$ 4,000 (Firm)

Nice Shadow overall. Reduced price a bit to $4,000. Playfield is nice, little wear in scoops. Almost none in Sanctum. I have a decal on it because I like it. But see photo I took before the decal. Very nice. Cabinet is average but the head could use new decals. Has some scraps and dings. New blades and target decals. Rear cityscape decal. I have the plastic brick art for that area too.

Plays perfect. Color DMD and Aurich alternate art package.

Contact me if you want more pics or with questions. Will prep for shipping if you arrange. Local is preferred.

Thanks for looking.

What .. not The Shadow?!?! Always selling the good stuff! Someone will be super happy! Buy with complete confidence in this seller!

#3 4 years ago

I just played this at his house on Saturday. Awesome pin! Someone will be getting a nice shadow. One of our favorites that we own and great code. We will never sell ours!

Pinkitten is a standup seller.
Insists on the best when buying.
Passes deals on when selling.
Generous, he is, and super knowledgeable.
Transact with him confidently.

Lucky ... did you see my Dark Knight there?? lol

#6 4 years ago

Thanks, guys. Nice of you to say. Yep, he beat the crap out of me on my own BDK. It was embarrassing.

#7 4 years ago

Great seller! Buy with extreme confidence. Honest and sells top notch machines.

#8 4 years ago

So did you center the decal with the words or with the arrow below it? Ive been contemplating this decal for mine, but it always looks off center to me.

#9 4 years ago

I had the same issue. I tried to place it centered above the tip of the insert below it, not centered under the word “Sanctum.” It looked more natural to me that way. And I tried to rotate the decal so the little white hash marks (I believe they depict reflections) are consistent with the inserts. I placed Mylar over that area too.

#10 4 years ago

I hate to be Mr obvious here, but does it include the more desirable original translite and speaker panel?

#11 4 years ago

Not at all, good question. I have the original speaker panel and would include. I didn’t get the original Alec B translite when I bought it.

I've looked at it very carefully and it looks more like a young Peter North to me. Which makes it even more desirable.

"Buckets knows..."

#14 4 years ago

You will never see the Shadow translite in the same light again.

#15 4 years ago

I couldn’t price it like this with the P. North “package.” That’s BIG money.

#16 4 years ago

Any Shadow >$3500 sits unless it's HUO. The seller has a stellar reputation, and is super nice by all accounts. I messaged him when his WOF was for sale. No deal transpired, but he couldn't have been nicer. Price it at $3800 and there's a chance, given the reputation of the seller. In other words, great guy, but the price is just too high.

#17 4 years ago

Good luck finding a bone stock Shadow for $3500, much less one in this condition w/ color DMD & Aurich art. Take your sour grapes to one of the “out of control” pin pricing threads, instead of shitting up someone’s sale thread.

Happily bought mine from WeirPinball for $4250. With a completely repaired and freshly clearcoated original PF, that alone plus rebuilding of all the under-PF components was well worth it to me. Aurich translite, powdercoated ball guides and habit trails, speaker lights, and ColorDMD sweetened that deal for sure: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-the-shadow-4

GLWS, OP. Very nice game!

#20 4 years ago

If not for exchange and duties. I'd certainly consider it.
Still it is sour grapes these could be had for 1500 10 years ago when Alec kept the price down.

Killer looking Shadow. Not sure how how your purchase actually helps the OP with his sale, but godspeed.

Looks like he came down $300 or so from his list price, which is pretty common. That sounds about right. I’m usually pretty flexible on price also, and I find most people offer slightly less than the list. So a similar discount would put me around $3800 or so, exactly where Usandthem suggested. If someone buys it for $3800 or $3900, that’s about what I expected. If not, I’m happy keeping this one. I would only replace it down the road someday anyway. It’s a cool game. I just need cash for another pin I’m adding. Thanks for looking.

1. Countering the "Shadows don't sell north of $3.5K+" point. HUO for a game from 1995 is irrelevant, hence the paraphrase. Shadow's like the new Congo: no one wants to see it sell for that kind of money cause "bad theme man, shouldn't sell....sure wish I had bought one for $1.2K about 12 years ago..."
2. OPs cabinet is nicer than mine, so anyone comparing the two games will see that given the overall condition of the OPs game that his is the better deal (in terms of presentation, not work invested into it)
3. Free bump - like this one for this post.

There's 3 ways right there : ).

#24 4 years ago

Pinside archived sales is a good place to start. There have been a number of sales above $4k, and plenty below. As always, condition dictates price. Not much to debate beyond that.

Did you even read the ad? He has colordmd, Aurich package, leds, art blades, and some mods. Subtract $400 from selling price just from the colordmd and you close to $3500.

#27 4 years ago

Shadow fans and owners are very sensitive. I'm sorry for pointing out things as I see them. Christ, I hope the seller sells his game and that all parties are happy. But last I checked there is the option to list without turning your ad into a discussion topic.

