OP is a great guy in the pinball community.

There is nothing wrong with trying to get the most for a machine in your collection based on a recent sale. Whether or not it actually happens is a different story.

I am just curious who came up with the 25K number from the original transaction? Maybe this was some sort of charity agreement. We do not know the circumstances. We all know that any pinball machine in this price range is not intended for the hobby collectors market. If so, we would all have 1 machine in our collections. The market data does not support such a high number for Tron LE or really anything besides these JJ machines (until this seemingly outlier). The pinball hobby has become crazy and people are putting values on machines we have never seen. Anyway, good luck to every seller and buyer. Probably best to cash out now lol.

Oh okay, EBAY =)

Makes sense!

If a vault is even produced (which is subject to debate), would Stern be allowed to use any of the additional features from the LE (i.e. moving recognizer)?

#153 2 years ago

Before this "ONE" sale, Tron was a 10K to 15K game and still will be that price for the time being. No pinball enthusiast on pinside is going to pay over that. Ebay is a different story. As far as this ad, it was just to try to capitalize on the sale. A "why not" scenario. Nothing wrong with that. I am sure a Tron LE owner would accept 15K.

Quoted from Damonator:

I’m pretty sure you are wrong, but we’ll see. Once a new high is set in the market, it often becomes the new normal going forward.
At one time, there was just “ONE” sale of POtC LE above 10K, but look where we are now.
I’ve felt for a LONG time that TronLE was undervalued in the market as it’s been the same price for the last 5+ years. The *ONLY* factor that was keeping the price down was the remake threat. But now that Stern has a backlog of 5000 games and sells 1000s of every new release, it’s looking super slim that a remake will ever happen. So the price finally adjusts to the reality, rarity and demand.

So are you saying the Addams Family Golds are now going for 20K?

#164 2 years ago

I guess there is a positive...if you have 3-4 pins to trade for a 25K Tron, one would clear up some space in the house
I am hoping to set a record soon on a MOP LE!
Let's just play some pinball!!

See, now we are getting somewhere =)
I am going to try to make the Boba Lemonade. I actually have Boba. This post is beneficial to all of us. Cheers!!

The 25K one that was sold had blue armor and a chrome door. Why would you mess with an LE. I think the original chrome armor is sweet!
My opinion of course

All it means is that when you sell a machine today, the new machine you decide to buy will be inflated as well. Just like with real estate right now. Collectors might be holding on to their pinballs now since getting them back will be costly.

Although at 25K, that is an easy sell lol

#193 2 years ago

Nope.

Jersey Jacked Up Pinball Prices!! Pretty nice phrase I think.

People seem to love it. What is so amazing about the game besides the limited edition and looks of it. I have never had the opportunity to play Tron. The newer sterns like EHOH and Avengers LE play really smooth and nice. I guess once it gets vaulted (or if), what is going to make people buy enough that it is worth it?

Sega Saturn games are going for a lot now?

No-one answered my questions

Cool, I really appreciate it and the time you took to explain. Now I just need to find one to play lol
So you think if they vault the machine, many people will end up buying one without LE features?

#322 2 years ago

The OP is not expecting to get 25K, it was more of a "wow", one sold on ebay for a ridiculous amount, I am going to put it out there. Everyone knows that noone on Pinside is going to pay that. Also, glad to see that LOTR is getting up there in price. Now a listing for 9K. LOTR is the best stern imo. I have not played Tron though lol

How fast do you think a Tron LE listed at 15K would sell?

#328 2 years ago

I think it would sit until lowered or private sale (amount not disclosed). All interested parties in a Tron LE are probably on this thread and only public offers of 11,400 and 12,500. It is interesting cause where was everyone a few months ago when these were selling at an average of 12K. Some of the reactions at that time was too much. Money talks, I am sure a seller would happily take 15K (unless it is truly bolted down, and on the 2nd floor lol)

For 3K more you can get yourself an overpriced JJ GNR CE, a machine that will definitely not be reproduced (or will they)!!
Do resellers (flippers) on a new machine void the warranty for the buyer?

Why do some Trons only have one coin slot? Were some meant to go overseas and then stayed in the US?
