It might be a good idea to bend a metal "cliffy" around that bend.

Quoted from Insane:

It would be great if you they showed everything they have made in the past and offered a reorder list that when they hit say 10 "orders" they would rerun, plastics, playfields etc.

I think Stu said they have to have 120 orders to re-run an item.

Quoted from Freeplay40:

Well, this has not been my best week...Nothing to do with ramps other than I have been under the weather. Started with a bout of food poisoning last Thursday that has been tough to get over...capped off with a trip to the emergency room this morning...Ugh!
So I am trying to keep things moving and am forming the Guns 'n Roses ramps. Hope to be back to full speed in a couple days.

Hope you feel better soon!

Quoted from Freeplay40:

I seriously need to get off my ass and get that new machine finished so I can do the larger ramps. Space Shuttle still expected to be the first I do on it.

I have a SS ramp that I can send you to evaluate.

I also have an orange Comet corkscrew ramp for your molding pleasure.

On another note, Vid1900 said he would dig out a Comet Cork Screw ramp and send to me....

All boxed up and going out Tuesday.

Tracking says you will get it tomorrow (Monday).

The center of the corkscrew holds a clear lamp defuser that is exactly 1.5" in diameter. In hindsight, I probably should have sent that too; but I did measure it's exact size for you.

Quoted from Freeplay40:

Picking up my last RX of pain killer tonight. This and Advil should get me over the hump I think. Different pain this time. They sure are making it hard to get this regulated stuff. I certainly understand the need to regulate it but I kind of feel sorry for people on chronic long term pain and the associated difficulty getting prescriptions filled.

Just be glad you did not get addicted to opiates like everyone else in the country.

My buddy just told me that his 27 year old daughter (who is a RN) and her boyfriend (who is an Anesthesiologist) both were found dead in a CVS parking lot Monday. Apparently, her boyfriend wrote the script, and they ODed together in his Jaguar .

Comet corkscrew will be the largest seller ever

#2011 6 years ago
Quoted from Freeplay40:

Roughly finished a clear and a dyed orange Comet Cork Screw today alongside an original. See photo and let me know what you think of the orange.

Looks amazing.

There has not been a new orange Comet ramp in probably 30 years...

Comet made me SO much money back in the day, literally buckets and buckets of cash.

And even a few years ago when James "King of Cranes" and I put it and a bunch of pins in a bar for 20 year olds, it out earned everything, including AFM

Quoted from crlush:

I thought you made all your money making the Phantasm movies?

If you saw my acting in that last Phantasm Ravager, I probably owe them money.

#2070 6 years ago
Quoted from jaytrem:

Any thoughts on why they did so well? Theme? Simplicity, just enough features to be attractive? Shorter game time, with an obvious but not often attainable million point shot, keeps players dropping in more coins? Sorry to go off topic, just interested in why it would beat out AFM and others in earnings. Thanks.

Probably because it has a non sexist theme - you don't have to save a transgendered woman from the martians, nor save a woman from a tower.

It has easy goals for a beginner, with big obvious payouts, yet it has more difficult goals (lighting 1986 only on the 3rd ball) for pinheads.

The risk/reward of dunking the dummy plays big too.

#2085 6 years ago

Probably red would be best, keeping in the color pallet

#2109 6 years ago
Quoted from xeneize:

. if someone could provide the head, I really doubt it would cause a license stir...

That's great material!

If you have not picked up new plastic yet, Kydex might be be easier to pull from the mold, and more impact resistant.

Guys who make magnetic break away gun holsters swear by the stuff.

Is Comet the largest selling ramps ever?

I get back to the States, and it seems like every comment was about Comet....

The new Comet ramps are serious!

The Cycle Jump ramp out of Kydex is NEVER going to crack.

I flexed it in every direction and it's stiff, yet forgiving along the center webbing.

I'm putting my paper thin original in a box (Every time I make that shot I cringe thinking that this will be the time it finally breaks), and replacing it with my new **combat ready** Kydex.

Thanks again Mark!

Quoted from Freeplay40:

Honestly, probably less work but I'd bet still some would be needed. I don't have a Comet to actually do the install so will be interested in someone who has confidence doing the install and making the necessary modifications to the playfield and be willing to share the experience.

I'd bet that some wood will still have to be removed, hardtop or not.

It was the same process a decade ago when the heavy duty space shuttle ramps came out:

#4519 2 years ago
Quoted from Freeplay40:

Thanks for posting that Vid... The playfield cutout on Comet is the same as the one on Space Shuttle. I also agree that in addition to the depth being greater, the back of the cutout will also need to be extended maybe 3/16" - 1/4".

If one crosses my path I'll of course document how much material had to be removed.

Don't let it scare you guys, it's not hard to do at all.

#4521 2 years ago
Quoted from ClarkGriswold:

I'm wondering how to do it best? What's the right tool(s) for the job? I know you could chisel it out by hand likely, but there must be a better/easier, less risk for messing up way to do it. Any first hand experiences out there to try? OR anything to avoid?

I use a trim router.

New Comet Center ramp #1.

You should auction off the most coveted pinball ramp in history.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors ramp!

Could give the auction money to that cool fund that pays for Veteran's funerals from Covid.....

#4529 2 years ago

The plastic is super thin, and breaks if you even breathe on it.

You will use a trim router endlessly in pinball and guitar repair.

There are no more 25% off coupons at HF, so you really have to spend $29.

Lousy US tariffs on Chinese goods - sucks!