Fumbleflippers- Anytime I post a game for sale, you're more than welcome to come "shit" on my ad as well if you feel that I'm overpriced or that theirs something materially defective with my game, or even just to be a dick if you want (which is not what my intentions were). But you'll have a hard time doing that because my for sale ads rarely last more than a day or two. Why? Once I decide to broom a game, that's it. I don't want tire kickers in my home. I price it the lowest around, and it sells. Very simple. By the way, I've owned and sold two Shadows, one of them in the not too distant past, year and a half ago maybe, which was pretty nice with the Aurich package. The Aurich package is cool, but it's not what sells the game. That's for sure. As for the Color DMD, I'll definitely cede that point. But even so, you can't tack on what it takes to purchase a new one to the value of your game.

This game has been listed before as well and didn't sell. Maybe I'll be proven wrong this time around (no problem there) and maybe I won't.

NPO- Sounds like you pretty much bought a restored example, and from a dealer at that... not comparable, sorry.

#28 4 years ago

Personally I also think this is priced a bit too high.

For this price, the sanctum should be perfect IMO, as well as the backbox.

Just my price policin' .02 cents

#29 4 years ago

I just don't see how anyone is going to have a perfect sanctum area for an original playfield. A nicely repaired one should be fine imo.
The Shadow reminds me of Whitewater - it was cheaper for a time, but everyone wants one because its a good game. Now beat up examples are fetching 5k not to mention the huge cost of anything to replace in that game if you need to. The major difference is Shadow is a way better game

#30 4 years ago

Just FYI, I had this listed back in June for about 12 hours and I changed my mind and decided to keep for a few months. This being my first Shadow. Same exact price. I did receive a local offer of $3900 soon after pulling it, but I wanted to own it awhile, having recently taken in on trade.

I may prefer to keep and maybe learn to replace the head decals someday.

Interesting that this one would generate such a price discussion. I’ve sold a bunch of pins and they seldom ever do. I guess in the end the market dictates the value.

#31 4 years ago

Not surprised. Shadow is a title that gets the old guys really worked up b/c it was so cheap before and now continues to rise in price. Add it to Congo, Jurassic Park and others.

From my perspective, it’s a very nice shadow. I’ve done deals with the OP before and he’s great to work with and has very nice machines. If this was priced at 3900, it’s gone tomorrow. You’re not very far off – I think the 4100+ amount is the hesitation.

#32 4 years ago

Just for discussion, this one had a REALLY old piece of Mylar over the sanctum area when I got it. Very brown and aged. I could barely find the edge of it, it had worn down so much over time. I applied a little heat and was able to remove. You can see the ring where the Mylar was in the pics. See below. It was pretty clean under that, I was surprised. I see wear on these a lot. That magnet is constantly stopping the ball there on this pin.

That first pic with the brown circle is the old Mylar. The third pic is after removal and waxing it. Not bad after that. Then I added a new Mylar square and the decal. The decal was a cool idea and creation!

#34 4 years ago

btw - this exact game is 5k in two years. If I remember to check to prove it I will ; )

#35 4 years ago

I’m seeing some really interesting things happening with TSPP and LOTR prices. Both had huge production runs (I think) and several pop up every week. Neither are difficult to find. LOTR, even projects, I see in the low $5s and several TSPP are asking $6 or more. Wasn’t TSPP a $3500 pin just a couple years ago? I know, I’m getting off topic. My mind wanders.

You sure can. Used ColorDMDs come up for sale rarely, since they either go with games or are removed and swapped into another game. When they do come up for sale, they don't go for much of a discount off MSRP. Your point holds for most other mods, but not for ColorDMD.

Signed, a guy who spent six months hoping to score a used ColorDMD on the cheap before accepting how that market works and just buying new.

Not sure how a color dmd loses value ever. Maybe after like 20 years it will start to dim. Im sure the life on those LEDs is long. I think average is like 5 years. Thats 5 years ON.

Shadow has nothing to do with Congo pricing and has actually gone a little up then down over the years. It's also always been a popular title.

Isn't Congo significantly rarer? It's not as good of a game as Shadow, but they were lumped together as fun games based on C movies. I think Congo goes for more because there are fewer of them -- less produced, and then evidently was a popular game to harvest parts from since they were not popular with collectors back in the day.

Congo is a fun pin. Tons of shots. I would like to find a nice one someday. That ape that mashes the balls under the pf is kinda silly. The rest of the game is pretty darn good. That, and a Big Lebowski!

Don't get me wrong, Congo is a fun game, it's just not a masterpiece like Shadow!

Lebowski would be a fun one to own some day -- gameplay's not as good as Shadow, but the best theme integration I've ever seen on a pin. Art, sound, mechs, the whole package is pretty sweet. Here's hoping that more get produced. And that one day I've got enough disposable income to not mind spending $12.5k on a pinball machine.

True, but Shadow is a Bally/Williams, not a glorified Data East.

I’ve owned both.

Congo > TS.

Easy.

Ts is kick ass but sold it way faster than Congo. Wish I still had Congo.

It's rarer and it's much much easier, which I believe is a big reason in it's popularity climb over the rears.
That isn't a knock or anything, there's also a lot to do in it.

I've tried to find the love for Congo. But it blew on location when it was new, and it blew every time I've played it since then.

But considering the garbage people are buying into now, different strokes for different folks, I guess.
