LOL perhaps not.

Sewer water or white water? That brown powder coating is a foul ball IMO.

#4 2 years ago

Nirco playfield huh, does changing the name of the company prevent chipping?

#5 2 years ago

Even the coin box is powder coated!!!!

Good thing...would be a shame to have more White Waters look like this

#7 2 years ago

I don't know, it feels like putting green neons under a 67 Mustang.
This is a good reminder of what the word "Restoration" means

#8 2 years ago

When I seen the price I thought it would of been a HEP,but sadly no.

Not even close!

On a second note:
Powdered inner cab leg braces?!?

#10 2 years ago

Wasn't this the same individual that had the IJ for sale and subsequent authenticity issues? (two different games in the photos, etc)

#11 2 years ago

hopefully he's not an interior decorator!

#12 2 years ago

HEP is basically a trademark. You really should change this ad to remove that reference because this is not a HEP game.

#13 2 years ago

This is without a doubt one of a kind. Call me crazy, but I dont hate the powder coat color. I have seen worse. GLWS!

#14 2 years ago

Yeah Dude -do NOT call this a HEP restored game unless it was restored by HEP.
The end.

#15 2 years ago

OP You should change your listing. Not a HEP dude! That is a specific restorer which ain’t your boy Dave

#16 2 years ago

This is not a HEP. Ad should be taken down

#17 2 years ago

Lmao this keeps getting better

#18 2 years ago

I really like it. I just can’t see going 16 plus on WW.

It was a typo. He meant HEAP not HEP

#22 2 years ago

I’m confused this is not a HEP restored game! It is a Dave Lucas restored game, so why does the title say HEP restored?

Ok… had to check out this thread because I bought Bryan Kelly’s restored WH2O from his own personal collection, which I believe is one of the nicest on the planet. I already appreciated Bryan’s work from some semi-restores (playfield swaps, etc) that he had done for me previously, but Bryan’s WH2O is beautiful beyond words. It is 100% faithful to the original build, yet is definitely better than any original coming off the Williams line. I can assure you that any true restorer has never “Pimped” any restorations.

#24 2 years ago

This guy has no integrity,I feel bad for anyone that buys a game from him.

#25 2 years ago

HEP would never put his name on that game. Not even in the same league.

#26 2 years ago

This might be the ugliest pin I’ve ever seen.

#27 2 years ago
Quoted from Damen:

This guy has no integrity,I feel bad for anyone that buys a game from him.

I didn’t have a good experience. I would never buy a game again from him. Spent more time fixing things not installed correctly and was not in the shape described. I bought parts from him and he did ship quickly. This is not a HEP restore. Your post is dead on.

#28 2 years ago

OMG, why did I open this tread

#29 2 years ago

Regardless of what people think about the game (personally, I kind of like the color scheme), labeling it as a HEP is false advertising. If Chris Hutchins didn’t do it while under his HEP branding (even he says work by him before HEP should not be considered HEP restores), then it is 100% false to say “HEP restored”. For those in the pinball community HEP is not a general term, rather, it specifically referes to a pin restored by High End Pins.

Realizing this may not be intentional on your part, I suggest that you just modify the title of your add, and you’ll be golden (pun intended).

#30 2 years ago

On another point not isolated to this WW, it seems to me that superlatives presented in a for sale ad are what evoke such critical responses. If one were to highlight all of the positive things about a pin in a humble manner by allowing the reader draw their own conclusions regarding the beauty/class of the game (eg not calling it the best example in the world, especially when it is not a restoration to OEM specs), then most of the backlash could be avoided.

Be proud of what you have, represent it honestly without making superlative statements, and see how the market responds.

#31 2 years ago

Any pin that's been "tricked out" like this makes me wanna vomit but this one absolutely takes the cake. Congrats

Moderator note: we’ve received many reports on this ad. Obviously this game is not Chris’ work, even the post identifies the restoration work as someone other than Chris though the OP is using the initials Chris has branded in our small little corner of the world. Some are saying the post violates a copyright or trademark...I’m not sure about that...if it violates something in the IP world it would be a service mark violation if Chris has one registered for HEP. If so, the protocol is for him to send us a take down notice of some kind.

Regardless, we can all see this is not a HEP machine and after the posts in here tonight I do not believe anyone is going to be confused on the purchase. The machine is certainly a nice machine, just not a HEP.

Anyway, that’s my two cents, I’ve asked other mods to take a look and see what they think. Have a good evening.

Under U.S. law you do not need to register a mark with the USPTO to own it. Active use by itself in context of your business grants ownership as long as your ARE actively using it though you should add (™) after the name or “mark” to put others on notice. Registering a mark is largely unnecessary for fair use though most businesses (including ours) do it as a matter of process at some point.

If you are aware of another business operating in the same industry with such mark you should stay far away from using it.

He did a fantastic job with that one especially. Shame on me for not having played it. With a few exceptions I’m a stickler for originality too.

Quoted from SpyroFTW:

Yeah I don’t hate it either. I think they were trying to make it like a wooden raft or boulder or something. I wouldn’t want it on my game but I’ve seen worse. I like all the rails and trim in my lineup looking factory.

I’m curious about cabinet prep and Radcal installation. The front cabinet bolts are over tightened and/or the surface under the Radcal isn’t flat.

#41 2 years ago

I also have a beautiful wh20 and it's done very well..... however it's no h.e.p restoration and I wld never try to pass it off as such. It's just a nicely restored pin where almost every part has been replaced with n.o.s or newly manufactured parts. Chris is amazing at what he does and I hope to own a few one day as they are just another level of beautiful.

You have to be conservative on how you tighten the bolts on the RadCals or they will pull in too much causing the RadCal buckle. He also should use a blue Sharpie on the corner edges where each panel meets to "tone down" the raw edge look.

This is the Reno, NV of Whitewater restorations.

Sure, but three letter acronyms in times Roman numeral font are notoriously hard to defend. Even IBM loses from time to time…the price of branding under a three letter acronym is utility…no lawyer I know would tell Chris he shouldn’t register HEP if he wants to start sending people take down notices and defending the acronym.

I'm just not a fan of Radcals. The super glossy look doesn't appeal to me at all. I'm probably in the minority, but I don't want a machine with them.

#46 2 years ago

Isnt using "HEP" incorrectly what chased xTheBlackKnightx off this site?
He claimed that HEP was an industry standard term to describe pins...

I agree and prefer decals in every situation.
The game does not look that bad. I would not have powder coated, but you can see an incredible amount of work went into this.
It will sell for over 14k

#48 2 years ago

I know something about bad restorations and white water machines. I am restoring a white water that TNT did. There videos are funny and informative. The crew did not put any love or quality into the repair or restoration of this white water. Hacks, duct tape, wrong used parts. Let’s just say I am really holding back. A pinball machine is only as good as the last person who worked on it.

No, it doesn't. Somebody will step up to the plate.... probably.

Looks like this resto is a “Alan Smithee” production.

Still not as garish as the SW Comic Book Art(bomination) though.
