Yes, the Glove Flipper looks good. I actually prefer the original glove over the reproduction glove. Even if broken. Yes, please share what the paint is.

#702 50 days ago

Almost 30 years later and I still have no idea why you would actually want to flip the ball off the ramp with the glove?

#703 49 days ago

I think I saw somewhere that you get some sort of special bonus when you use the claw flipper and hitting the captive ball target but it's possible that I am remembering that incorrectly. I'll send the paint information and attach some pictures of the repair a little later in the day when I get home

Another easy mod that may help someone is adding LEDs to the back dark part of the play field. I found color changing LEDs on Amazon that were extremely easy to install. The kit had enough to do the back of the play field and enough left over to add a nice glow to the outside of the machine. The included remote allows me to change the color based on my mood. Nice plug and play kit. Here’s some quick before and after pictures

I should have mentioned that you can adjust the brightness, make it strobe or constantly change colors and you can plug it into the power source inside the machine and it will turn on and off with the machine automatically

Yeah you are supposed to hit the captive ball to the right of the boiler with the claw shot.

What worked for me and my machine is 11147 Iris paint for the purple part of the paint. I also got black paint and a detail paint brush set. As you can see if you look close where I repaired the purple that it is that shade of purple with small black or maybe dark purple dots throughout so I just dabbed around with the black on a pointed brush until I got the detail matching as close as possible. I’m no artist so I’m sure someone else could have done better but my machine looks a million times better now than before. I don’t have a really good before picture but my play field had some pretty significant damage. I also had some wear spots on the side of the machine through the chain artwork that I was able to repair

While I’m rambling… I haven’t seen anyone else mention this issue but my machine was LED swapped. The issue was that the LED translite was so bright that it caused a glare on the play field glass that made it hard to see part of the play field from the shooters position. I changed all of the background light bulbs back to incandescent and left the flashing bulbs LED and I couldn’t be happier. Looks better, and I can see to play better. The first picture shows the glare, the second shows before and the third is current

Yup its a common problem to have a glare especially with bright bulbs. There is glare guards you can get that block the reflection of the trans light and I think you can even get special glass that won't have a glare.

#710 49 days ago

Thanks, I didn’t know that. I think my next project with it will be to add some additional lighting similar to how TNT Amusements did in one of their videos. They added some purple lighting to theirs and it really seemed to turn out well. I assume lighting the play field would offset some glare as well

Hello all, got a Freddy a couple years ago, my first pin that I fell in love in while at the Vegas museum. A couple issues I fixed over the past few years but a recurring problem is how inconsistent the spitting of the ball from Freddy's mouth. At times he will spit it across the way to the right hand upper flipper area which seems right, but often he will just spit it out and the ball just kind of dribbles out. This is a big problem since when he just spits it out slowly like that the ball goes straight down in the center and no way to stop it, so instant ball losses. I had replaced the coil, springs, etc on the up kicker for the mouth which improved things for a few plays but wondering why it keeps being so inconsistent.

I can play the game several times where he spits it out fine, a bit random in how hard or long the spitting goes, but then I will get a row of games where every ball just kind of dribbles out of the mouth and it's instant losses.

I have the exact same issue and also replace all the mouth shooter parts and still have it. I am really at a loss to why it does it. Not sure if the game sometimes gives a lower voltage to the coil then others. I guess we could try upgrading to a stronger coil

I've seen this before and it's always been the metal bracket under Freddy's head. It was lose and needed to be tighten down. With that said, I would take Freddy's head off and test and see how it performs.

#714 48 days ago

I can see if anything feels loose, I was wondering too if it was the bouncy jaw mechanism kind of getting in the way, hitting the ball when its trying to spit.

