So a friend an I were browsing around a flea market store in Fort Collins and he pulled this photo out of a box full of random old pictures.
I’m posting to see if anyone knows what is going on here and/or who is in the picture.

Interesting. There are 6 games:
1. Bally 8-ball (9/77)
2. Bally Black Jack (6/78)
3. Stern Stars (3/78)
4. Williams World Cup (3/78) - in service position
5. Williams World Cup (3/78) - backglass removed
6. Bally 8-ball (9/77) - backbox opened
Quoted from Tyamry:2. Looks like a Bally Black Jack
Agreed.

Hmmm...
Early solid state days. No EMs present. 4 of the 6 games are multiples. 3 different manufacturers. Half the games are being inspected/serviced/shown off (but no gameplay). I don't see tools lying around, but rather paperwork. No nametags so I assume they are all affiliated.
Looks to me like an operator/service company and a tech or new equipment seminar.

I was thinking distributor or trade show or something like that, as well.
I'll second the training session idea for two reasons: all the machine manuals lying on the tables and the opened-up games in the background as mentioned. Probably a repair tech event. A few of the people look familiar, but I wasn't taking photos at pinball events that far back so I have none to compare with. The one I think I can identify is the kid with the "10" shirt: I believe that's Dallas Overturf, who beat me for the US Open title in 1980. I'll pass the photo along to a friend of his who might be able to confirm it.
Looks like a hotel room for seminars with the divider panels in the backgound. Guess late 1978 or 1979 for training. Midwest is only a guess for location USA.
3rd from the right looks like a young Dennis Nordman, but I have no idea if it actually is him or not.

I bought it for $1

You might be able to ask his sister whom seems to have an account here (although hasn’t logged in for a while).

I did ask his sister, Sarah, and heard from her late last night that no, it's not Dallas. I also checked with Josh and he said no, that's not Roger, either. Well, we're trying_ to figure this out.
Good old days! We really need to go back to those times in many respects!
Neat picture for sure. Even better to understand the history behind. Great find!!

You mean the days where I had hair?

Better to have bad hair than no hair
Definitely a Distributor training school for operators. Most sold multiple brands of equipment but not all due to "protected territories" This probably explains the lack of a Gottlieb machine.
The guy 2nd from the right sure looks like a Cleveland Coin guy.
6th from right, dude looks like someone from the Detroit area. May have worked for Michigan Nickel Co. or Fontana Brothers....
