This ad has been removed from the market place.

#2 8 years ago

Wow, since when did these become 1750? I sold one a year ago for $1100 and that was tough and mine was damn nice. I mean, at least ad some more pics.

#3 8 years ago

Thanks for the bump, buddy! Sorry to hear you got screwed on your "damn nice" Slugfest. Did it have the topper and card dispenser? Here are some more pics, as you requested.

#4 8 years ago

Sure did. Had an intact, not a broken topper or rusty legs either. Good luck.

#5 8 years ago

Dang. Probably could have fetched way more than $1,100. Were you in a hurry?

#6 8 years ago

Nope.

#7 8 years ago

So, you took your time getting screwed?

Sorry to hear that. The topper, dispenser and chute alone could probably get you around $400 due to how rare they are.

Oh well. Better luck next time.

#8 8 years ago

Dude if you were in AZ I would have bought this in a sec

Sorry! I'm sure one will pop up by you. Happy hunting!

#10 8 years ago

Can you snap a pic of the "considerable gouge" on the left side and the rusty legs perhaps?

#11 8 years ago

Wowzer's. It's a great game, but I let a HUO one go for 1600 bucks, since I figured I didn't need a perfect one, and at the time (LAST WINTER) they were going for 800-1000 in reasonable shape.

Looks like someone missed the boat.

#12 8 years ago

$1750 seems High in my opinion and I would need to see the severity of "the bad". Left side cabinet pick ...

That's right, you have been a member here for a year and you have two great games in your collection. yes, you clearly know values. I apologize.

Nope. See I paid $750 bucks for it. I didn't get screwed at all.

Good luck

#14 8 years ago

Here's a picture of the left side cabinet. It's a good size scratch, but it's fixable.

in defense of the OP, most I see in that range do not have a card dispenser/catcher or topper. I am not sure what is the value of those items, but games seem to have lost them throughout time. Are there replacement toppers or dispensers to be found?

Mine had both. I traded a DE Batman to get it a year and a half ago.

#17 8 years ago

Toppers and dispensers are tough to come by. Bay Area Amusements has the catcher for $70 plus shipping. A mint topper could probably fetch $175-200 and the dispenser around another $100-150. Depends on how desperate the buyer is to complete their game.

#18 8 years ago

I would say its a good starting point price. Toppers and full card dispenser/catcher are very hard to come by these days. if it was redecalled with new buttons and overlay, then its easily a $2000 fully restored game.

#19 8 years ago

PPS claimed to be making new toppers, but that was over a year ago and we all know how full of it Rick can be regarding everything being remade but nothing ever showing up.

I have swapped out the "Fast Ball" and "Curve Ball" buttons. The old ones worked fine, but the text was completely shot (Fast Ball is the most commonly used button during one player games). I also have new "Screw Ball" and "Change Up" buttons, just haven't installed them yet. All the other buttons are fine.

The game sells for 1-2k. Just depends on the time of year, who is buying it and how bad they want it. I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't sell for close to his asking price. Gotta love when people from all over the country attempt to tell sellers how much something is worth or how much they sold something for. What relevance does that have on someone else's game and in a location across the country? Chicago is a good market, demand is high here, somehow after we all pay our state income tax, sales tax and property tax, we have money to spend on toys like this. Our prices are generally higher than the average, so again let the guy sell his game, it's priced with in the market he is selling the game in and it has zero effect on you if your not looking to purchase one or are not in the area. Mind your own business and move along.

#22 8 years ago

As someone stated before, the price is a starting point. Think of it like going to buy a car (unless you go to a Carmax). You walk in, the dealer gives you the price, and you negotiate from there (at least, I would hope you do).

Also, if my price is too high for you, then move along or try to negotiate.

This is a discussion forum, sorry if you don't like the discussion. There are options available to avoid it.

No idea on the value of this pin, but if you are open to offers you may not want to have "Price is Firm" checked. When I see that on an ad I wouldn't consider it negotiable and wouldn't really think of making an offer on it.

Thanks for the heads up! I wrote at the end that the price is "pretty" firm, meaning there is definitely room to negotiate. Didn't realize the top had "Price is firm" written on it.

No pics of the button area? That overlay plastic is usually jacked up on these games.

I dont think it is actually a plastic?

Pretty sure it is just a regular vinyl overlay sticker think that is directly on the wood?

Yep, it's a sticker. I'll take some pictures of mine once I get home and upload them here.

#32 8 years ago

And if anyone is ever looking for a bleacher plastic, Darin makes one:

Brad

#33 8 years ago

If I end up holding onto mine, the bleacher plastic is the next piece to be replaced. Doesn't affect gameplay at all, I just want my game to be as nice as possible

#34 8 years ago

I love this game because of the nostalgia factor and the great representation of our country's beloved family past time. In my opinion, best Pitch and Bat made. Our Slugfest will never leave the game room collection. Market for this game, price wise, is all over the place. I have seen Puchase prices from $500-2000. Market region, availability, condition, buyer budget, all play heavily in the price.

#35 8 years ago

Control panel pictures. Haven't installed the other two pitch buttons, but Fast Ball and Curve Ball are brand new.

I just sold two in the past few months for $1000 and $1100. Both in decent condition, 100% working with working card dispensers. That seems to be what they go for around here.

Sounds like the price of these has gone up even more since then.

#38 8 years ago

I overpaid for one a couple of years ago because it was the only one in the area. I found an NOS topper a year ago and paid a pretty penny for it.

Slugfest has some future potential. It is not much fun as a one person game, but it is probably one of the best two player games you can have in a collection. It is the apex pitch and bat game with curve balls, steals, pinch hitters, etc. making it a pretty good strategy game. You can also customize it with your favorite major league teams (mine is Tigers vs. Yankees) and add your own cards in the back box.

You can check out my collection. For the past year, the two most popular games with my kids and their friends are Slugfest and Midway Sea Raider. Kids just flock to these two games and could care less about AC/DC, WOZ, HH, etc.

Is there a strategy to playing slugfest?

#40 8 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

Is there a strategy to playing SlugFest?

All depends on your settings. You can have the game give you extra innings based on when you hit the heckler (grand slam), how many innings you earn, etc. You can also set the difficulty so that more of the targets are "Outs".

Make sure your opponent is drunker than you are. And always steal bases.

Yup. And always go change up, fastball, fastball for an almost guaranteed strike out.

Oh yeah! Get them used to the slow stuff, then blast them with the high heat.

$100 price drop.

You should be marketing this on ebay and your area craigslist, if you are not already.

I have to assume that is your main market for something like this and especially at this time of year.
