Have him do the friends option, no fee's and not sure if there is a risk of him doing a charge back and scamming you. As soon as it hits your PP account, transfer it to your bank.

I definitely would not do PP. I'm not sure of the rules, but I bet if you did friends/family and don't pay their fees they wouldn't cover you if something shady went down, plus from what I heard they lean hard in the buyer's favor anyways if a disagreement should arise. Someone mentioned to me about a service that is offered where a 3rd party holds the money in escrow until both parties are happy, that's the only way I would do something like this or a direct bank account wire.

Part of your PP agreement enables them to debit funds from your bank account. 15 years ago or so, I had a wacked out buyer chargeback and PP tried to debit my bank account immediately. Luckily, I used an account only for PP and there were no funds for them to grab. They did however freeze my PP account with significant assets for 6 months until they figured it all out. On day 179, they sent me an email saying everything was sorted out and released my funds(without interest of course).

PP works well, but just be careful.
