Item description

Hi, I'm selling a Stern Split Second. It is a Very low production game, this one is serial #316. Hard to find. Cabinet and Playfield look great, backglass has wear but it is presentable. All solder joints on boards and displays were reflowed. Connectors are prefect. Remote battery holder on mpu. New leg levelers
$1600

I can pack pallet and ship + I get a real good rate. The more games you buy from me the more you save on shipping.
Thx

A rare bird indeed. Nice price for someone looking for the title. Good luck with the sale.

Used to play the heck out the Split Second at the old Gameland in Lake Geneva. Got to play another one a few years ago at Clay's old location in MI when I picked up my A13 from him.

I see this is already sale pending, I had a feeling that would be the case when I woke up today. Congrats OP.

Thx again

I wish someone would do a software mod to add background sound to this game, like calliope music. It drove me nuts that it had sound effects and speech, but no background sound.

#9 2 years ago

The idea of adding background sound would be really cool - wonder why they didn't have any - Cost cutting or was the game just rushed?

I don't think any of the classic stern games had background music. It wasn't really a feature back then.

Sure they had background sound. Meteor and Galaxy for sure and I think Flight 2000 too.

I am sure this could be achieved pretty easily with a couple of switches and a simple MP3 trigger if you wanted to.

I know big game, Galaxy, cheetah, and split second don't have background sound along with the solid state chime games like stars.
Sea witch has ocean sounds, Ali and meteor have background sounds along with quicksilver, star gazer, etc

Big game does have background sound. If you keep a ball alive for a while it will slowly morph over time.

Didn't know they are that rare. I've had one packed up in my shop for the last 2 years. Maybe time to get it up and going.

Cheetah and Galaxy have background sound - Last time I played mine they did.

Not to my knowledge, or mine and papa's doesn't.....I have big game to the left of split second

#19 2 years ago

Must be a dip switch setting. There's a background 'drum' of two tones that repeat. It'll morph to four tones if the ball lasts a while.

#20 2 years ago

Cheetah does something similar, like a tweet-tweet type thing. Speeds up as more goes on.

Big game definitely does. Drums. Like Larry said the longer the ball you have and more switches you hit the drum beat gets faster and faster and eventually starts over with a new beat. I've made it through to a third beat change. Pretty cool part of the programming.

Btw, split second looks really fun.
