Here’s a look at my $35 Amazon purchase for my Freddy. Just used Velcro to attach. Also added DIY stadium lights to mine because this game is stupid dark.

Did you test the car out anywhere else on the playfield? How did you bolt the car down? Thanks

Freddy: A Nightmare On Elm Street

I thought about putting the car in the upper playfield on the wire form but it was just easier to Velcro the car near the shooter lane. Not sure how I’d attach it to the wire form. Right now it’s floating on a plastic platform that came with it and just Velcro. I shake my cab pretty good and it hasn’t gone anywhere. The Freddy figure that came with the car has Velcro on each foot and is supported by the plexiglass by the captive ball.

Just got this mint freddy today. Is the only one I have found that doesn't have wear all over the playfield. So needless to say I ordered a playfield protector before I got home. This baby will never leave the collection. And it feels so good to be back in this awesome club.

Congrats... Do you know where the previous owner got the house or TV from? Thanks

#810 2 years ago

You weren’t kidding. That machine is nice! Good score and welcome back to the club. I can’t tell if that house is plastic or not but Toyotaboy made a couple a while back. I have one of them. If interested, I would reach out to him and see if he would do another run.

that looks like popsicle sticks and dowl rods, definitely not mine. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

This was made of wood and is amazing. It has a freddy I inside and it hinges where you can easily access the inside led light strip . The lcd mod was custom made with pieces of the neca TV freddy and plays the whole first nightmare on elm Street movie.

Ah, ok. Then I know where that Freddy came from then. Lyons Arcade restored that machine awhile back. You should check out the restore on YouTube. Ronny did an excellent job on it.

Hey guys. Quick question. My divertor behind freddys head is broken and needs replaced and the only replacement I can find is the one for the shooter lane. Are they the same size? I don't have a manual so I can't look it up but I have a feeling that they are.

It's not the same. According to the manual, the part number that you are needing is this : MA-1791B

After years of searching and lurking on this page, I am so excited Today to add a Freddy Nightmare on Elm Street to my line up! I was lucky enough to find a home used only with under 1000 life plays on it! It is in immaculate condition aside from the claw. Now to Led out this guy so I can brighten it up!
Also odd question is it normal to near a odd clicking noise when its on attract mode? The clicking sound happens about every 10 seconds.

When I owned freddy, LED's made a huge difference. Make sure you get non-ghosting, gottliebs are picky

The clicking noise you hear are relays (notice when it clicks the lights change). Yes, even in the 90s gottlieb was still using mechanical relays for lamps, just like they were still using those wedged acorn nuts for posts from the 50's.

Thank you so much! This is my first Gottlieb, so I was unsure if that clicking was normal.

Loving my Freddy but noticed that the backglass does not stay lit in attract mode. It lights up during a game though, does anyone know why this is?

Mine does not do that. I would take a look at the 3 mechanical relays for lamps in the bottom of your cabinet on the right hand side. My theory would be that would be the best place to start diagnostic the problem. I could be wrong but I suspect that the best place to start.

I concur. I had that same issue and it ended up being the Relay. Just a minor adjustment because it wasn't closed.

Bent the switch and it lights up perfect now, thanks!

Make sure you order a playfield protector ASAP as these gottliebs paint will literally flake off and there is no replacement playfields ever being made. Was the 1st thing I ordered for mine and happily installed it with no issues at all. Mine is in immaculate condition as well.

Hey fellow freddy folks! My left flipper isnt hitting as hard as it should. Any input on where to begin would be helpful. So far i lightly sanded the contacts on the button switches hoping for a super easy fix. Sorry for such a basic 101 question.
TIA

Hey everyone. It's been a while!
Two questions for the group...

1) What is the Playfield Protector of choice for those of you who are going that route? Any issues?

2) My Upkicker behind Freddy's head, which sends the ball up the wire ramp, severely lags at this point. A lot of times during game play, the ball will just sit there for over a minute or so, and then eventually kick up and send the ball up the ramp. Beyond getting an entirely new Upkicker (which are hard to find) what part/parts should I be looking to fix this?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

I don’t have a ton of experience with that either but I would think it could be a weak flipper coil or a bad connection

So if I understand #2 correctly it seems that you might have an issue with your upkicker microswitch that tells the game there is a ball in there. After a certain amount of time of the game not seeing any inputs it will try to locate a lost or trapped ball by activating the coils. That’s probably why it triggers after a minute if I had to guess.

Thanks a ton for the reply, @newtothis. Definitely something I'll dig into. I guess the only thing I'd add is that not all upkickers fire looking for a lost ball, it's just the upkicker the ball is in. Unless of course, maybe that's the first upkicker to look for a lost ball, it finds one, and the game continues? I'll definitely report back!

Check also that the upkicker moves freely by hand as well without binding. If you have a bad coil sleeve for example it may be bound up and you would get no indication that it is trying to kick the ball

Sadly my Freddy was aquired 20 years ago and partial teardown was started. The dude somehow lost parts and others damaged getting moved in storage until i acquired it last year.

Thankfully our community is strong and was given a spare cabinet and playfield for my project.

What wasn't found was recreated by some of our great mebers here. mrsyfy was was wicked fast in making me a new Freddy head, glove & shooter. @toyodaboy made a sick house for mine and a boiler for a clients thats currently in que for restoration.

Unfortunately my que is clogged up so my Kruger will need to wait till a clients is done first.

Question...just got a Freddy yesterday. Everything I watched prior to buying, showed multi ball right off the get go by shooting into the boiler room. Mine doesn't do that, I hit the boiler room and Freddy just spits the ball out. Is there a setting to turn that on? Do I have a different code?

Every odd nightmare should be a multi-ball (1,3,5)
I haven’t been through the settings on my Freddy in a while and I have a few machines so I may be mixing up my memory with a different machine but I think there is a setting for multi-ball difficulty. If so, maybe that has something to do with it

Just checked mine. And yes it gives me multiball it I shoot the boiler right off the start. Might be a setting.

New owner of a Freddy pinball. Is the captive ball just a single ball (like on my machine) or are there multiple balls in there? The manual on page 67 shows 3x #17 in the diagram and #17 is the steel ball on the parts list. Thanks

I agree the manual says 3. Mine also only has 1. Maybe it was a misprint, a design change, or maybe there is a reason people are pulling out 2 of the 3. Quite the coincidence that both of ours only have 1.
