Quoted from vidguy:

I have too many debts to pay. If I bought this machine I’d be, underwater.

It certainly does help to have more liquid assets.

Quoted from jrpinball:

The YouTube video doesn't show the animation, but it goes something like this;
the fisherman pulls up on the rod, and has nothing but an old boot on the line. Meanwhile, the fish is behind him, squirting him with water from it's mouth.

Very cool! Thanks for the description.

It’s very cool. I was delighted to figure out what the animation was doing while I saw it in action.

Woodrails are great pieces of history. I really like my Williams Jig Saw. When they’re well set-up, they can be a real pleasure to play.

Memphis : “I've been in L.A. for three months now. I have money, I have taste. But I'm not on anybody's "A" list, and Saturday night is the loneliest night for the week for me.

Roger the Pinside Salesman : “Well, a LE Pinball would certainly change that.”

Memphis : “Perhaps, mmm. But, you know, this is the one. Yes, yes yes... I saw three of these stickied to the local Pinside marketplace this morning, which tells me only one thing. There's too many self-Indulgent wieners in this city with too much bloody money! Now, if I was playing a 1951 Gottlieb Mermaid pinball”

Roger the Pinside Salesman : “You would not be a self-indulgent wiener, sir... You'd be a connoisseur.”

Memphis : “Precisely. Champagne would fall from the heavens. Doors would open. Velvet ropes would part.”

You guys are floundering here....

#59 1 year ago

The seller is getting schooled here. I hope he isn't salty about it.

#60 1 year ago

I hope he won’t harbour a grudge. That would be a little shellfish.

Seller is fishing for a buyer. We will see how much he nets on this deal.

I think the game is cool and we mermaid for each other but at $25K I think the seller is being shellfish.

#70 1 year ago

Did you hear about the fire at the shoe factory ?

A thousand soles were lost.

#71 1 year ago

This is the ultimate of the sea puns.

#72 1 year ago

Anyone else find the irony about a mythical ocean creature thread being on fire?

I'll sea my way out now.

Waiting for the carpgumant?

#75 1 year ago

I would buy it but I’m not driving to Paris to pick it up.

#76 1 year ago

Stop making waves about his price as it caused him to clam up and won’t respond.

#77 1 year ago

Hard to fathom why he would… no need for him to be a crab.

no way in hell any woodrail can be worth this much. not a chance.

Quoted from jake35:

I don't know how you can say that. Maybe not to you, but there's a good chance that someone will want to pay up for this super rare game. Others have sold for this much, albeit in better condition. Not many around, and to a serious woodrail collector, this is a rare opportunity.

If an Andy Warhol can sell for $195M then this can sell for $25K. I think what people don’t understand is that the machine is less priced as a pinball and more priced in the realm of collectors item. $ to value goes out the window. Now me, I love woodrails but would never pay $25K when I can get most at $500 or less (which is a travesty given that they should be more given what they represent). But as they always say it’s worth what someone will pay both on the low and the high end.

If you have a repro backglass and playfield, and a repainted cabinet, it’s starting to look like the Ship of Theseus….how far is too far when restoring something?

#84 1 year ago
