Quoted from Freeplay40:

The green is a tough one. I have not experimented with it yet, but it is either going to be a mix of my latest blue (mixed) or a mix of turquois and yellow. None of the stock greens look right.

Out of curiosity. Would you care to explain the dye process of PETG?

Quoted from Freeplay40:

It's a little dicey but not rocket science. The dye I use is called Idye Poly. Basically it is a dye used for clothing. There are two types of dye (that I am familiar with) for different types of fabric.....Cotton and then the other is for Rayon or Nylon. Both Rayon and Nylon are basically plastics.
The dye is prepared per manufacturers instructions. PETG will distort at temperatures nearing 140 Fahrenheit....so best to stay under 130. The process does require warmth for the dye to work, so typically you are reheating the batch sometimes several times to get the desired color density. Between "dippings" the pieces are rinsed in cold water then re-immersed. To reduce the risk of distortion, I will rough cut the pieces to be dyed, leaving lots of extra plastic for support....then once dyed, the pieces are final cut and finished. The dye fully penetrates the plastic.
Honestly it is a lot of extra effort, but the results....colored PETG....is worth it.

Thanks for the explanation, and yes. your dyed products looks really sweet!

Not a ramp but....
.. this piece of blue unobtanium would be awesome to see reproduced.
It could not be the most complicated of molds either(?)

The blue topper dome for Lethal Weapon 3, with almost 11000 machines made
and most of them with a smashed, cracked, crushed, missing blue dome should be
like mining pay-dirt for gold.

I would stand first in line up for the first two...

Cheers

Can't tell for sure, but that might be an injection molded piece.

If it where so, would that pose a problem for vacu-molding?
