Game - for sale

For sale: TX-Sector

Added: 2021-04-14 22:00:00 UTC • Re-listed: 2 times (July 9th, 2021) • Ended: September 20th, 2021
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Price

$ 4,600 (Firm) (CAD)

Price is firm

I have owned this machine for about 5 or 6 years. When I first got it I did a top side teardown, cleaned the playfield, installed all new rubber (including translucent sling shot rubbers from Titan), cleaned the playfield, plastics, etc removed the tape that was over top of the broken drop target, touched up that area, replaced the broken drop target with a new one and installed a new drop target decal. I addressed any top side issues that I ran into. I think there were a couple missing/broken posts for eg.

I installed LED’s throughout. I also removed the ballast and starter and installed a LED tube in the backbox.

The CPU is very clean and was sent out for professional. The original battery was removed and a button style CR2025 battery and holder were installed.

I did all the ground mods for the boards. I also replaced the capacitor in the cabinet.
Flippers were rebuilt. I installed new leg bolts, leg levelers and new locks for the coin door and head.

I also installed a new sheet of glass and printed off new apron cards.

Displays are working great.

Plastics are in great condition. Only one has a chip by the drop targets. I installed clear lexan washers under the plastics in vulnerable areas.

The cabinet has its usual bumps and bruises.

The metal guide on the left orbit has a tab that has broken free. I only noticed it today when cleaning the playfield so not sure long it has been that way but it does not affect game play at all. I took a close up photo of it. See link below.

Playfield has a large area of factory mylar which preserved the art very nicely!
Outside the mylared areas are still in very good condition. Some of the lower inserts are raised up a bit (level 4 down to the shoot again inserts).

The translite is original and in very nice condition.

Someone made a couple custom metal ramp protectors for the side ramp and an end protector at the back of the ramp where the ball drops onto the playfield.

I have had this game in many league nights and tournaments and it has been a solid and reliable machine. I have it dialed in and playing great. I have been using it lately in the recent virtual ICR tournaments.

Today I vacuumed out the cabinet, cleaned up the playfield and rubbers and installed brand new balls.

Here is a video tour of the machine that I just took:

Not a knock against the game , but when I look at the center of the translite, it looks like a guy with a red shirt and mustache with arm raised.

#3 3 years ago

It’s funny you say that I’ve always thought that also. I always think of the pringles guy.

#4 3 years ago

Great game. Don’t come up too often.

#5 3 years ago

I've owned 2. Both didn't last long.

Tempted to do what? Pay double what it's worth? You could buy a recent stern pro for 6K

You realize the price is in Canadian funds right?

People are paying more for classic sterns. This game trumps any of those games.

This would actually be about $2500 (CAD) cheaper than buying a Stern Pro

Oh gee really? Is that what we could get? Thanks for your invaluable insight here.

#15 3 years ago

$4800 USD it works out to does that mean you are selling a TX Sector for $2400 US if so I will take it. .

Pretty easy to complain about prices when you not the one selling.

No, this game is inlane -> spinner all day and gets boring. The NES-style music is cool but nearly all classic Sterns play better IMHO.

What’s the YouTube channel?

I respect your opinion. I had most of the popular classic sterns, before they were popular, in my 30 years of collecting. All are gone.

Talk about spinners and drops all day long with no multiball on most. Not for me.

To each their own. My point was, the price point.

I've been through a ton of games. Early so through bksor. Tx is pretty cool andi I won't likely sell mine for a very long time...but I just moved it out of the game room 20 minutes ago to make room for quicksilver. The old school games have the it factor for me. We just keep going back to play again and again whereas Metallica, star trek, bksor and Ll the "newer" stuff is one and done. Probably because there's just too much shit slowing the game down. Its not uncommon for our ball times on flash gordon to be less than ten seconds. That's just way better for me. I want my ass kicked every time I play aside from a great game once every 50 tries.

#22 3 years ago

Ha, ya replied on the wrong message at first lol...

I also gravitate to the older games mainly because the newer games are really easy to acquire if I want them. I have short attention span and don’t like playing more than 5 minute games so the older games keep me way more engaged and give me more a fun factor for sure. I will play 10 games of Gemini and like 1 game of TNA.

TX is available again. Shipping from Canada to the USA is doable but very pricey and that has held up a few interested parties. So on that note....TX TX TX!!!!

Agreed. Currently in my game room, CJ, Hoops and Tag Team get far more play than anything else. All ass kickers with hard mini-objectives but feel great when you nail them.
I sometimes wonder why I buy these new high-dollar games.

#27 2 years ago

Yes it is still available and I also have tag team and it is an awesome game I have hung onto it for years because of it's fun factor. Typically games don't last that long in my collection!

Hoops is great. I play mine everyday pretty much!

Not really saying this is a top ten game, but I will say that this is easily in the top ten on MY list of most fun games. I play it all the time and it never gets old. I'll take TX Sector over any System 11 and the sound track is also my favorite for any 80s game.
