As it goes on life support, at some point DP's got an "asset" that can be sold. The copyrights, the licenses, the blueprints, the knowledge of how to make a TBL has value and therefore can be sold. There is already a known, and tested market for this pin. It's not a dud. This is already well ahead of most other untested "work-in-process" titles being talked about. If not next month, one day, some day this is going to see the light of day coming out of someone's factory, no?

Well you not only get all of this wonderful stuff, you get all of their outstanding liabilities as well. They owe a ton of people a ton of money.

And who knows about the licensing, maybe not valid if there is a transfer or ownership, or expired. Who's got all the tooling, the factory that's supposedly sitting on 50 finished games? There's tons of potentially expensive or deal-breaking unknowns, it's not just "hey let's finish up a pin!" would be my guess.

Enjoying the thread, just confirming the rug will be sold “as is”, no laundering?

I feel like were all stock brokers working for Axe Capitol on that sweet show Billions! lol

One BIG thing to consider about this game and its future. So now DP can't produce any more because of ARA having the contract. Who's going to win that lawsuit man ARA or DP the logical question you have to ask yourself is who's got more to loose and who's got more to spend. And ARA has the capitol to feed the lawyers and win the suit effectively bankrupting DP IMO! There so done right now, selling the few parts they have in their inventory on their website now to feed the lawsuit most likely. The only wild card here is that essentially the Chinese have the blueprints now and could replicate the shit out of this pin if DP goes under like they've done with pretty much anything valuable like Rolex watches or even Land Rovers! lol The Big Lebronski $2,999 DHL shipped off some seedy website! Someone else made that pic great minds. lol

The real question is how many animated GIFs can TheHueManatee create for this thread to provide it with 'Baywatch-like' legs?

So you’re saying that if people don’t own the high end pins, they should just get the hell out of the way since it’s out of their “comfort zone”. Such a flawed comment. You seem to feel free to interject your commentary on various subjects, and those comments are good for the group to see. At the same time, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone post and basically tell people to step back and discontinue giving their opinion. What up?

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

What is a "Flawed Comment"? Oh I know! Point of View... We have a lot of those here... I think he is saying that if you don't have any skin in the game then.... It's not a gut punch man.

Quoted from Mr68:

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Don't think #Mr68 made nor intended any personal statement/attack other than to point out that this thread was not soliciting an opinion or view only a sale? I never understand with all the Club and review threads why For Sale threads always draw so many review criticism opinions regarding the item for sale? The seller, sure. If you have found the seller honest or you have seen the game in person and wish to share a thumbs up that it is the real deal opinions are a value added contribution. To say you hate the game or price in a For Sale thread just doesn't seem necessary unless you have a personal beef with the seller. My only beef with Greg is I missed out on buying some of his beautiful machines he sold in the past...

Well said... there are many topics that are not relevant to the sale of the game in these FS threads. Potential buyers will just overlook the peanut gallery comments. However, those comments can make for interesting conversation amoungst those that have no interest in purchase. Especially on such a hot item as TBL, and the sad circumstance that goes with it.

#162 5 years ago

If OP can get 21k for this game good for them. Yay capitalism. If you bought a house at the bottom in 2011 would you not accept its current re-inflated value now?

I'm certain the actual cost of TBL came in much higher than ARA or DP thought. Remember making 3 prototypes vs a run of anything is a a difference as wide as the universe. DP probably tried to hold ARA to an unsustainable earlier quote (because DP couldn't afford the increase) and ARA said "screw it".

Also there's no way the license hasn't expired by now.

I sent Greg a pm apologizing to him yesterday. Greg is a great guy. I got a little crazy the other day! My dissatisfaction/anger with DP was misdirected. And i was being a total A hole.

Shouldn't have happened and i apologize to him and the whole group here. I 1000% believe people should be able to get whatever they can for any pinball machine as somebody said its "not just a hobby anymore".

So GLWS and carry on!

Well, and this is what's really behind some of these reactions. This isn't only just a happy sale, and a smart market play and good luck with your windfall. While it's not really the seller's problem, alot of people were left holding the bag. How easy can this be to watch unemotionally?

It takes a big man to admit he’s wrong and somehow not shoehorn MASSIVE TAX CUT into the post. Bravo!

I don’t like seeing high end pin guys fight, it makes the kids upset.

The OP is selling in the high-end collector’s market which most people are not involved and therefore they do not understand it.

Exactly, because when you're just buying new toys from distributors at MSRP what's the difference from buying a hot tub, an SUV, or a pool table? These aren't hobbies either. I don't even know if there are Forums for those!
And I have to add, you are NO more likely to make a profit (despite someone earlier saying we all have to accept that making a profit is a big part of the hobby (?!)) then when you sell your pool table, SUV or hot tub... unless you've got the last one made and it was used and signed by Elvis.

Been nine days now. That's the challenge with the high-end market (for anything...houses, cars, coins, pinball machines). It's not very liquid. While the supply is small, so too is the demand (at $21k). It would be interesting to see what the current 'bid' price is. In other words, if the OP had to sell this today, what would he be able to get? I'm thinking somewhere between $15k and $20k?

I apologize if my message came off as snooty in any way. I'm not a gifted writer and I am prone to making mistakes.
Again, my sincere apology but none of that was intended.

Haha, no because it wont look good next to Oz and Alien...

Seriously though, if this is still around (which I doubt) by November, I will offer 20k and buy myself an early Christmas present if you can manage to live without the extra 1k.

I appreciate all you guys on the thumbs up and did feel really really terrible about it, especially because of Greg. I was sick to my stomach about it, partly because of the Corona which tore me up but....

We are all brothers in a hobby we love and i'm just glad we can still hug it out and move on.

For all my prior moderation sins it appears my penance is that Jpop is moving to my hometown here in San Antonio

It's all good. I've been there and have done the same thing. My pet peeve is very closely related. I personally can't stand when guys buy NIB machines and then turn around and flip them for profit without playing one flipping game on that machine!! To me, this is the true definition of a flipper and bad for the hobby. But again, it's a free market. I just grit my teeth now and say nothing now.

#188 5 years ago

Just wanted to add my two cents: I’ve personally played this machine and it’s even more fantastic in person. I’m jealous of whoever buys it. GLWS

Quoted from Oldgoat:

Ive dealt in collectibles my entire life and I can tell you that statement is not true.
Generally the two most liquid parts of most collectibles markets are the the very high end and the low end (entry level).
The hardest things to sell are generally middle of the road items, stuff relatively uninteresting and readily available.
Then again, everything comes down to a factor of pricing (almost anything will sell quickly at a certain price).

#194 5 years ago

Pinball is Art. Ive dealt in High End Art for 25 years. Many of my regrets were selling pieces to cheap. But, you have to move inventory. If priced to High it sits for years. It often comes down to popularity. However, it all sells eventually.
I have art that is worth more than pins. I stare at a piece sometimes and even I cant believe its worth more than a NIB pinball machine.
BL is a rare piece of Art. Limited run on this is similar to a rare Dali, Goya or Vollard etching or woodcut.
This will sell at sellers asking price and buyer will get a rare piece of Art.
Congrats to both when it happens.

if pinball is art, then TBL is an example of surrealism.

#198 5 years ago

Looks like there was only one buyer at 20k and the other guy snagged him.

#199 5 years ago

If I wanted this pin GONE, I'd have priced it at $15,000. But I don't. I love it, I play it, and I'm not in any rush to sell it. Nor is anyone else who owns one, apparently. Because one priced at $20,500, $20,000, or $15,000 hasn't popped up. THAT's evidence of market value, people.
