Wha...what would posses them to something like that? I can't fathom the leap in logic for doing that. Especially for something that was basically sold as far as they were concerned. 
Was it something like, "We sold it, now let's give it a whack to tenderize it for the buyer"

Seeing the photos, I'm honestly not sure about this one. If the playfield was intact, it would probably be worthwhile, but you're going to need a swap or new one, some body cab work, and rebuild or replace the backbox. It would be a serious project. Since it was submerged, I'd be concerned about the transformer as well.
But, hopefully someone can make it live again
