Game - for sale

For sale: The Hobbit LE #969

Added: 2017-09-22 18:07:37 UTC • Ended: September 30th, 2017
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Price

$ 5,700 (Firm)

Price is firm

Early run Hobbit LE. Bought new and was routed by myself at Jackbar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, ever since. definitely got a fair amount of play, but maintained well and kept in good condition, with some minor flaws. but i think the price reflects this.

the good:
-plays great. all major mech's work.
-clean. can maybe use a mild shop, but really not even.
-nice playfield. all plastics intact.

the bad:
-missing right slingshot kicker (the rivets tend to break on them, but easy fix once getting the part)
-some flipper wear around left flipper button, but otherwise very nice cab.
-top lid on circuitry case has a scrape through the sticker and some scrapes on the metal, due to playfield once coming off it's track. absolutely no damage to underside of pf or anything on it, or cabinet. but full disclosure.

that's all i can think of, but it's not impossible there might be something minor i'm missing (i.e. switch out), or maybe i'm not. buyer should be aware that i'm only mentioning the cons i'm aware of. but, for the price, these are minor risks you should be willing to take.

game is all wrapped up and ready to go at:
JACKBAR
143 Havemeyer St.
Brooklyn, NY 11211

Price is firm. Game is wrapped and ready for local pickup. Will ship at arrangement and expense of buyer.

thanks for looking!

Amazing deal. Routed JJP shooter lanes still look excellent even after a ton of use.

#3 6 years ago

i should've mentioned, not looking for any trades at this time. thanks.

Good seller. Good deal. Good bar.

thanks levi! changed ad to reflect willingness to ship.

#9 6 years ago

Man I wish I had a location near me with hobbit and dialed in to play, glwys!

#10 6 years ago

Awesome deal....someone should snatch this up. Hobbit is our most played game here at home.

#11 6 years ago

It's been very interesting watching the market dictate the price on this machine.

Surprising to be honest. I wonder if it goes back up in price years down the road.

#13 6 years ago

Its always a little challenging to sell a game thats been routed, and is a little beat up. I wonder how many game plays? Cliffy protectors and flipper guards would have really help preserve the value of this game. The Hobbit is a great game by the way....

ummmm.... pretty sure it is priced accordingly... Great price for the condition.

not disagreeing with you at all....its an incredible game...especially if you give it time, and understand the rule set....its pretty deep.

#16 6 years ago

to call this game "a little beat up" is an extreme exaggeration, in my opinion. it just has some very minor bumps and bruises that most people wouldn't even notice without them being pointed out, and i don't want it to be represented as anything else. i think the buyer will be very happy.

#17 6 years ago

price drop. $5700. grab it up while it's hot!

#18 6 years ago

This game has been in one location it's entire life and hasn't been moved two feet since being removed from the box. "A little beat up" is pinside speak for "not NIB."

#19 6 years ago

Steal at this price......

#20 6 years ago

Someone please buy this before I go down the path of trying to figure out what shipping would cost for me to the West Coast.

It would cost you about $400.

You're welcome.

#22 6 years ago

I think this just is part of the movement that a lot of buyers are only looking for perfect HUO or NIB or high end restored games anymore and I think that is what PtownPin was hinting at. A lot of new collectors use their games for #@@# measuring contests instead of just playing them.

This is a great price on what looks to be a well maintained game and hopefully another operator will grab it and put it right back on location somewhere.

I don't think this is true. yes, there is the "shooter lane" subset and they are quite loud, but the vast majority of home pinball owners don't even own a HUO pinball machine. The vast majority of machines in collections are not HUO.

It's the silent majority!

Sure this game could end up on route, but it is much more likely it will end up in someone's home.

You are correct. My point was more that a lot of the newer buyers do not seem to feel this way. Many act literally offended at the thought of a routed game unless it has been restored.

#25 6 years ago

Hey, that was my machine. Sort of. I originally ordered it and chose the #969. After waiting 2.5 years I sold it without taking possession. Glad to see it out there and best of luck with sale. Correction - I misread the thread - I had WoZ #969. Still, glws!

#26 6 years ago

The problem here is that there have been so many gorgeous HUO Hobbits sell at really low prices, not sure people want to deal with a game that's been routed. And these were smaug editions so he has very very tough competition.

Maybe.

My neighbor recently bought his HUO Smaug for $6,250. This is still $550 less which is a nice discount in my book.

#28 6 years ago

This game is in better shape than some games that are HUO...

I'm assuming the game is Jersey Jack's weakest, because they are being sold EVERYWHERE.

#30 6 years ago

Great game and a better price. Holy shit. Someone buy this. Damn. GLWTS.

Its most definitely not....I have all three....

#33 6 years ago

I will probably sell my hobbit one day, but not for under 6500. That's too low. I'll just keep it. Still think it is great, and Keith has another code update or two coming.

#34 6 years ago

Never seen a decal wear off like that on a modern machine.

i'd say it's more scratched, than worn. these players don't like to take the extra few seconds to clip their fingernails.

#37 6 years ago

Like I tried to say earlier....$50 worth of cliffy's and some $20 flipper guards would have save him a lot of money in the end. Most collectors care about condition. Even if has nothing to do with actual game play...IMHO its the only reason this great game hasn't sold yet....

-cliffy's didn't exist yet when i bought the game.
-flipper mylar gets worn through on routed games within a few months.
-you didn't TRY to say it before.. you DID say it before. we get it.

and besides, if you're paying $20 for flipper button protectors, you're not saving sh!t.

#39 6 years ago

Buyer could add cliffys, add radcals, repair sling, replace rubbers and clean and wax and it will probably be in tip top shape

#40 6 years ago

Oh that's it lol

#41 6 years ago

hey guys- game is tentatively sold - pending pickup. thank you to all who inquired!

#42 6 years ago

The buyer will be getting a game that will keep him busy for a long time, at a great price!

#43 6 years ago

Good deals usually don't last long around here.

#44 6 years ago

Im thinking about a hobbit becouse of the theme, but these pricedumps makes me rethink about buying one, such a new pin, dropping so fast in value and out for sale this often, is not a good sighn.
Youtube videoes shows a beutifull machine, but offcourse i havent tryed it yet. Something must be missing here.

I have played all three and I prefer hobbit. But the other two are great as well. Not sure why, but I seem to be in the minority. Like usual play before you buy anything

In my opinion its WOZ, but thats just me....I like the theme of TH better, but both are great games. TH takes time to understand the deep rule set...

#49 6 years ago
Quoted from Doctor6:

I bought my Smaug NIB (and also have a WOZLE) and while at first I loved Hobbit as much as WOZLE (which I think its an amazing pin) it just got old very fast IMO. I got to the point that I was getting all 3 multi balls and gone through all the modes and just felt it wasn't fun anymore. No doubt, one of the most beautiful games ever made. But after a while, for me at least, nothing but 4 pop ups and multi ball madness got old. There just isn't a lot of satisfying shots IMO. I think most Hobbit owners will LOVE the pin for a while, but if you are a reasonably good player, it just won't have staying power (and that's not that unusual, I felt the same thing with TOM, and I know others have said the same about MB, both great A list pins) But that is what makes this hobby great, some will say its better than WOZ and unmovable in their collection. I traded mine for a STLE and I think its the best trade I've ever made. Congrats to seller and the new owner!

Thank you thank you whoever snatched this up! Watching this great deal linger right here on the island was killing me! Congrats Jon