It's a super inconsistent problem, like sometimes the machine is spitting fine and works no problem, and then like yesterday I had multiple games in a row where every ball is like "bleh" and just pukes the ball straight down the middle line

1 week later
#715 41 days ago

I just checked mine and the only thing that I see that has play is the jaw has side to side play. Might be worth taking off the jaw mechanism and see if that improves it or possibly try and record the ball coming out in slow motion to see if it is hitting anything it shouldn't

#716 41 days ago

I've always wondered if it's just the jaw bouncing hitting the ball and causing it to dribble. That thing bounces alot

Hi guys,

I'm still working on my Freddy pinball machine, I'm looking for extra plastics in good shape, please let me know. Thanks.

So haven't done anything to it, and the freddy head spits wonderfully now, it's such an odd problem that seems to maybe just be a design flaw? Friend playing one day had it constantly dribble down the middle. Yesterday I played for almost an hour and Freddy never dribbled the ball and was spitting out nice and strong each time. I didn't adjust anything so that is odd.

My freddy glove seems to be a solid resin like cast piece. Is the original also a resin piece or is it like a light plastic? Wondering if mine is repro. It was fine when I got it but one day while playing the entire glove just went flying, the screws holding it in at the bottom had fallen out and when I used the glove flipper it sent it flying onto the play field which snapped one blade. Used stronger/longer screws and also added a dab of epoxy to the threading to make it extra strong when installed, also fixed the broken blade but still wondering if this was a repro.

Send a picture and we can confirm if it's a reproduction or not

Yea I don't know I watched mine spitting the balls, and I don't see the jaw getting hit by the ball so it is a mystery. The only think I can chalk it up is something has too much play maybe and is interfering.

Hi guys,

Anyone can post a picture of the upper right flipper to see cable connections? Thanks

So Freddy restoration continue, playfield ready, some touch ups, it’s not perfect but the condition it arrived ….

Some solenoid not working, so I will address that later, just installing parts and checking what’s missing.

Dang. Too bad we don't have a plastic set of these. I wish someone would get them scanned and then have PBresource sell them.

I might scan or take high quality images of mine when I shop my game out. I think all mine are in pretty decent shape

#728 27 days ago

Is there anyone that made a color DMD for this game? The game would look awesome with a color dmd in it

#729 27 days ago

That would be great if you were able to get some scans. Over time we all know that these plastics can break. So would be good to have reproduction ones as an option to preserve the game.

As for the ColorDMD, to my knowledge, it hasn't been done. Has any Gottlieb's System 3's got this treatment?

#730 27 days ago

That would be great, Thanks!

It’s incredible how scarce this machine is, not much information and some parts are really hard to find, unless someone tears down a machine, which is really pity, so guys enjoy and appreciate your Freddy Pinball!!

I don't believe colorDMD works with any gottlieb. However Pin2dmd can be and someone colorized gottlieb street fighter

It has been a long journey, Freddy is rejuvenated and just a few small details a head, thanks to a pinside friend it was possible to reproduce the speaker acrylic, thanks man!!

I was able to polished the Mylar and looks amazing, it was dull and sad.

Still learning how to play this pin but already one of my favorites, a rare bird and extremely difficult to find parts, it worth the wait….. what about a little napping now!!

Anyone 3d modeled the glove in this game? I have one with two broken blades on the hand. .

#741 13 days ago

No one to my knowledge is making them anymore. The guy that was making them for Pinball Resources has stopped. You could always use a dremel and cut into the glove and replace blades with Lexan Plastic. Make sure to use epoxy. I've done these for a couple of the gloves. Actually prefer that over the reproduction one.

#742 13 days ago

Can the hand be activated anytime or only in certain times while playing?

#743 13 days ago

So little Freddy waiting for painting, 3D printed on Elegoo Mars Pro resin printer, where should I put it….?

Can someone do me a huge favor and tell me the size of the screw that goes in front of the Freddy head? There are two of them that secure the plastic there is it just a short screw? What size do these use?

I will be modeling one for ours then. Is there much of a need for them? I will print mine a with a high strength engineering resin. Should take the hit better than the original.

The glove flipper is activated by shooting the Mystery shot and only when the yellow light is flashing
