I'm going to be pulling out a playfield for a PF swap and cabinet refinish, but I don't have a garage workspace where I can install a pulley in the ceiling. (I'll be doing this in a spare bedroom, and will needs to store the pulley system when not in use.)

Is there some kind of free-standing scaffold system that I can mount a pulley on? Does anybody have recommendations (I don't mind DIY, but I also don't have any real woodworking tools or space, so prefab is preferred)?

Put the pf on a rotisserie on wheels and roll it into the closet?

Pulley system sounds like a lot of trouble.

An engine hoist could be repurposed to do the job.

One of the mobile camera rigs made from 80/20 might work. Have a look at Spraynard ’s posts about his rig over on Tilt forums.

I'll just say, it's relatively easy to lift the playfield out by yourself if the cabinet is sitting on the ground as compared to up on legs.

Edit: Pic added. I have my cabinets on a modified lift during restoration. Adding the legs is the last thing I do.

+4, I just moved a wms pin out of my basement this way, removing the head and pulling the PF. Just make sure the wire harness isn’t going to hang up on something when you pull it.. otherwise pretty straight forward but slightly awkward to lift out due to weight. Very do-able though.

Huh! I guess I’ll give that a shot then! Thanks a ton for the tips.
