For sale: Shadow, The

Added: April 23rd, 2019 Ended: April 25th, 2019
Condition: Used - shows wear, needs some work

Item description

Project Shadow for sale. This game was used at the previous owner's summer lake home in IL until he sold it. He stated that it played good but there was a problem with the battlefield not working correctly and occasionally a ball would get stuck in a ramp.

The game has clean boards. I unplugged the daughter board with the battery holder from the CPU with the battery holder as it had corrosion. I started a game and got the "factory defaults restored" message because of the battery holder being removed. It wouldn't start a game as it hasn't been played in awhile - I removed and placed 5 balls in the game and I was able to start a game and play through it to game over. I then tried to start another game and couldn't - it looks as if the balls aren't registering in the outhole - switch problem, etc.. The coin door switches unit to access the game's software menus has sticky buttons and doesn't work - this problem will have to be checked out. The cabinet has your normal wear and a hole drilled in front to the right of the coin door. It will need prep work, filling, sanding, and decals for a restore. The translite is in good shape - not excellent - but good. The playfield is a little dirty but nice with the exception of your normal wear at the sanctum drawbridge. It will need filled and a decal or artwork placed. I found a coil hanging down below the catapult of the battlefield where someone started working on a problem but left it. There is rust on several of the metal parts such as coin door area parts, coil plungers, and a few playfield posts. The rust will need cleaned and parts tumbled/polished. This will take some time to do...... When done, this will make someone a nice game.

I'd like to sell locally but for Allentown show delivery (friend of mine has a trailer) add $100.

Look, I'm going to be straight: Shadow is in NO WAY a $3900 project game. I dont care if some eBayarians are posting $5700 FS ads for half assed "restorations."

This shit is getting out of hand. $3900 for a project is asinine. I see "OBO", so get ready to take a hit.

Change my mind. No, nm, you won't

everyone can dream, this is a $2000 game.

Project Shadows are $4k now? Right.

Typo on the price I didn't catch.

$2900 OBO

All I can say is ...take very good look at the photos before you decide. One of the divertor brackets is cracked for one and will need to be welded. If somebody can do the repairs themselves, not a bad price.

I think this kind of feedback is more constructive for the overall community here. The seller can ask for what he wants, but those with experience owning the same machine should chime in to help prospective buyers. The less people that get burned, or at the very least are fully informed as to what they are getting into, the healthier the used market.

That being said, if I were buying this I would assume I'm going to recondition or replace almost all of the metal parts. Tumbling is not going to remedy the problems here for many parts. Have a look at the tilt bob, springs, plungers, etc to get an idea for the kind of moisture this machine was subject to. All the mechs need to be completely rebuilt. Know what you are getting into. This is a great game that you will need to put a ton of time and some money into. Factor that into your offer.

Good luck to the seller and buyer.
