Condition: As is

#2 2 years ago

So is that a random asking price? Does it work?

#4 2 years ago

zacaj and some others have bought them recently I’m fairly sure and there is no way in hell they paid 9k. That’s a new Stern LE or a JJP!
It’s not THAT rare.

#5 2 years ago

This is a piss take...yeah!

PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A PISS TAKE!

#6 2 years ago

Flight 2000 retheme?

#7 2 years ago

This is actually the first Gamatron ever listed on Pinside; so I'm really not sure what to ask considering Viper, Iron Maiden and Dragonfist are $5,000+ games.

#8 2 years ago

Laziest for sale ad I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t even have a backglass!

My buddy listed a working one on here a few years ago. I can ask him what it sold for if you’d like. It was in super nice condition

Flight 2000 reaching new heights

#11 2 years ago

Is this… some sort of super rare game or something ?

#12 2 years ago

I don't understand, but want to in case I run across one of these.

#13 2 years ago

I think this is a typo with two extra zeros

#14 2 years ago

He sold his a year ago for 3800…it was 100% working but needed a little cabinet work. He brought the machine back from the dead so whoever gets this and if they need help he’d be a great help. The ad has a conversion playfield. In the ad If you’ll notice the back box is from a 1979 bally strikes and spares.

Here’s pictures of Matt’s game when he sold it.

The Sonic version is substantially rarer than the pinstar version. I would put working value of pinstar around $1800-$2500 but I don't know. I am a pinstar version owner and even crazier, I have owned a sonic version as well. I have since then sold the Sonic version.

#16 2 years ago

Thanks to everyone who replied.
Basically I'm curious about the price for the game to see where the market's at.
Most classic Stern games used to be $1000 to $2000 games a few years ago, but the rarer titles are now mostly $5000+ as the interest in Stern games has grown.
Is this game worth more since it's extremely rare or does nobody care since it's really similar to Flight 2000?
I believe all the missing parts (aside from the backglass) are normal Stern boards, so it should be pretty easy to get going.

#17 2 years ago

If you got 900 for that I would be overly surprised.

Agree. Man that’s a roughy.

Rarity doesn’t always make a game valuable. And yes, the fact that it’s identical to F2K and is missing a backglass doesn’t help.

If its rarity means something to you, hang on to it. That’s why I don’t plan to sell my Time Fantasy.

#20 2 years ago

What you have listed is a project that was sold as a kit and is missing parts. The playfield and sound board are about the only two things you have from the kit. The kits were offered in 1985? for less than $1000 and, as others have stated, you probably will not get that much if you do sell it. You are trying to compare classic Stern machines that were rare with a conversion kit that is more of an oddity, is missing the backglass and has mouse poop in it. Nowhere near the same thing. If you are thinking I am saying all this because I don’t want this to be valuable, I actually have a kit just like this and I have seen many others in the Midwest for sale in various states of working over the years. If you restore the game and get it fully working, you might get 2500 for it…. on a perfect day to someone looking for one. If you decide to part it out (probably the best option at this point) I might be interested in it but, I don't really like mouse poop.

That is not true. There have been a few listed for sale, the sellers just didn't make a "marketplace ad".

The story behind this, which most people fail to understand is that when (Classic) Stern Electronics shut its door and sold off all their stuff, Gary just turned around and rolled a lot of the R&D and equipment into a new company without missing a beat, Pinstar. The company developed Gamatron which was actually the original layout of Flight 2000 before it was stretched into a wide body (note the single pop bumper instead of double)

They took it from the shelf and dusted it off and sold it as a conversation kit for old Stern’s and Bally’s (since Stern had copied all the Bally boards anyway)
Pinstar was just somewhat like a temporary “holding” company until Gary could convince someone to buy them and jump back into pinball production, which was Data East. He had everything together just needed the corporate sponsor to get back to producing games. It was a genius idea.

Sonic obviously received some of these as knockdown assemblies and all they had to do was make cabinets and apparently made their own back glasses too.

It’s a cool game, just not as rare as something. In fact 2 years ago a complete NOS kit came up for sale and it was pretty cool.

I’ll show you something “rare” and it’s in the back of my truck.

Let’s take a blast to the moon baby!

I would love to find a Gamatron kit if I could get one at a decent price.

This. F2K is still in the 2k range. Not sure why this game would command much more.

#28 2 years ago

I'm all for cheerleading Gamatron because I'm an owner but good grief. You have a project that is missing boards and stuff. Not saying someone can't get it clean and up and running but $9000...
Time to get hit with brutal honesty based on your pics.
What you have is between $1200 and $1500 based on how bad someone wants it. You lose alot because it looks like it's been sitting in a basement untouched for years.
You would get more if you cleaned it up and got it for the most part playable.

This one will also not be sold for years.

Gamatron is a better game and more uncommon so that’s a few more reasons

Remove a zero and your bang on!

I bought a super nice one at tpf for 600 bucks, from a well known pinside r

These used to sell at auction for $250 Canadian working.

#35 2 years ago

Nine thousand dollars. Nine. Thousand. Dollars. You have broken my mind.

#36 2 years ago

Do not let your mind get broken by anything you see on Pinside. That is more of a testament to a previously broken mind.

#40 2 years ago

Might as well strap on a switchblade and start screwing people.

Between that and buying this for $9K, I almost dont know which would be worse.

When you are sick of it let me know... It's nostalgia for me. That said, I probably can't afford it these days. I can't pay stupid which seems to be going around.

Very cool game, great find.
