Quoted from drfrightner:Look at Elvira LE now that game has worked its way up to 15K I bought mine brand new for 9000. Where will it end?
I’m not looking to derail this thread (but does anyone care at this point?) - but Elvira LE is no where near $15k. Just because there’s one outlier in the market (which probably isn’t real) doesn’t mean that’s the going rate. The last 2 that sold were $12k (with the $1k+ topper and other mods) and $10.8k with no mods. I wouldn’t pay more than $10k for one as I have a premium on order for $8200 (which will have several fixes that the LEs didn’t have and hopefully better clear coat).
(Back on topic) While most pins have had a moderate Covid bump, the POTC price madness is in its own category. It’s a high stakes game of musical chairs IMO. But I’m honestly surprised WoZ hasn’t increased more than it has considering there are lots of buyers and not that many sellers. The problem with YBR was how expensive it was to begin with. Most people would rather have a late production RR.
No offense to the OP but the dumb part of this sale (and the 20k MB and the 39k POtC) is that the OP is going to take significantly less than the asking price (selling at $12k-$13k if I had to guess). The MB won’t fetch more than $10k-$11k and the POtC around $19k.
YET the sale price in the archives will still show the original asking price (either with a line through it, a “best offer accepted”, or “decided to keep”, etc) and we’ll never know what the game actually sold for.
Then a bunch of folks are going to claim that WoZ is a $20k game, MB is a $20k game, etc. Don’t believe me? Scroll up a few posts and find the guy trying to argue EHOH LE is a $15k game b/c of one marketplace outlier like this one.
Maybe it’s all a funny joke now but it’s going to hurt us all by artificially inflating prices.
Quoted from TheFamilyArcade:Wait a minute. YBR ain’t worth $20k, EHOH ain’t worth $15k, but Tron LE is worth $25K all day...
No, no and no...unless someone will pay that for them. I guess if 2 or more pay those prices - those are the new market normal prices. I don’t really care anymore and am not going to try and make any sense about the current market.
