What I have here is a players condition Whirlwind that works and plays great, topper and all.

throw it together!
free bump

It's a fair price when you add it all up. GLWS

#6 4 years ago

I would think it should be thrown together for that price.

for real?

What do you value the core game at?
It looks pretty roached.

CPR silver, ramps, plastics are what ... $1200-1400 in parts?

I don’t think I would call that game “roached”. The cab looks ok, usual wear. Side art is still in decent shape and not too faded. Games seems to light and play at least from the pics and description. Playfield is pretty worn but there’s a new one included in the price as well as two new ramps, decals and plastics.

Having just shopped a Whirlwind myself with new plastics, the plastics are around $180 or so, ramps are probably in the $200 range for both (maybe more), decals, etc are around $80 for the full set. Add in the CPR silver playfield that is no longer available and was $800 or so new and you have around $1300 in parts or so. So he’s asking $2650 for the core game which seems fairly reasonable for a Whirlwind. Last ones I have seen in decent playing condition have been $3300-3500.

#9 4 years ago

Ramp set 350.00
CPR Silver 800.00
Plastics 160.00

Base game 2500.00

So with that, I get 3810.00 ... He doesn't say FIRM, so if a potential buyer has at least 1 nut, he could make an offer for the price of asking. If there were no added parts, that WW is worth 2650 all day.

#10 4 years ago

If he was a lot closer to me, I'd be willing to make a string offer on this one!

I had no idea that roached (yeah that current pf is pretty bad IMHO) Wwind were now going for this much!

I guess GLWS, but sounds like the OP wont need it.

Agree the playfield is worn. The entire game is not “roached”.

If you took the time to do the PF swap and install all the ramps/plastics/etc you would have a very nice example.

The real question to me is what is someone’s labor time worth doing the work. That’s really up to the buyer to decide.

My Whirlwind has new plastics, LEDs and a decent looking playfield and I wouldn’t sell it for less than $3500 (it’s not for sale).

#14 4 years ago

I find some of the comments amusing, like every for sale post needs to be some super bargain or it’s just not good.

I just listed a nice POTCwith a price drop of $400 for $3600! I’ve done my good will for the month.

And I clearly stated above the price I’m ASKING to walk away from this, as I really don’t have a problem putting together this gem of a game.

The numbers easily match up, if you don’t agree, move along...

The days of getting paid for restoring a game is over. Nobody will drop the price because you need to put labor in.

Fair deal before, I think a good deal with your price drop. Someone up your way wanting to get into a WW should jump on that. GLWMS!

11pm bump!

BUMP x 2 ,,LOL

I think this deal is pretty fair, and I’m usually critical of pricing.

Glwts.

Not to mention, can you even find a cpr for this around?

If Blackbeard says its ok, it's a freaking bargin!!!!

Blackbeard should come to Pintastic and buy it.

Trust me, if I felt confident enough to do a swap, I would.

#27 4 years ago

Thanks,

I'll end up doing it, it's just not a summer thing for me to do, so it'll sit around for a few months.

Eventually, it will either go to someone that loves this and realizes the goods here, or I'll put it together when summer closes and love what I'm putting together. It's a win win either way for me.

#28 4 years ago

Have a pinsider stroking me back and forth, he’ll take it, then he won’t, then he will, then radio silence.

Still here- bump

It’s a lot of work doing a playfield swap. Problem is value of game only gets increased by new parts, no one wants to pay labor for the guy doing all the heavy lifting.

i think it is the opposite. People will happily pay for the pf swap, but when a base game is so over priced, there is no meat on the bone to recoup for the effort needed.

There is a reason this package is still here after more than 2 weeks.

#31 4 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

I just think that usually people buy a base game, then maybe a PF down the road, see that the ramps are now available and buy them, then get plastics later. If they kept all their receipts, they would know that this package is well worth shooting an offer on. (Extended version of post #5)

#32 4 years ago

Seems like everyone whines about people recouping some of their labor but apparently no one wants to do it themselves. I think this worth asking price although I am subject to a different market than most of you. I wish I had access to projects like this.

wish I had the patience for this. What does a Whirlwind playfield look like underneath in comparison to a Pinbot?
