Game - for sale

For sale or trade: Embryon

Added: 2022-01-09 23:00:00 UTC • Re-listed: 1 time (February 21st, 2022) • Ended: February 26th, 2022
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Price

$ 2,500

This Embryon plays perfectly. It has a brand-new Alltek solenoid driver board and an Alltek Ultimate MPU. The lamp driver board and sound board are original. I added LEDs throughout. The backglass has a few small scratches but they’re not very noticeable. The playfield has some small flaws which are highlighted in the pics; these are very common wear areas on this machine. The cabinet is in excellent condition overall, although a previous owner did add a credit button.

The biggest (and most expensive) addition to this game is that I added new X-Pin displays to allow seven-digit scoring. In my opinion, this is an absolute MUST on Embryon; it’s a very high scoring game and easy to roll over, as you can see from my 2 million plus high score.

I'm open to trades, and I'll consider adding cash on my end for the right trade. I'm mainly interested in '80s-era games.

GLWS. That's a nice example. The best playing Bally widebody.

$3250 is RICH.

Lots of wear down to the wood in the upper areas & the incubator captive ball area.

Nice sharpie touch-up though.

Agreed, some of the trades are overzealous as well. Looks like a sub 2k games to me.

I barely got $1500 for my Embryon. Fun game but lets be realistic a nice one should be $2k or less.

To be fair, you'll note that I said in the ad that I'll add cash on the trade. I'm NOT expecting straight trades. I paid $2,000 for this game over a year ago and put about $600 into it, and the market has gone crazier since then. You'll also note that I never said the price was firm. My plan was to list it for what I thought it might be worth and adjust the price over time since, as I said in the ad, I'm not in a rush to get rid of it. I also laugh at folks who list a NIB game for $30k, but I don't think it's unreasonable to ask around $3k for an uncommon early Bally. However, shortly after I adjust the price this evening, I will turn myself over to the Price Police and await my community service, which will presumably consist of replacing Bally wedge lamps for 15 hours a week.

Certain parts of the pinball market has indeed gone crazy recently. Players quality embryon's aren't part of the segment that went crazy though. NIB games selling for $30k today have nothing to do with a 40 year old bally embryon price.
I'd say $1500 is your real value. GLWS!

I also wish that you could still buy early '80s Bally machines for $1,500, but based on archived ads, the fact that I already turned down one full price offer because I didn't want to ship, and the fact that I'm in no hurry to sell it, I'll let it ride for now.

I agree. Standard nice EM’s are clearing $1000-1200 now for us here. Embryon is harder to find than most. I’m guessing $2200-2600? So your fair in my opinion. BUT…. If you take that creepy embryo off the front door key chain, I bet it sells!! GLWS

I've owned a pile of Bally SS games, they are my passion. I've played quite a few Embryons at shows and did when they were on location and that title usually has a much worse PF than this one. The fact that CPR hasn't done a PF, makes it harder to find one with a decent PF. Perhaps a hardtop someday.

Having played every Bally widebody and owned a Paragon for years, I'd take Embryon over Paragon. Paragon looks better but game play on Embryon is better.

Most Bally SS games have jumped in price over the last 3 years. Get used to it.

you should probably buy this one then. Might wanna give the sharpie wear areas another "coat" of sharpie though.

Thanks for down voting my 1st GLWS post.

I guess you're trying hard for your "Pinside Price Police" badge. Except there isn't a Pinside achievement for that.

No wonder you have 996 downvotes to 990 up and have been moderated 26 times.

Be happy and play pinball and quit attacking others.

Thanks guys. I'm trying not to be defensive, but I pride myself on being the kind of seller I like to deal with. I've got 100% positive feedback and I've made some great friends in this hobby. I had originally listed Embryon at $3,250 trade value, and maybe that was too high, but I'm always open to reasonable offers and I try to be square with folks, just as I hope folks will be square with me.
