Game - for sale

For sale: 1989 Williams Police Force (prototype)

Added: 2017-10-27 13:58:25 UTC • Ended: December 4th, 2017
Condition: HUO - Documented (Home Used Only)

Price

$ 3,500

Up for sale is a 1989 Police Force (Prototype). It is the only known surviving prototype to date, just recently discovered last month. This machine is in immaculate condition! It has about a dozen differences from the production model that I can identify. 100% LED's have been added to protect the plastics. Installed new ramps (original ramps had a couple cracks but still all together and did not want to destroy it in play as it does have unique hand cut holes in it for things like the diverter). The serial number on it is x2700006. I am willing to ship at buyers arrangement and expense. Call or Text at (###) ###-#### [phone number removed]

I don't believe auctions are allowed here......

Oops, I fixed it. Didn't mean to say that, use to posting other stuff on eBay lately.

I dont know anything about the value, it may be worth this price or more, Im not price policing this one.... I just never ever thought I would see a PF over $6k...

Me neither, never had something like this before. Figured it's easier to go down than to ask for more.

Quoted from boscokid:

What are the dozen differences you identified? I find it hard to believe those bumper caps are original but they definitely arent what is on most Police Force. No center post?
Your playfield is much better than mine, first time I noticed the rat was holding a syringe

1) There is no center post between the flippers
2) The black wording next to the left flipper on the playfield is normally white. Also there is a double print there of black print over white print, "LS" over "SP-LS"
3) POP caps are different, they have been there since 1991 at least for sure.
4) Police car has red board inside of it, all red led's, no tail lights, and no williams logo.
5) There's a about a dozen unused screw holes under the playfield where it looks like they tried something and then removed it.
6) Backbox has about a dozen more bulbs than normal.
7) Plastic pieces next to the flippers is written in red, should be black.
8) Proto sound roms
9) Optic spinner has a red board, shaft is much smaller than the production. Also has hand written part number on the yellow sticker
10) Several sample tags on it.
11) Lamp boards are red boards all throughout, should be green.
12) Jungle Jewelers plastic piece has a large white circle on it, should be red
13) The drop targets do not have the stickers on them

Quoted from snyper2099:

It really comes down to luck. If you want 5k for this game, there may be 5 people in the entire world that would pay that much for it. Chances of striking a deal with them is very slim.
Now, at 4K I feel you have more like 50ish people that would be willing to buy it. Still would be tricky to track one of them down.
At, 3K you open yourself up to 500-ish people who love that game and want that example to be part of their collection. That's the highest public price that anyone has ever sold one for BTW...
At, around 2500 you probably will have 50-ish people ON PINSIDE that would be interested in it and just need to work out the logistics with someone ready to buy.
So yeah, it could sell but are you in a hurry? lol

I'm not in a big hurry to sell it, been kicking around the idea of hauling it to TPF18 in Texas, in March I think, and let people check it out, play it, and possibly ask Barry Ousler a few questions, if possible, about it during his Q&A. I'm certainly open to offers, cash talks at the end of the day.

Quoted from AaronJames:

If someone’s is dumb enough to pay that then you deserve to get over $6k for it.

It's just money, you can't take it with ya.

Quoted from Joker2415:

A reasonable price is what someone is willing to pay and what the seller is willing to let it go at. I don't get some of these for sale threads. These are asking prices.....
Why would a seller answer on a half price offer if the offer isn't actually buying? No offense meant at all. Just seems like a strange question in someones for sale thread.
He could ask 10 grand, why would any of us care unless we are actually wanting to buy it?
Just my nonsense to add to the thread...

I don't get it either, if you aren't interested in it all then just keep scrolling, no harm no foul. I never find myself in someone else's selling thread complaining about price, I just buy somewhere else, wait for it to come down, or come to an agreement and pay it.

Quoted from Blackbeard:

OP
Nobody is going to buy it at your listed price. I don't think anyone would buy it for anything close to that price actually.
PF is a fun game and a tad underrated imo after owning one. But it's a $1000 pin, give or take, all day long. The fact yours is a proto is cool, but it still is just a PF. Honestly I'd see if you can get 2k for it and run.

I'm not interested in 2k offers, I'd rather just keep it at that point. If someone wants this particular one then it is for sale for around the asking price, otherwise I'm sure there is plenty of other pinballs to choose from out there.
