Game - for sale

For sale: Ripley's Believe It or Not! (Stern, 2004)

Featured Ad

Added: 2016-09-01 07:15:45 UTC • Ended: October 2nd, 2016
Condition: Used - shows wear but 100% working and clean

Price

$ 3,300

I have a RBION up for trade and/or sale. It is a fairly solid example that has rotated Pinsider hands over the last year or two.

Price is $3300 firm. I have no way to transport this game, so you would need to come get it (I can help you get it broken down, down my stairs and into your vehicle). I am not interested in shipping. Located in Fairfax, VA, just about twenty minutes south of Washington, DC.

Pros:
- Very clean cabinet overall.
- Full LEDs for GI and inserts
- LED OCD and GIzmo lamp smoothing boards installed
- NVRAM installed (re: no more batteries!)
- Lamp scoop light installed (blue)
- Clear flipper button mylar protectors, no flipper button wear.
- Mylar protection at the vari-target entrance (not sure if this was factory or not; it wasn't on my previous RBION)
- Cliffy protector on the scoop.
- Tombstone target decals.
- Some small bonuses (keyless coindoor lock [original lock/key still included], Cliffy post sleeves throughout the playfield, custom info cards, some Super Bands Super Posts throughout the playfield, set of cabinet leg protectors, Titan Competition flipper rings, etc)

Cons:
- Slight, small bit of wear on right side of the cab. See attached photos.
- Translite has this wavy effect on the edges, seems like moisture or air might have seeped in or something. Was like this when I got the machine, I haven't bothered taking the translite off to see if it can be easily corrected. See attached photos.

I'm open to trades if cash is involved. Games need to be fully working and in good shape. Routed/unshopped is perfectly fine if the functionality is 100%. I'm mainly interested in the following:

Stern - Nascar, Monopoly, High Roller Casino, Sharkey's Shootout, Terminator 3, World Poker Tour, Austin Powers, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Iron Man Classic, Transformers: The Pin, Avengers: The Pin, Batman Standard

Bally/Williams (DMD) - Dirty Harry, Popeye Saves the Earth, NBA Fast Break, Johnny Mnemonic, Who Dunnit?, World Cup Soccer, Party Zone

Sega/Data East (DMD) - South Park, Viper: Night Drivin', X-Files, Independence Day, Godzilla, Goldeneye, Twister, Baywatch, Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, Maverick, Space Jam

System11 - Cyclone, Game Show, Whirlwind

Data East - The Simpsons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Phantom of the Opera, Robocop, Torpedo Alley

Gottlieb - Street Fighter II, Super Mario Bros.

Here's a gameplay video I uploaded of this machine in action:

Out of your list of trade games, I'd hold out for Dirty Harry. I sold mine and bought Ripley's back.

Quoted from o-din:

I played a good bit of Dirty Harry at Pinburgh back in July (including the B Div playoffs) and liked what was there once I figured out the flow.

Granted, I'm not really looking for keepers. I only have the room and money for a tiny collection right now, so I'm mainly just looking for new games to learn and enjoy. Whatever I get will likely be rotated out in due time (a couple of months).

This is the second time I've owned Ripley's, and while it's one of my favorite games, I've played it into the ground. Looking for something fresh I don't have a lot of experience with. That, and I do need a little bit of cash for some bills, so that's part of the equation.

I have a very nice Corvette pin I'd trade, but wouldn't be adding any money.
Looks like a nice Ripleys.

I recorded a gameplay video of this machine yesterday. Made it to Atlantis in the video, so you should be able to see just about every feature on this machine in action:

#15 7 years ago

Added a few more games to the want list in the first post.

Keep in mind this game is also for sale, $3500 takes it. But, trades with cash make my life easier.

Im tempted but driving into NOVA makes me want to shoot myself.

#18 7 years ago
Quoted from TaylorVA:

We could always work out a time during hours that may make that less painful. I'm always off three days a week so I am flexible if it lands on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Super early in the morning or in the middle of the night, I don't really care. If you decide you want it, you know how to reach me.

#19 7 years ago

I should mention to anyone interested, I'll knock $170 off you want the LED OCD and GIzmo boards removed. LEDs will just be super bright as they usually are, as it seems a lot of people are used to. I can hold onto these boards and use them in a future machine.

Added over 8 years ago: Sorry, I meant $200 off ($3300 for the machine) if you choose to have the LED OCD and GIZMO boards taken out.

Up to the top.. For Jackpot!

..eh, wrong game. But I digress.

#22 7 years ago

Is this my old game? Love RBION. Too bad you won't ship. Timing is a bit off, but I'm in the market in November.

