Game - for sale

For sale: Shadow, The

Added: 2019-08-23 19:25:18 UTC • Ended: August 29th, 2019
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Price

$ 3,800

LEDs, Color DMD (LED), Topper, Titan rubbers, mirror blades, custom wood gun grips, Aurich translite, city scape back panel. The Sanctum was repaired by the previous owner and he did a good job. There is a broken plastic near the sanctum—I’m not sure if the pictures capture it, but I would be happy to provide more pics. I changed the flashers to purple, but will include the original orange domes if the buyer would like to change them back to original. Please let me know if you have any questions. About a month ago, I accidentally separated the DMD into two pieces, but glued it back with a small amount of gorilla glue. It still works perfectly and you would not otherwise notice. Great playing Shadow that will make someone very happy.

I agree. Kicking myself like I spent too much on a stock game. SOME ONE GETTING A DEAL

This won’t last long.

#5 4 years ago

Are we all looking at the same Sanctum?

#6 4 years ago

Nice deal regardless but i wldnt call the sanctum area well done. .also the mode insert edges are pretty rough. Id still probably purchase it if u were closer tho. Glws

#7 4 years ago

Nearly $4K for a PF in that condition? Sanctum is NOT that nice, mode inserts resembling that of most original TAF mansion inserts, and chipping/damaged arrow insert leading to the Sanctum. What in the world happened to the left outlane???

All the fancy bling (ColorDMD, Topper, Translite, Mirrorblades) wouldn't pry my eyes away from that PF. Woof.

Now, if there was a brand new CPR PF to be installed as part of the deal, that'd be a different story (and price adjustment as a PF swap is a pretty intense effort).

Math doesn’t work out on this - new CPR playfield’s $850, so you’d be valuing his game at ~$2600 once you remove the Color DMD. I agree the Sanctum fix is far from perfect and insert lifting/wear is an issue, but that pricing just isn’t realistic in 2019.

#9 4 years ago

That math is flawed. I'd go $3K with the PF included. Installation is easily a 40 hour job, so that would be a VERY fair deal.

Then again, there is no extra PF, and this game is not worth $3800.

Let's see what the market says.

** Spoiler ** - I own a TS, so I'm not arbitrarily coming in here to shoot him down. That PF is rough for $3800, and fellow owners should not cheerlead nearly $4000 for that level of wear.

This is a great machine, looks and plays great. Great seller, he really takes great care of his games.

Ok, so if you value the game at $3k with hypothetical $850 playfield included, you value the game as-is, with ColorDMD, at $2150 ($1,800 without ColorDMD). When’s the last time a Shadow went for under $2k, regardless of playfield wear?

The playfield will definitely deter some buyers, but your cost estimates are also way out of whack.

#14 4 years ago

So, some things get left out when up til 0300. Let me try again.

I value a base TS at around $3K. With ColorDMD at about $3350 (it's installed, it's been used, it's not a ColorDMD in a box waiting for me to install - it doesn't automatically retain its full value at $400).

My judgment as I type my retort didn't include all the extras (which to me aren't that big a deal - mirror blades and toppers dont do shit for me unless they're factory - JP, TAF, WH2O, etc.). Aurich's art package is a plus, and of course the ColorDMD - but at $3800? Nope.

The extras don't mean anything when the PF looks crap, and it does. Outlanes have what appear to be scratches in the artwork, Sanctum looks like the ball had a small case of diarrhea, insert art is cracking - especially the modes.

You know what the topper, Aurich's art package and ColorDMD says?

"Please - keep your eyes up here - don't look at all the imperfections where your eyes will be nearly 94% of the time."

All being said, come on market - prove me wrong.

I'm not one to shy away from paying for a nice TS. Cause guess what I bought for about $450 more? This:

Sure, cabinet is dinged up, but that PF sure as hell ain't.

#15 4 years ago

I’m not sure what was showing up in the above left inlane pic, but I wiped down the area and took a pic with flash off. There are definitely no scratches. Here is another pic of the Sanctum with the flash off. It’s clearly not perfect, but I think the flash was making it show more discolorization than actually exits. I’m not selling this as a collector piece and I didn’t price it as a collector piece. Anyone wanting a great-playing Shadow is going to be really happy with this game. Thanks for looking.

And if any of you price experts would kindly jump on my BSD for sale thread and crap all over that one, too, I would really appreciate it. It could use some attention.

No need. That price is fair for what you're selling in that thread. Thanks for the opportunity though.

I'll eagerly sit by with the rest of the Shadow owners and wait. I've bumped this thread enough.

If I end up being wrong, I'll happily admit it.

Carry on, market. Let's see this thing sell at $3800.

Trade plus cash for a MM?

#20 4 years ago

If this was near me I would buy it right now. I could fix that sanctum and inserts to where they wouldn't be noticeable. Anybody suggesting a playfield swap and to be paid for doing it is out of their minds. Yeah, you'll get a shadow this nice for under $2200. That's just plain retard math.

Any chance to taking a trip to Southern California seller?

Yea, the last $1800 (less than $2k) shadow I have seen was 5-6 years ago when Rob up in NY had a beater that had large holes cut out of the cabinet and playfield was a wreck. I have seen some really nice shadows with no mods and no LEDs for $2800 but that was 4 years ago. A nice playing Shadow with loads of mods is going to run $3500 - $4500 all day plus people have woke up to the fact it is a killer game. Mike Chesnuts old Shadow sold for $7500, but is probably the nicest one around unless HEP has done one over the years.
