Game - for sale

For sale: Tales of the Arabian Nights (Williams, 1996)

Added: 2016-01-19 01:20:04 UTC • Ended: March 15th, 2016
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Price

$ 6,800

This is a very nice Tales of the Arabian Nights that I have owned about 6 years. The game is in very good working condition with no known issues. Good cosmetics with minor wear at the orb saucer and some insert ghosting. The left side of the cabinet has some fading of the red, while the right looks great.

Includes
Mike Chestnut brass plated sword, habitrail, switch cover
Repainted and redecaled apron
Flipper Fidelity speakers and subwoofer
LED OCD
GI OCD
Titan Competition Rubber throughout
Plastic protectors

I will remove the LED OCD and/or GI OCD for a drop in price of $100 each.

I also have a CPR gold playfield that I would include for an additional $850.

#9 8 years ago

Let's say $350 off if I remove the ColorDMD, $100 off for each of the OCD boards.

That puts it at $6950 without that stuff. ...or make me an offer.

#10 8 years ago

I'd make you an offer but you'd refuse it.

If only the game was properly named my wife may have let me get this one:

#13 8 years ago

Correct me if I say something wrong.

DCFAN's wife is Iranian, and they were in my gameroom during a party. I was lectured due to the inappropriate name of TOTAN because it is not actually Arabian stories, it is Persian. I tried to explain that it's still a fun game, but that didn't convince her to play it.

#14 8 years ago

Really wish I was closer - GLWS!

#15 8 years ago

Wow, great seller. He never parts with games and takes great care of them. This will be a score for someone.

A couple of questions I've been asked:

Are there any cracked or broken plastics?

No, I replaced all of them when I first got the game.

What about the ramps?

There is a crack in the big swirl ramp next to one of the standoffs. You can see it in one of the pictures above. Other than that, they are very good.

#20 8 years ago

That's a nice looking TOTAN, too bad I don't live closer but still tempting...

#21 8 years ago

Price drop to $7300

$6750 without the ColorDMD or OCD boards

If you want the ColorDMD, you had better move fast. I'm picking up a game this evening, and will move the ColorDMD to it if it's not already spoken for.

Yes, Persians are not Arabs and are highly insulted by being misidentified as such.

It's a running joke with Mudflaps. Any time I mention needing to sell something, he suggest Card Whiz. I would say Card Whiz x 2 > Royal Flush, though. I wouldn't mind taking a couple of whizzes.

Don't ignore my pm's. My offer still stands:

I'll trade your Card Whiz for a broken GOT topper, $13 in Persian drakmahs, and a fully working DE King Kong with my initials carved in the side.

Bump for one of my top 5 pins ever!

Good luck with the sale Herg!

Someone please buy this and remove the temptation. It will cost me $7300 + $450 shipping + half my income for life for the divorce.
Think of my marriage. Buy it, so I can't.

lol same here.

Wow. Looks like a beautiful game. Someone will be happy!

Quoted from herg:

I agree with you, yet in the case of Persians, they had a beautiful country and generally wonderful life before the overthrow by theocratism, not that it justifies their indignation. But at least we can understand it better.

A movie that touches this topic very well is "The House of Sand and Fog."

Just thinking out loud.

Would someone buy this already...Killing me to look at it daily!

Cool video! I haven't watched many streaming sessions. This one is a good chance to see gameplay as well as the GI OCD in action. I don't think Neil has a LED OCD in his game, though.

I hope watching the video doesn't cause seller's remorse.

#41 8 years ago
Quoted from jints56:

2 over my limit

Quoted from herg:

I'm rapidly approaching this as well.

...and, I'm there.

I picked up a really nice Iron Man and MrWizzo's last night, and DCFAN helped me lug it up one flight of stairs, then down another. Thanks, guys. DCFAN can attest to the fact that I'm definitely over my limit now.

I've had a few guys ask about shipping, including one for the original 7500, and I've turned them down so far.

My concerns are:
1. I don't want to get ripped off. Vid's guide has me leary of nearly every form of remote payment. Granted, I accept PayPal every day for OCD kits, but those are a much smaller amount. I would be willing to use an escrow, which would protect both parties, but that does cost extra. It's nothing personal against any potential buyers, but better safe than sorry.

2. I've never packed a game for shipping, and I would want to do it right. Doing it right, however, sounds like a lot of work. I don't have a pallette, so I'd likely have to find one. I guess some people ship on legs, but I've never received a game that was shipped on legs. It sounds scary to me.

#42 8 years ago

Herg, I've shipped and received many games through STI (kind of mandatory based on where I live).

If you decide to go that route, let me know.

#43 8 years ago
Quoted from Mudflaps:

If you decide to go that route, let me know.

Will do. Thanks.

#44 8 years ago

Do we have a buyer? Herg just go buy about 5 blanket's, 3 straps and stretch wrap at Home Depot. Grab a pallet put cardboard on the pallet. Before moving the legs wrap the game with a blanket, then fold the head down and wrap the rest. The use stretch wrap around the machine. Remove the legs, Flip it on it's back and onto the pallet and use the 3 straps. Use cardboard under the straps (where you strap it down at) and at the corners.
You'll be around $130.00 in a Home Depot visit but it worth it. I always wrap the legs, keys and stuff beside the machine. I have never had a problem. Knock on wood.

#45 8 years ago

I pinged Don @ Pinballs on the Move to see if he'd be coming down through your way and near mine anytime soon. Mostly as a hail Mary. GLWS Herg, your TOTAN looks fantastic - somebody's going to get a great pin!

Quoted from wdpvideo:

Do we have a buyer? Herg just go buy about 5 blanket's, 3 straps and stretch wrap at Home Depot. Grab a pallet put cardboard on the pallet. Before moving the legs wrap the game with a blanket, then fold the head down and wrap the rest. The use stretch wrap around the machine. Remove the legs, Flip it on it's back and onto the pallet and use the 3 straps. Use cardboard under the straps (where you reanch it down at) and at the corners.
You'll be around $130.00 in a Home Depot visit but it worth it. I always wrap the legs, keys and stuff beside the machine. I have never had a problem. Knock on wood.

+1

I Didn't get video of it going on a pallet from here but I recently had to so this w/ my Tron. Originally, I packed it this way for a legs-on move.

The shipping company convinced the buyer that a legs on move might have a little more risk. From that starting point (legs on but wrapped) it wasn't much more effort (for me, anyway) to put it on a pallet and wrap the legs and hardware in a box, ratchet straps and stuff. Wasn't too bad but I know everyone's bandwidth for manipulating a pin in their space is a little different.

It's always preferred when you can just get a buyer to pop in with a buddy, hand you a wad of cash and carry it out. In our area, few options for great pins so about everything gets shipped in or out.

At this price and condition, I'm surprised someone hasn't snagged this up yet. Bet it goes soon.. *sniffle

I have had games shipped with the leg on. I have only had 1 that came with a twisted leg.
Worry about it because if it snaps off, it would do major wood damage. However, it's doable
allot depend on the shipping company because anything can happen. Heck, I have had issues
even when I picked them up and I wrapped them myself. It happens.

You guys are making me feel like a wuss. I'll look into shipping and payment options this weekend, but for now I need to try to get some work done before the snow hits.

If they ship on a pallet, they can get forked by a fork truck. Legs on is human contact only.

Herg, I have a pallet if you end up needing it.