Bump for Bigfoot.

Surprisingly, it is not!

My old game was the village bicycle! Such a fun game, though.

I'm sure it will be gone by the time I get home, but maybe I can twist your arm to ship it to me in a few weeks.

Another potential option is to twist one of the locals' arms to hold onto it for you for a bit; they get to play it, then you can pick it up in November.

#26 7 years ago

Still available.

#27 7 years ago

Note to self: Don't ever post a game for sale two weeks before the York show.

#28 7 years ago

Ha. Funny bump. I have a nice WPT or a RCT I would consider trading if you were closer. Can't believe this hasn't sold.

Bring it to York and it'll sell there.

Quoted from cheshirefilms:

I'd be more than happy to own one again. I mainly sold the last one because another game I had been looking for, for much longer, had been offered to me for it.

Quoted from PoMC:

Wish I could.. no truck/van.

Yeah, I've had several people interested that are an insane distance away, but not many semi-locally. I'm kind of surprised because when this one was listed before I got it, a bunch of people were interested, but now that interest has fizzled. Either it's due to York coming up, or people have already gotten their RBION fix.

#32 7 years ago

I have a Monopoly, but not sure if I'm ready to move it for something else yet, otherwise I might be interested in working out a deal.

#33 7 years ago
Quoted from akm:

If you can find a buyer at York and get the pin to me, then I'll have room in my van on the way back to the show Sat morning and I could bring it there for you.

Haha.. Yeah, that's Turboghia's Monopoly. Didn't you just get it a week or two ago?

Regardless, if you do end up wanting to try to work out something though, shoot me a PM. Monopoly is higher up on my wanted list.

#35 7 years ago

Yup it was his and I'm surprised at how much fun it is and the ramps are very fast. So that's why I'm not ready to trade it yet since it's new to us and we're having a lot of fun with it.

#36 7 years ago

I totally understand.

#37 7 years ago

Offer still stands to bring it to York for you on Saturday if you have a buyer lined up. Just would need to get it to me.

#38 7 years ago

There's been a HUO one on the Minneapolis Craigslist for a couple months for $3500. I'm curious when it will finally sell.

#39 7 years ago

The Minneapolis craigslist pin was first posted in mid-July at $4800. Now, several price drops later, its at $3500. Not sure where the market finds the "sweet spot" for this title.

Market seems to have cooled for a number of titles as of late. Not going to claim this is why op's has not sold just that there are a bunch of titles that a year ago would have been considered a good price, but are not moving.

Agree with dung 100%. Sold my Monopoly for $2000 shopped with LEDs and Superbands. Had it up for a while at higher prices but $2k was it. A lot of pins have been sitting

To be fair, you seemed pretty impatient to get it out the door. Based on prior sales recently, you probably could have gotten close to your original asking price if you let it sit for a while.

#43 7 years ago

Recent sales means very little when no one currently wants it within that price range. I had the Monopoly for sale on a few sites and even at $2200 it wasn't moving. If it's priced right, it will sell! Maybe it's timing, maybe the pin market is correcting itself and prices are going down to a place where people feel more comfortable.

In any case GLWTS!

Recent sales mean a lot. It's empirical evidence of what you are more than likely to be able to get for what you are selling. Of course, if you are impatient or want it out the door the next day, you may have to drop the price quickly to meet that [personal] need.

And I agree, timing is a big factor. Pinball is a niche thing, not to mention expensive. Not everyone will be looking for what you are selling when it's time to sell, or the people that are might not have the money. That doesn't mean you should let up on what you feel you should get for a machine, especially if you have that empirical evidence to back up your asking price.

I just had a friend offer to take me up to York next weekend with the game. Still waiting on confirmation. I'm going to reach out to the person that originally wanted me to bring the game there and see if he is still interested, but anyone else interested that's planning on being there, feel free to get in touch with me.

#46 7 years ago

All right, it's been confirmed that I'll have a ride up to York plus transportation to get the game there. I'd prefer to have something lined up before hand, if not then I may not end up heading to the show. If anyone's interested shoot me a message and let's work something out. If something is arranged beforehand then I will definitely be up there Saturday.
On a side note, price is now $3300 firm. OCD and GIzmo boards now included in that price.

Added over 8 years ago: Still open for trades of course, and I've expanded the games I may be willing to exchange for (see original post).

Sold mine a while ago when I needed money and had trouble getting a good price for it. Not sure why because the game was in great shape and there's so much to do on it. I think you're going to get a good offer on the game because it's finally starting to get the respect it deserves.
