Game - for sale

For sale: Theatre of Magic Many Mods Price Drop!

Added: 2020-02-19 23:00:00 UTC • Re-listed: 1 time (May 18th, 2020) • Ended: July 18th, 2020
Condition: HUO - Undocumented (Home Used Only)

Price

$ 6,499

Machine is in super shape. Several mods - Brass plating, LEDs, Tiger Saw, Clock, chase lights, maybe a couple things I have missed.

Not sure who the previous owner was, but he had J-pop autograph the translite and the apron card. Oddly, he had a photo of himself and J-Pop at the autograph session, perhaps to authenticate the autograph? When he sold the pin to the guy (who I bought it from) he blacked out his face in the photo. This was all a long time ago, prior to any bad feelings about J-Pop.

I have owned this machine for about 10-11 years or so. Was sold to me as restored and HUO, but who knows, it is nice though. If you know anything about its history regarding the photo, please chime in.

Anybody know anything about this machine? A previous owner had JPop autograph the translight and an apron card. And he had the occasion photographed. Then he blew up the photo to 8x10, had his own face blacked out, and included the photo with the sale of the game. This all happened over 10-11 years ago since I have owned the machine for that long.

See photo #7.

Just saw this. I must confess. I am the guy. I can add to the story. Yes, this was pre jpop defrauding fiasco (maybe 2011?) though it was during early zidware. I live in northern Virginia and made a whirlwind 24hour (Friday night to Saturday night) trip to buy a circus Voltaire from pinsider in greater Chicago. Before leaving I emailed jpop about meeting to see his zidware facilities and possibly get an autograph. He wasn’t willing to meet at his shop but was gracious enough to meet at a local to him Starbucks. I grabbed the tom translight and apron and after picking up CV met JPOP at Starbucks. He signed the Tom translight and apron and then climbed into the back of my vehicle and signed the apron of CV. This was all done right in the parking lot. My girlfriend snapped the picture for posterity. Jpop was kind and gracious and shared a lot of backstory on both game's. All said, we chatted for over an hour and then I was back on my way home. He was pushing hard for me to get in on a zombie land game but luckily, my spidey senses went off.

When I sold the game, the gentleman that bought it wanted proof of the signatures so I sent the one of jpop and myself in the parking lot by email as proof. The buyer must have printed it out and blacked out my face.

To provide further provenance, I bought the game (stock, no mods) for $3,500 in 2010 from a lady whose husband passed away the year before. I thought I over paid then, lol. Supposedly he bought it new in box but who knows the validity of that. Right before I sold it, the game started resetting so I assume the guy who purchased it from me fixed/replaced the driver board.

Funny to see a game I sold 8 years ago surface this way. I must confess, I’m tempted to buy it back. I’ll try to post an unblurred version of the photo in question. Thanks for posting. This made my day.

***I found some found a few of the games in my lineup, I’ll keep looking for the parking lot photo.

Holy cow - that is an awesome story - thank you for sharing it! I love this pin and wish I could it, but we are downsizing. Gonna keep about 3.

The HUO story rings true to me (says the guy trying to sell it, lol) because of how nice it looks all over, but also how the back of the cabinet looks. I never take a photo of the back, but this one looks so good, I thought maybe someone did a high end restore on it. The HUO story makes more sense.

I made a Coronavirus socially distanced sale today. Sold WCS and the buyer never saw anything but photos. He paid me with PayPal and I wrapped it up like he wanted and left it in the driveway. He came by and took it home! Strange times.

Congrats on the sale! I saw your ad come up awhile back. I thought, “nice pics, great looking pin for the money”. WCS isn’t on my list list but I seriously gave it a thought! My collection is in Olive Branch, Mississippi; not too far from your place. The Memphis area is a pinball desert, so most of my collection was bought sight unseen. Lots of photos, sellers with integrity and some luck contribute to my success.

Back on the market after a break in the action. I will only sell this in a socially distanced fashion unfortunately. I can take additional pics or whatever you need to feel comfortable with the purchase. Willing to wrap it up however you want it and have it ready to go in my garage, no steps. Shipping no problem as long as you arrange. Thanks for looking!

Abracadabra Bump!

#15 3 years ago

That is a really great story Skins I always wonder where games I’ve sold end up and if I would even recognize them if they went back on the market.

#16 3 years ago

I recently bought back a game I had sold almost 6 years earlier. Guy had put 200 games on it and offered to sell back to me at same price. Was strange having it back after all that time. Great story Skins thanks for the addition info. Love a good back story. GLWS RTR I’d buy it but Australian dollar is not great at the moment. Dare I say “if only I was closer!!!”

Part of the price has magically disappeared!

Price is now just under average selling price (per pinside stats) and this machine is above average! I know, because I measured.
