Can I be your brother? GLWS

    #3 1 year ago

That would look even more spectacular with a ColorDMD.

    #4 1 year ago

Why does just about every Tron sale ad state “you won’t find one nicer” or “won’t find a better one” “pristine” “hardly played” “mint” etc?

    Good looking Tron though!

    Following.

No color DMD, shooter lane is about to fall apart, and ugly white zipties all over the ramp lights.

Best I can offer is $1500

I'm not sure. It just seemed more appropriate than saying "game looks ok".

I guess I could put on a color DMD and then charge more.

I agree, nothing worse than a shooter lane falling apart. I keep having nightmares that I wake up and the lane is at the bottom of the cabinet. In fact, sometimes I'll check the game multiple times a night to make sure everything is good. So far I've been lucky.

What zipties look the best? Black?

Let me think about that $1500 offer.....shoot, my brother just told me NO. Don't worry, I'll work on him, as he's not very smart at recognizing a great offer.

416 plays? That's like playing only 1 game every 2 weeks. Since your game is still considered a baby and barely broken in, my brother thinks his Tron can beat up your Tron.

Where do you get the recognizer bank. I don't recognize

I don't recognize the bank mod (Pun intended). But seriously, where do you get it?

    #19 1 year ago

I love Tron, love the movie, love the game. An LE is definitely a limited quantity and certainly rare, especially with the extra mode. I don’t get this

Used to be available at MezelMods (might still be). It involves replacing the drop targets which will then flash different colors when you hit it

    Quoted from sqwalker:

I'm just joking around. Mezel was selling them for a bit, he stopped years ago. I had the idea, he made the 3d printed target bank bracket and sent me one.....I actually found MY GAME on location two weeks ago with the prototype mod....it's still in there and working just fine.

He said he didn't sell that many of them. I basically got the equivalent of a free small mod for my Metallica for the idea and the right to sell it, which if I remember right at the time, meant that he sold MAYBE 10-15 units? I'm just honestly bitter about how the whole thing turned out, especially seeing it 5-6 years later and that thing is still holding up. You'll note in the original post where he announced it he'd do it for Spider-Man at some point as well...no clue if that was done or not but if it was, I sure as heck never saw a single cent from it.

I wish someone would pick it back up and sell it, because it'll work for ANY Stern game that has that 3-bank targets. It's just the 3d printed bank bracket, 2 strip of LEDs and the wire harness to connect it to the insert and flashers you want to trigger it via alligator clips, or a molex connector to a controller for more advanced effects. I had mine hooked up to a PIG2 to control the pulsing of the light instead of just having it blink with the insert, and do an effect when it raised up and lowered. It's stupid simple. I don't have a FDM 3d printer anymore, and I never got the one I DID have to print anything that I would call a full success. I'm not sure if my resin printer would make these sturdy enough to hold up to that kind of abuse...I doubt it.

*edit* Oy just reading that thread pisses me off....they kept sending people with questions my way and......I'm sorry, but if you're selling the mod and getting the benefit, the tech support responsibility is YOURS, not the person that you got the rights from... it wasn't that complicated. I certainly ended up answering more questions than I should have simply because I wanted the damn thing to succeed.

Not odd...the typical train wreck Hey, your ad is only @ -10...I just sold a TRON LE and my FS ad is @ -21 (despite having a perfect 100% positive feedback score after 17 sales). The only explanation behind the hate is jealousy, which kind of sucks since most of us don't like partying with our babies. ANYONE selling games here is doing other collectors a service. Most of us could sell to pinball retailers and have them jack up the price even more...a practice I usually avoid.

I’m done with all the overpriced Trons, but that stereo system in the background looks pretty sweet!

No idea. If it isn't obvious, my comment was "in general", not specific to TRON.

"Hardly played" is because much like the Tron arcade game it is more of a trophy than a good game.

More lunacy. TRON is an exceptional game...one of Stern's best IMHO. We all like different games (no doubt), but labeling TRON as a trophy is BS.

This market is starting to considering ANY LE/CE a trophy (which makes no sense to me, but that's what the market is currently). Last September, I listed my SWLE for 8-9k IIRC. No action, so I sold it to a local retailer for 7.5k. Today, that game would sell in a heartbeat for ~15k I believe. No one could have predicted the "COVID spike" we are all seeing.

