Item description

I've listed the pinball machine as PARTIALLY Restored as I took a few deviations from OE like using starburst inserts, LEDs, etc, full details below:

If you did not follow the restore thread (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/polishing-up-a-silverball-mania),
here is the cliffs notes version:

Cab and back box art re-stenciled and clear coated matte finish
Backglass flaking painstakingly touched up, tripple thick coated and the touchup work clear coated
Playfield art reconstructed via Createx and water slide decals and clear coated multiple layers
Original inserts replaced with starburst style
Brand new light sockets throughout - every socket
All new solonoids
All playfield parts that could fit in tumbler have been tumbled, others polished
Most all switches replaced with new units
All mechs rebuilt with new springs, bushings etc Inc flipper mechs
Fresh Titan clear rubber throughout
Boards were gone through and caps replaced, reflowed, header plugs were repinned and currently the oe lamp board has Siegecraft daughter boards for LEDs, NVRAM has replaced the battery
Displays are LED style (OE are available as alternate)
New plastics
New pop and dead pop parts including covers
New coin door skin (No coin mechs included)
New PPS Apron
New Playfield glass

Original displays can be supplied in lieu of the LED versions, incandescent bulbs can be installed rather then current LEDs (to offer cost reduction)

Videos can be seen in my restoration thread or links can be sent to you if you would like.

The bad?
It was restored by an amateur
No coin mechs
Bb lock missing the cylinder
Starburst (non-original) inserts
Some minor woodwork cosmetics werent fully repaired, just touched up
One burned spot from previous ownership left untouched, only seen from under pf
I'm sure the community will find things in my images I forgot

I'm sure there are a few things I've left our but that should cover the blunt of it.

I can ship using your carrier of choice, you are responsible for all fees should you wish to ship. The unit will be palatalized and wrapped carefully before transit (no additional charge for palatalizing). I have pics available of how I prepare games for shipping should you wish to see them.

Please contact me for more details regarding anything you have read or seen, I have plenty of hi res images/videos I can share via Dropbox.

Thanks for your consideration!!

Great work on the restore. If I had more space I'd snatch this one up.

Sell something to make room.

Good idea. The higher the price, the more attention. I know this isn't the most popular early 80's Bally SS, but for the amount of work that was put into this, I think the asking price is more than fair IMO. If I were close, I'd be tempted, and this title isn't even on my radar. .

Is anybody in there...

Just nod if you can hear me

Great looking game

#19 5 years ago

Thursday lunchtime bump. I played this game about a month ago. The ball rolls so smooth on this playfield....especially down the outlane

#20 5 years ago

Thanks for the kind words Jim. And if you were to play it today you would notice it is different since I swapped out the flipper bats!
Here are a couple before / after images.

I really enjoyed your restore thread and this seems like a really fair price. You put a ton of work into it. Good luck with sale!

#22 5 years ago

Thanks Elicash, I had hoped I could have made it available to deliver to a buyer during TPF but just couldn't fit it in.

Oh well, Houston area pinheads are welcome to come tire kick, Captive_Ball did.
He clearly stated he wasn't a potential buyer though. It was great getting another pair of eyes on the machine.

#23 5 years ago

Bummer. I was hoping to play this at the show.

#24 5 years ago

TPF bump, even though I could not attend and bring this machine to TPF this year, anyone willing to drive down a few hours and provide evidence of your love of pinball with documentation of attending the festivities, I'll offer a nice discount should you decide you would like to purchase this restored SBM.
PM me!
Else, enjoy the weekend y'all.

Tuesday still available bump.

Hmmm, hopefully I sell it by then but if not, I will certainly consider it!

Maybe ineed to get creative and only ask 313 OBO...

It's gonna be a tough sale.

The game is nice, you did a good job. But it's a silverball for almost 3k. And it's only been "PARTIALLY" Restored. Hard to pull the trigger on that when you can find them all day for 1k or less. Demand just isn't real high for this title.

GLWS. It's just going to take a special buyer.

Yea good thing I'm not in a hurry. Houston has an arcade expo in October, it can get the attention of many during that, IF it doesn't sell sooner.

.

It's not a Fathom or a Star Gazer but I think A NICE SBM will always have demand. It's a game that looks awesome polished up & fresh paint/PF etc. Great Backglass, & a lot going on art wise on the PF & Cab. I don't ever see them within a 300 mile driving distance of me going for under $1000, unless it is a non working project. In fact I don't recall ever seeing a SBM advertised under $1000 in any working condition in the last year. Other parts of the Country, I suppose... Around here a beat players quality will bring $1200 & they go up from there.

All that being said, there definitely is a point of diminishing returns it seems when you make a machine almost too nice for 99% of players..... I just finished about identical resto on a SMB as the above machine. Paid $500 for a non working pile of parts, that was missing some stuff... put $1200 in new parts in it & around 150 man hours....& it's probably only worth $1800. But it would have probably been worth $1600 if I had only spent half as much time & $ on parts... point of diminishing returns based on the lack of rarity of the machine more so than a lack of desirability IMO

GLWS The right buyer is out there... just have to find them & hope they are within driving distance. If that machine was in Ohio or NJ it probably would have sold by now.

Great looking game man!

Monday re-list bump, new details added...

#44 4 years ago

Don't settle for a machine that's just Nearly Immaculate--you'll have to spend hours shopping it out and fixing flipper button wear and replacing on-board batteries. Atari_daze has a Nearly Immaculate Plus machine here, folks! All that stuff's already been done! Wanna guess how many games have been played on it in the past 12 years?

#45 4 years ago

Does that price include an action figure or a jar of dirt?

#46 4 years ago
Quoted from cosmokramer:

I regret that at this juncture, I'm not including any "premiums" such as those.

#47 4 years ago

If the flipper mechs are rebuilt and rubbers replaced you ruined the value....LMAO!!!

Quoted from Pickle:

Welp, guess I'll just scrap it!

#50 4 years ago

I've been told to ask for a shooter lane photo.....I'm not sure where that is on a pair of women's boots...but I've just gotta ask.
