What you said...

#4 5 years ago

Dang, thought I was going to see a fully restored awesome QS for the price.

#5 5 years ago

Not that I like the price, but I mean how many of these pop up for sale? Supply and demand, it makes sense. Or wait for Stern to retheme it into The Who and charge a few extra grand.

Now i know the market has gone crazy but...

I sold mine, fully working with wear, to the highest bidder for $900 just two years ago....so I guess it has.

I guess Quicksilver is worth significantly more than a Fathom now?

As it should be

No, it isn't - just the asking prices are.

#12 5 years ago

Makes me want to sell my Seawitch.

Congrats on the sale!

#14 5 years ago

Quicksilver is fun and all but 5k for a project. Stern you listening? Same thing with Stargazer, it’s fun and all but not 5k fun. To each their own I guess

#15 5 years ago

Easier to find a fathom or centaur. Took me along time to find my quicksilver and stargazer. A fathom or centaur in that condition would not have sold that quickly or around that price listed. Likely sold close to the asking price. Been offered more for mine.

People are crazy then

This has really got out of hand.

Congrats to the seller for pumping prices up.

ummm... I dont think anything can be claimed as pumped when it is sale pending in less than a few hours.

That indicates if anything, he may have priced it too low.

Mmmm Kool Aid is good around here.

I don't see another one for sale anywhere and to some people the money isn't a big deal. Not sure why that is so hard to understand.

It's a rare game, if price isn't a factor to someone then more power to them. What's crazy to me is a drop in the ocean to someone else.

Nobody is disputing that it is rare, or that people have crazy money. I feel it is just a shock to everyone because of the CONDITION for the price. Holders of nice or restored QS are thinking they've just doubled to $10K machines.

Exactly!

They might actually be, though. It's not everyday that a QS is posted for sale, much less a restored or collector quality example. Seems many are coming around to the realization that classic Stern's are some of the best games of all time, and this upward trend in their values reflects that. That said, I'll never own a QS given how much they're commanding now.

Congrats to the buyer and seller. I think we've all been in a position at one time or another where we wanted a particular rare game and had plenty of money to throw at one, but there's simply none available to buy. This was a lucky day for someone!

And just to think people called "bullshit" when in 2013, AFM went for $8K on eBay (shill bidding), and all the AFMs immediately spiked in price.

Guess we will find out the next QS that pops up for sale.

#28 5 years ago

If these prices keep going up maybe Stem would consider a classic VE.

#29 5 years ago

A single sale isn't indicative of a broader market. QS doesn't come up at all any more so if a person has been searching for a while and jumps on this one, that doesn't mean there are dozens of others that see such value in this game. So let's see if QS owners that are tired of the machine start to list them for 10K. More importantly, how many people would pay that?

Somehow, in the last few years, QS has risen above most (all but Star Gazer) of the other classic Sterns. It's a great game, no doubt, but there are a lot of great games from this era.

Well, I had one and I can tell you that you're not missing that much.

It doesn't matter what they think until they find a buyer.

You don't think they have?
