Haha, I honestly don't think anyone else will like it either but people like all kinds of stuff I don't so....

I'll be paying someone to come get it by Christmas. Hopefully it not 10k though..

Ouch - your taking a hit. I played it at a show for a few games I didn’t think it was that bad.

To each their own… good luck on your sale, at this price it will sell likely pretty fast.

Meh, I have plenty of games that have doubled in value or more so it's not a big deal. They can't all be winners. Hopefully it sells at that price. I'm honestly not convinced lol.

GLWS.

Your Ad made me laugh. Not the price of course but the description.

Doing great. I love that game. One of my absolute favorites.

I appreciate humor and honesty in a sales ad. Looks to be a great price

#14 6 months ago

Good luck - Hope you sell this soon. I felt the same way about Halloween and just wanted it out of my house ASAP!

#15 6 months ago

Decent price. It's nice to see some games are coming down to somewhat reasonable prices.

#16 6 months ago

I'd have been tempted to list for $5999 just out of spite. Good luck on your sale.

Ok agree with the sentiment - but this is not right That a new pin takes that much of a hit.

He is OK with it so that’s fine but this is a reflection on this title not the market.

#18 6 months ago

Damn, I thought this was a scam at first. I’ve never played it but at this price I’d buy it and set it next to Godzilla.
If this was in my neighborhood I’d be on my way over with a stack o’ cash.

#19 6 months ago

Hell if I was closer - I would risk it that maybe the code would get better. I played it at a show … played better … played worse games. This game is just not getting love and there are some great new titles Godzilla, Bond hard to hold space if you don’t like it. Few games lose value like this…but I would risk it for a theme like this and Spooky to improve the code some over time.

I am just too far away…

The big price discrepancy between the recent Ultraman + Halloweens listings (for anyone OOTL, they seem to be trading hands for ~6k and ~8k, respectively) is a perfect example of the direct impact theme has on a games value. They're both beautiful games, but Ultraman is a niche theme, and we're seeing the results of that combined with a polarizing layout and underbaked code... the same issues aren't haunting Halloween to nearly the same extent, value-wise. Halloween has earning potential on location, Ultraman not so much, and I assume that's a big part of this too... routing an Ultraman in most locations seems like a good way to confuse the general public, although I think in the right spot it could work well.

I love that Spooky was willing to go out on a limb with a theme like this, I LOVE Ultraman as a theme. But woof, this is rough. Makes me curious how much my Standard will be worth in the future.

Same.

I love Ultraman, but my partner absolutely will not allow it unless it’s Halloween. Personally UM>Halloween, but can’t much do about it!

Ouch. I sold my NIB UMCE w/butter for $8,750 last December (after playing early code in an arcade). Lost $1,250...oh well.

It's not the theme, it's the game. The layout was done by less than seasoned folks and the software was/is underwhelming. I bought it after falling in love with my Rick and Morty...thinking the company was going to hit another home run. Wishful thinking, I guess. You win some, you lose some. No big deal.

You're missing my point (probably cause I don't really have a point, just an observation).

There are 5 UM for sale right now in the 6-7k range (all CE's), including a Butter that's been sitting for a while at 6400 (oof). Cheapest Halloween is listed for 8300, and they're trading hands for above that.

There is a consistent, significant difference in value between the two titles on the secondhand market. I'm not arguing anything here, I'm not talking about the objective quality of the game or anything like that, I'm just pointing out the quantifiable difference in value purely due to theme. It's just interesting to see.

Interesting. Yeah, the price difference is surprising, but Halloween is obviously a much more popular, mainstream license (which was your observation). I was unaware of Ultraman, but opted for it because I thought it was cool/quirky, more limited and fit well with pinball.

I guess my only point is if it was a solid game with fun shots and software, both licenses would have done better.

I hear you and agree. If this exact same game and code where wrapped around “the Witcher” series and they had as much access to the Witcher IP as they have to Ultraman IP, the price point would be significantly higher. Ultraman is just simply not a draw as a theme.

As an aside, I like my Ultraman…I was very dissatisfied with the game upon arrival, but the code has improved significantly. The original exceedingly poor code and the weirdness of subways will haunt this title for years, but it will eventually recover to some extent.

#26 6 months ago

I got in at 6900 and quickly got out at 6900 and felt lucky to (especially since someone who is a HUGE UM fan is enjoying it and that made me happy). But for whatever reason it was the first and only pin that on day one I knew it had to go ASAP. I actually think the call out/voice actor killed it for me. For those enjoying with new code updates, that's great news.

#28 6 months ago

And this is exactly why I walked away from my deposit a couple months ago!

Game doesn't deserve the massive drop in price that it's taking, but the market does what the market wants.

#29 6 months ago

Man, this is crazy!! I have a HWN so I didn’t feel like I needed another of the same layout, but after playing at a show - the Ultraman is a phenomenal partner to a GZ (which everyone seems to have!), the game is fun as hell!

I’m seriously considering shipping to my folks in OH. Damn it, this is a tough one

#30 6 months ago

This game is as rare as the upcoming Bond 60th anniversary edition. Seems like a heck of a good deal at this price.

Fing awesome dude !! Some of these ads really make me question this hobby and the people in it .1) I purchased two of these and decided I only need one 2) Very underrated game with only three plays 3) I really like this game but my wife (who doesn’t play pinball ) doesn’t 4) We’re moving and don’t have room ,trades interested in are ….. 5) Need the space for a Thunderbirds I just picked up

It's bad enough that there currently exists a 2K difference between the two spooky themes but, UM at 500 is 2.5x more limited than HW at 1250 and this relative scarcity should actually help, but isnt.

Be careful not to equate rarity with value. Lots of rare pins are not valuable because they are not good. Not commenting on UM. Just in general.

Your common sense is not welcome here. I'm looking for a patsy to take this game and common sense won't help with that.

I know nothing about Ultraman so it was a de facto unlicensed theme for me when I played it in the wild. Enjoyed it on that level.

I had Cosmic Carnival. Beautifull game but was really no fun to play and that was 1 of 25 machines. Rare means nothing if the game is bad. I respect the just get rid of it ad. Been there.

Agree. I purchased mine at 6900 in the early days when that was far lower that anyone had priced it and bought it due to the beauty of the art, some interest in theme, but mostly...the FOMO. I however was disappointed and learned not to make anymore FOMO pinball purchases simply based on scarcity, rarity etc. Sorry if not helpful OP because I have huge respect for your honesty
A true UM fan will definitely enjoy this game. I was lucky to sell mine to a huge UM fan who explained to me that many of the sounds that meant nothing to me actually meant something important in the show, and a few easter eggs which was really fun to learn about and made me appreciate the pin more. Hope you find your UM fan too!

And I still really like playing it!

I thought I got a good deal, but this one is amazingly good at 6000.

It has had a lot of small physical quirks I have managed to sort out with considerable effort.

Love the theme, and the newest code has improved the game with another year of code updates to come, including one this October.

It's mostly a matter of personal taste, for example, I REALLY dislike Monster Bash, while everyone else seems to love it.

A guy I know could not sell his Stern JP fast enough, and I've had mine over a year and I play it every day.

Whatever; it's only a game.

The game makes a great companion to Godzilla, as they are similar themes (and Godzilla makes an appearance “in disguise”). The game shoots GREAT but is not as much a flowy game as say, GZ. I own a HWN but have only played Ultraman at shows, and man was it fun. The code is significantly ahead of HWN as of right now, and the multi-playfields add a lot of variety to what is already a very interesting shot layout. People are really missing out.