Just saying for the many who have one without almost any plays on it... thats exactly what it is. A trophy.

If it wasnt they would ya know...... play it?

Its a wowie look at me I have a Tron LE and Im afraid to play it so I dont ruin my "investment" thing.

TRON LE absolutely is a trophy game.

It sure ain't the additional features that justify the price over the modded standard version.

It's the enviable original rarity that people are paying for.

I see your point, but I've known many collectors over the years that don't play their games. For some, they are largely 3D art...not "trophies".

Again, LE's in general have become trophies in today's market. I've actually never purchased a NIB LE/CE...typically a Premium buyer. The LE's I've owned were purchased from collectors at very reasonable prices. In today's market, there is 0 chance I would ever pay crazy markup's for an LE/CE.

The thing you seem to be missing, however, is the differences between TRON LE and an stock Pro are much greater than today's Premium/LE differences (since Stern never produced a TRON Premium). Here is the list for your amusement.

    1 - Daft Punk Multiball
2 - Silver around PF inserts
3 - Drop targets instead of standups
    4 - Moving Recognizer
5 - Color changing lighted ramps
    6 - LED insert PCBs
7 - Alternating color flashers under the spinner
8 - Individually controlled recognizer inserts in front of the 3 target
    9 - Chrome trim
10 - Metal apron with clear blue windows w/ flashers
    11 - Metal PF rails
12 - Traditional lockdown bar and receiver
13 - LE numbered plaque on back box and signed certificate of authenticity
14 - Hologram sticker on translite

these are the same people that buy vintage sports cars and dont drive them.

I just take it out of the garage and slowly rub the fender... then I put it back in and put a tarp over it.

The thing you seem to be missing, however, is the differences between TRON LE and an stock Pro

Nope, I'm not missing the differences. That's exactly my point, they're relatively insignificant and are so not worth the price differential if actually playing this amazing game is a factor.

Daft Punk multiball and a plaque. Thems for bragging rights.

The LE is a trophy game and that's nothing to be ashamed of.

Aren’t all LEs pretty much trophy games? There’s a $10k difference between POTC LE vs POTC CE, GNR LE vs GNR CE and those are decades newer than Tron.

    Yes, absolutely.

There's little reason to pay the premium other than bragging rights (and hope that the value will skyrocket.)

It has nothing to do with amazingness of a superior game.

Thank you. Exactly my point. The ONLY thing special about TRON is it predates the Premium (which is literally the same game as an LE). Only artwork/trim differences.

A hologram sticker!??! Well then this game should most definitely be worth 20k!

Oh no...you again. Wasn't it enough to puke all over my TRONLE FS ad? Like 20-30 obnoxious posts IIRC? Saying how it wasn't worth what I was asking? Well, it sold for my full asking price!

You have an impressive collection, but apparently don't know much about the market when it comes to this title. Stop embarrassing yourself

    If there was a premium.

Dude, you bragged about having a Thai masseuse come to your house. That, seriously was embarrassing.
That’s fine if you want to do that but don’t make it public. It makes you sound like a narcissistic tool. Which I’m sure your not.

Wait a second……there’s 5 LE’s in the Market and nothing is selling.
Give me a break. You posted your ad on the public Forum. Stop your whining.

As for the value of an LE, 5 LE’s in the Market. Nothing selling. Hmmmm….that’s weird.
Maybe they all sell for that price or maybe you found the ONE person that had to have it.

Either way, what kind of person brags about having a Thai masseuse??? Lmao.
    THAT’S EMBARRASSING.

    I

Btw, while we're on the subject of Tron, someone is looking to do mirrored decals for it, a small run anyway. See link, pm ulmpharmd if interested.

You are obviously in the market for an LE and can't help yourself from being sub-human. It's ok, mine is leaving today.

You seem to be the only one offended by my Thai masseuse. You're the one embarrassing yourself, dude!

Why is everybody obsessed with the absence of color DMDs in these ads?

If you buy a Tron for $20,000 you can probably
Afford another $400 for a color screen if you want one. Doesn’t sound like a deal breaker.

Or, like worst case, use your shrewd negotiating skills to point out the absence of the color dmd and try to get the game for $19,600.

Sometimes I suspect the dmd color
    Patrol isn’t actually
Interested in buying the game at all!!
