I guess that means a nicely restored one with a Bally playfield true to the original is now $8000.

Fair enough to say but it will never look as nice as this one top to bottom inside and out. It plays Perfectly and you won't find a more honest seller. With the work that went into this game this is a fair price. Buyer will have a one of a kind example. GLWS.

My first reaction when I saw a Skateball for $5000 was "someone is out of their mind" but after looking at those pictures I don't see the price being out of line at all on that nice looking machine. Prices have really gotten crazy over the past couple years but something like this should be worth every bit of the asking price.

If you say so.
Funny how the colors on my Bally playfield are so off compared to the reproduction.

GLWS!

My thoughts exactly. This thing is GORGEOUS!!! GLWTS. You really put some love into this one and it shows. It’s a shame you have to sell it after the remarkable work you did. Hope the next owner appreciates it. Fantastic early Bally done up right!

This same machine's been sitting on e-bay for almost a year, but I think now the asking price is more.

I'm not knocking it though, I'm hoping he gets as much as he can.

gotta be honest... 5k is a great price.

The equation is pretty simple really... 5600+ for a new game with clearcoat issues, node board risks, unfinished code of unknown timing for finish (3+ years in some cases or left for dead), and no place to go but down in resale value...

OR
5k for a classic beauty that has none of those issues or risks, you know is built/restored to standards far above that of any NIB machine, and will likely be worth more if/when you sell.

I don't know if it will ever be worth more than 5k but it sure is a nice looking machine and I doubt your loss would be any greater than buying NIB machine when you sell it.

Outstanding! Someone is going to be real happy when they get their hands on this one! GLWTS

I don't know if it will ever be worth more than

yeah, I said the same thing when they were 800, then 1400, then 2000 for a core game...

Toss on all the work and you are already at this price point.

Reality is that a well done restoration adds easily 3k to a base game price in today numbers. Coming from someone that has done a few restorations, it adds up quickly.

Was this the same one that took the trophy at MGC?

#22 4 years ago
Quoted from HHaase:

Yes and he posted a picture of the trophy. Unless I’m wrong, (most times) I don’t think the seller was or claimed to be the high end restorer of this game. Simply the owner/seller. Regardless it’s beautiful in person. What he needs to do is sell me that god awful and boring Evel Knievel machine next to it! Lol

#23 4 years ago

I saw the trophy from Expo 2018, wasn't sure if this was the same machine I saw at MGC 2019.

The one I saw at MGC was absolutely gorgeous, among the prettiest early SS's I've ever seen.

My apology you are correct! Looked at the picture and assumed that was what he showed.
