Condition: Partially restored (almost original)

Item description

Up for your consideration is a beautiful Quicksilver restored with a new playfield and repainted cabinet. I'd list it as fully restored but it's not all original. The legs, coin door, displays and backglass are original but everything else was taken apart and cleaned or replaced.

-New Mirco playfield
-Freshly painted cabinet from Pinball Palladium
-New plastic set from Pinball Rescue
-New Reese Rails
-New Weebly MPU
-New rectifier board
-New complete flipper mechs, coils and base plates
-New pop bumper bases, bodies and skirts
-New comet frosted 2smd sunlight leds in the controlled inserts and backglass
-New Siegecraft led adapters installed on the lamp board and power switch protector
-New 47 bulbs in the GI
-New lamp sockets installed on the playfield
-New drop target set
-New Titan silicone rubber set and flipper rubbers
-New starposts, lane guides, shooter housing, feet, cab leg protectors and locks
-New manual and schematics
-All playfield metal parts were cleaned and tumbled
-Side rails and lockdown bar were sanded and buffed to high polish
-Transformer board and tilt board were disassembled cleaned and painted
-New cabinet ground braid with new information cards stapled into cabinet and head
-All connectors running to the boards were recrimped
-Coin door was disassembled and all parts cleaned and polished
Every metal part was either regrained, rubber wheeled, tumbled or buffed. After I had my playfield restored by Sohchx in MD I decided to send it off to Mirco so he could use it and the plastics as donors for him to make playfields for others. I also gave my rails to Taylor so he could copy the set to make Reese Rails. The restore was started on Jan 21st 2018 and was only supposed to be a playfield restore by Sohchx in MD. While Devin had the playfield I decided to sand the cabinet down and turn it into a full restore.
While waiting for my playields and plastics to come back from Germany I tried painting the cab myself twice with spray paints and didn't like the results. I eventually sanded it all off and brought my pinball pimp stencils to the pinball palladium to have it shot in auto paints.
When I received the Mirco playfield I was concerned about the clearcoat after reading all summer long about the issues that were happening with Wonka and JP. I reached out to Mirco to ask him about it but he never returned or answered my emails. In the QSilver thread I documented my experience with Mirco who still has my originals. When I 1st populated the playfield the 2 spots with 1 inch rings between them started to ripple. I removed the rings and let the playfield cure and re flatten for a few more months and now she's fine. I have yet to roll a ball across the playfield so you can let it cure for as long as you like before playing.
Only interested in a sale since I can't fit any trades right now. The Christmas tree has already bumped her over to a windowless corner of the room.

One of the few rare titles that totally lives up to the hype...gameplay wise.
Looks beautiful.

-Better that Star Gazer
-Better than Iron Maiden 1.
-Even ever so slightly ahead of Nine Ball.

Question: why does mirco still have your originals?

#17 11 months ago

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen! Should have responded last night but was hanging with the wife.

Quoted from mrm_4:

Lol good eye! I was watching Keeping up with the Joneses. Had the TV on pause for so long it just turned on again as I took that picture, what a great scene.

Great question woody! Basically because there's an ocean between us otherwise I would have driven across the country by now to get them back. When he was returning my emails he kept telling me he needs the playfield for further reference. The last time he responded to me was September and I had already repopulated the playfield by then so I didn't need the original playfield for the reference in my swap so I offered to let him keep the restored original for another repro. I at least wanted my plastics back to finish this game but even after a year of holding them he still hasn't scanned the plastics so I can't have them back. I had to be rescued literally by Pinball Rescue where I bought a repro set. I don't know when or if I will ever get them back. At least I know that it's not a personal grudge because there are other pinsiders who reached out to me after I posted in the Quicksilver thread. They are all patiently waiting for their property getting the same Mirco treatment.

He is regularly at the shows here in States. Can someone approach him about this in person?

Yeah I gave up begging for my stuff back but will hit him up before the Texas show to see if he would be gracious enough to bring it with him. I know some of my friends are going and I'm trying to use this as a reason with my wife to tag along. If not I'll be there personally at Allentown. It's not that he doesn't want to ship, he wants to hold them longer for reference. I've already offered to buy another one of his playfields to have mine shipped back with it. If this was stated up front instead of telling me I would have both playfields and plastics back by April I could understand because it would have been what we agreed upon. Instead I was told I was lucky enough to receive the repro and that he has more important jobs that he has to attend to than one offs.

no lie, I would be waiting for his ass at a show and would give him 2 options. 1 is to give me my stuff back or 2 well, I think you get the picture.

I wonder if Jack can help you out? He sells Mirco stuff off this pinballsales.com site and I know they are pretty close. maybe he can take possession of your stuff and you can go pick it up.

#24 11 months ago

I would make him bring the stuff back, apologize and then he would have to buy me a pretzel cheese steak and a sheet of new pinball glass.

ROTFL I think you're onto something John!

#26 11 months ago

crispin I think he’s keeping your playfield for reference because it’s the only one that he’s ever seen that doesn’t have clear coat issues....

#27 11 months ago

Congrats on the sale...hearing your story makes me fear for my Centaur that I sent him 13 months ago.
