinball and the only place I stay at is NYNY, because of your amazing pin collection.

So now this means I have to leave the casino! I mean, I'll walk outside to eat at Bruxie's or cab it to the Hall of Fame and Sammy's L.A. Pastrami, but downtown?.... Seriously though, congratulations of the second location. Can't wait to play! Your machines always play like they were just unboxed.

Planning a trip now....

#66 7 years ago

I was there last week and loved it! Really nice games, nice location, and nice staff. Plus I got the grand champion on MMR!
Definitely looking forward to going back soon!

#67 7 years ago

Just got back from downtown las vegas and the arcade was awesome! Very friendly staff every time i went in, machines played perfectly and it was a blast!

I was like one of the last two people in there and they were about to close and 10 more people showed up so they said they would stay open if there were people there. Was awesome and got to play for another half hour to hour or so.

Only reason i went to NYNY was for the ghostbusters, so when you get that downtown i prob wont go to NYNY again. Its a trek to get there and the machines are hidden in the back of the arcade, but they do all play perfect! So it was worth going.

Well, I got food poisoning from a restaurant in NYNY. It's a terrible way to spend the first day of your vacation, but I still gamble and eat there.

You just have to drink enough alcohol to kill all the bad food germs

No problem with the Fremont at all! And actually the California is being spruced up , they have an awesome new sports bar book!

The Plaza is a complete trash of a dump! The only redeeming quality is Hash a Go Go for chicken n waffles!

They do fill those back poker tables on Saturdays for the 2pm poker tournaments.

From Mermaids all the way to the Las Vegas Club, that whole block is going to be redeveloped into a new casino/resort.

Good collection of new and relatively modern games!

#83 7 years ago

I gladly gave $20 to the cause a couple of weeks ago when I was in Vegas. Really an awesome group of pins please support this great endeavor! I will be back in town next month with another Pinsider, we will drop some more coins your way and have some fun. It will be interesting to see if my initials are still on the Metallica

#84 7 years ago

Very cool; I missed this thread the first time.

I can't promise I will be in Vegas any time soon, but this is definitely one more reason to plan a trip there...

#85 7 years ago

Going today

#86 7 years ago

Coming over the holidays, and since I don't gamble, I will be donating heavily to pinball machines, there in particular.

Loving the LE game play! This place is great. Game condition is fantastic!

Headed to Vegas for a long Halloween weekend tomorrow and will certainly be swinging by!

#89 7 years ago

Had a fantastic time here during my visit! Really nice staff and immaculate pins. First time playing GB LE (man I laughed my ass off when the magnet slings grabbed the ball and twirled it around) as well as the first time I got to spend any time on The Hobbit!

How did you get a Dialed-In? It shows one in your current collection.
Should that be on your wish list?

Have fun tomorrow, I do back soon.

For me, wish list is something I want or plan to buy.

My collection is Games I own or have paid for and waiting to arrive. Right now I'm paid and waiting on GB Pre (soon), my TBL hopefully is built by 1st quarter (achiever edition) and I was in on Dialed In even before its release. Since they are paid for I consider ownership to be mine.

Fremont street seems a bit run down and dirty, definately not for kids, vegas in general not for kids, the arcade on Fremont st seems to be alittle begining for kids, teenagers who can't gamble or drink, very good job...it's is nice to see arcades coming up, hope it's profitable enough to stay in business, I will play there nxt time in town!!!

#94 7 years ago

Ooh I need to check this place out - just heard of it looking on Pinball Map since I am running a tournament tonight over at Flipperspiel at 7 (https://www.ifpapinball.com/tournaments/view.php?t=15433#) so may try and check it out afterwards!

I went in yesterday and had a good time.

It was Halloween so predictably nuts. A lot of people going in and out and all over the place.

The pins were all in great shape. I really liked being able to play pins that otherwise I would never get to try.

What did I learn?

WOZ is visually impressive. Truly incredible to behold this machine. The gameplay? Well, I didn't really know what I was doing. It's not exactly easy to figure out or as simple as pick up and play.

Metallica is awesome. I'm sold on it. I want this pin. I don't really know the rules all that well but you can have a lot of fun playing right off the bat.

This isn't a review thread so I won't go into each and every pin but I was happy to see people playing the pins although I can see how the pinball machines are not the biggest money maker and I think we all can see what will happen regarding operators. The price of entry for the return just does not make sense. What about pinball really makes sense though?

The location is easy to reach but there are no bathrooms. Bummer. I had to keep running to Denny's to pee but that's also because I had more beers than I should have.

Ultimately, I'll be back and I have plenty of tokens leftover so I'll probably pop in tomorrow and see if I can figure out what the hell I'm supposed to do on WOZ.

WOZ is a great machine, but that Hobbit though! Smaug Edition... so choice...

I REALLY enjoyed the Hobbit as well. I played it back to back with Ghostbuster's and I just preferred the Hobbit. It's easier going to play if that makes sense. With Ghostbuster's I had to really pay attention and make sure I'm playing perfect to prevent a drain. I could loosen up and just have fun playing with Hobbit which is how it's supposed to be I think...

#99 7 years ago

That's the first and only place I've ever seen a GB LE and those magnet slings can be hilarious with a few drinks under your belt

Man five days and I get to spend week chilling and playing pinball, can't wait!
