I got this Sorcerer as part of a trade, and I had every intention of fully rebuilding it to learn more about pinball repair. Unfortunately, my life has become significantly more complicated since I picked it up in late February, and now I just don't have the time. We'll start with the pros:
--The cabinet is in decent shape structurally, but it definitely needs a paint job. To that end, I'm including a new Pinball Pimp stencil kit I ordered, along with airbrush paints.
--It has all the original boards, though they're untested.
--The playfield wiring looks decent and the top of the playfield is mostly populated (it's missing a few rollover dividers and it doesn't have the original pop bumper caps or flippers; I'm pretty sure that Steve Young at Pinball Resource has the dividers, although those pop caps are harder to find. Williams flipper bats are pretty cheap to replace).
--The backglass looks pretty good, although some moron sprayed black spraypaint on the bottom, presumably to cover some flaking paint. I'm guessing the bottom row of lights that show "game over," "high score," etc. aren't going to shine through. However, Planetary Pinball sells a really nice mirrored Sorcerer back glass for $240 (they also carry the plastics kit).
Now, on to the cons:
--The playfield looks terrible. Lacking a Hard Top option at the moment, this one is a good candidate for a playfield swap. Mirco and Classic Playfield Reproductions both sell Sorcerer playfields.
--It doesn't have any score displays.
--The cabinet needs to be repainted (again, I'm including the stencil kit and airbrush paints).
--The coin mechs are gone.
I'm looking to get $750 OBO -- the stencil kit is $150 by itself and the paint was about $100. Local pickup only, please. I'm also not interested in parting it out. I'm POSSIBLY interested in trades. The only project I'd consider taking on is a Bally Frontier; otherwise, I'd want something that doesn't need a ton of work. If you have something I'm interested in, I'd consider throwing a few hundred bucks into the trade. I'm mainly interested in solid state games from the late 1970s into the 1980s. Drop me a PM if you have any questions!
