Gonna support KongDonkey on this one. I bought a POTC from him last fall. Upon getting it home, I realized it was the stern version and NOT the JJP. I then re-read the ad and checked the numerous pics. Sure enough, it was a Stern POTC all along LOL. Joking aside, he’s a great seller and I’m super happy with the transaction.

LOL…why should it sell when he is asking LE money. The market has spoken…probably would have no issue selling at $10-12K. OP doesn’t need to sell but if he was gonna max profit now was the time to test the water and get it. Don’t blame anyone for that as many are doing the same.

I know…..I just couldn’t resist stirring the pot a little more…anyone can ask whatever price they want even if it’s ridiculous….I kind of hope the OP gets it cause I have several people that want to buy mine but I don’t know what it would take for me to sell it…I like this game way too much. Same with my Kiss LE…someone would have to dig deep for me to part with either of those.

The real Metallica LE is the Crate/Road case edition IMO, and the only one worth the extra $$$ if you ask me... less of those made than any of them.

I don’t know that the Road Case is the rarest version….there is no proof and it’s an assumption many make. We know for a FACT the LE sold out day one and they made 500 of those. The Road Case was the least popular art package upon release…but some did like it. They ran Metallica for several years…very likely more than 500 of the road case were produced.

And if it is the least produced it doesn’t really make it more desirable…it’s the least cohesive art package….playfield art doesn’t blend well with the cabinet…if playfield art was changed to match the style of the cabinet it would probably look really good.

And to further make it even more ridiculous that a road case version would be more valuable someone could “acquire” road case decals and an “old man” translite.

The original translite is bad enough, I'd hate to see that artwork on the cabinet too ! At least swapping out the translite is an easy fix.
I would had never even considered this game if the translite couldn't be swapped out. To me ,it's one of the worst translites in pinball history. Mine is in the tube the pro translite came in,and it'll never see the light of day,as long as I own this game.

Old man translite is pretty bad…did we actually find something pinsiders actually agree on…that could be a first LOL!
